Pleidooi! Skandaal Dit is met desperaatheid dat inwoners van Endicott/Vischuil hul laaste hoop en pleitdooi rig aan die munisipaliteit. Endicott is ‘n landbouhoewe gemeenskap ± 25 km buite Springs, maar is deel van Lesedi Munisipaliteit. Hulle het gespog met jare oue pragtige Bloekombome, wat al so eie aan Endicott was. Tot inwoners se onsteltenis merk hul een oggend op pad werk toe dat die bome een vir een afgesaag word. By nadere ondersoek, is verneem dat Lesedi Munisipaliteit, die arbeiders gestuur het om die bome af te saag om sodoende “werkskepping” te verrig. Dis absoluut hartseer om die “kaal” aarde te aanskou waar eens pragtige Bloekombome gepronk het. Inwoners kla dat daar vir maande geen vullisverwydering plaasgevind het nie. Volgens inwoners was daar ‘n onafhanklike kontrakteur wat die vullisverwydering waargeneem het. Die werkers van die kontrakteur het toe begin staak omdat hulle beter salarisse geeis het. Geen ooreenkoms is bereik nie en die kontrakteur moes noodgedwonge sy dienste beeindig. Sedertdien is daar geen vullisverwydering nie. Uit moedeloosheid het die inwoners van Endicott, hul vullissakke by die gemeenskapsaal op die sypaadjie
gegooi. Die gemeenskapsaal is ‘n publieke plek, aangesien dit die Kliniek en Biblioteek daar huisves. Die hoop vullissakke word by die dag al hoe hoër. Verbygangers krap in die sakke en los die sakke dan net so oop. Die wind versprei die vullis en plastieksakke die veld in, met die gevolg dat die diere die plastieksakke vreet en vrektes plaasvind. Die hoop vullissakke lok rotte en slange. Dit is onhigiënies en skandelik om die hoop vullissakke so te aanskou. Na menigte pogings deur inwoners om Lesedi Munispaliteit te bereik, was hulle onsuksesvol aangesien hul geen antwoord van Lesedi Munisipaliteit ontvang nie. Hier is tans werkers wat die skoonmaak van die omgewing verrig. Hulle staan in groepe rond en gesels. Ons het hulle ook genader om die vullis te verwyder, maar dis blykbaar nie hul werk nie. Die inwoners is desperaat en vra om hulp. Inwoners van Endicott rig hiermee ‘n dringende versoek aan Lesedi Munisipaliteit om gehoor te gee aan hul pleitdooi en rig ‘n versoek dat die noodsaaklike dienste onmiddelik aandag moet kry. Ons as belastingbetalers is geregtig op dienslewering.

Rype ouderdom! Oom Piet Kruger het op 5 November sy 98ste verjaarsdag gevier. Hy vertel spontaan dat hy hardloop hierdie lewenswedloop met ywer en geniet elke oomblik daarvan! Oom Petrus Hendrik Kruger is bekend in Nigel vir sy bouwerk.
Nou in die Tehuis vir Bejaardes, is hy bekend vir sy skeppende houtwerk. Oom Piet vertel dat hy die ander jonk hou met die lekker verskeidenheid van speletjies wat hul speel. Hy is bekend as ‘n bok vir sports en daarom noem hul hom die sportbok. Inwoners sê ook dat oom Piet ‘n voorbeeld vir almal is.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR INSURANCE POLICY One should always read one‘s policy schedule together with the insurance contract! Motorized specialty vehicles like golf carts, lawn mowers etc. Cover provided & general conditions: Provides cover against loss by way of theft or accident and normally covers fitted equipment like wheels and radios. Motor vehicle insurance is especially prone to “shopping for the lowest premium”. Most important is that one insures vehicles correctly and not to forsake certain covers just because it is “cheaper”. Cover generally available is the following: Comprehensive cover: This covers total loss or damage due to any insured event, and normally includes theft and high jacking but may be optional with some insurers. Balance of 3rd party, fire or theft: It doesn‘t cover one for damage as a result of an accident but covers damage to the other party if the insured caused the accident and is thus liable for damage to the other party. Our church is hosting David and Sue Verwey at a combined cell group evening. David and Sue are called to do mission work in Japan and they are coming to share some of their experiences that they have had while doing mission work in Japan. This is great and I admire and support people who do mission in other countries. I believe that this is a calling from God and they are doing the work in obedience to this calling. Some churches are called to put a tremendous amount of money into funding mission in Africa and other countries. Most of these churches do this because of a calling that they have felt on their church to support mission “away from home”. This is fantastic and I take my hat off to the effort that goes into this ministry. But here is my question. Where is YOUR mission field? The truth is that we are ALL called to do mission work. The most famous passage that we find in the Bible telling us to do exactly this is called the Great Commission. This is what we are instructed by Jesus to do: Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”(NIV) In being obedient to this instruction from Jesus we all need to spend time in prayer asking God where WE must serve as missionaries. The instruction from Jesus is directed at ALL Christians and the instruction is to GO and do the work. So again I ask: where is
Rev Goddess, Heidelberg Methodist Church YOUR mission field. The truth is that your mission f ield is where God places you (especially if you are staying/working in a place that you prayed for). As Christians I believe that we need to take this calling on our lives more serious. If you stood back and looked at how you act at work and at home would you say that a person who is not a Christian could look up to you and say: “I want to be like that person because I can see the love of Jesus in all that he/she does”. I believe that this is the mission field that we are all called to work in and if we can start getting more positive answers to this question more and more people would WANT to become Christians. Yes we all fail, and we are allowed to fail. But when you constantly do wrong things and handle people in an inappropriate way I believe that “potential” Christians are driven away. Your mission field is where you are RIGHT NOW and where you ALWAYS f ind yourself. Live a life copying Jesus and make a difference in your mission field.

Who will do the honourable thing? Churches everywhere are gearing up for the Christmas season, when the good news of the coming of Jesus Christ is presented in stark contrast to worldly materialism and the drunken joviality of a ‘festive season’. But the small, iconic building in Dunnottar that used to be home to local Baptists, has closed its doors. It has been many years since the church was governed as a Baptist church, and now the people controlling the building are looking for a buyer. It is uncertain whether they are entitled to sell it, or what they hope to do with the proceeds of a sale, although there is talk of how they will apportion it among themselves. The building and other church resources fell under the control of a man from Springs, with a small group of his adherents. Historically established Baptist Principles were renounced. Nobody could be considered for membership who might insist on the constitutionally required quarterly general meetings by which Baptist churches exercise their fundamental principle of congregational church governance. “Must I come all the way from Springs for just a few members?” he said contemptuously of these meetings. Other church assets have long since been disposed of. The adjacent house used for the Sunday School was sold, as was the empty stand once intended for expansion. Control was exercised over the few adherents by the threat of withdrawal of pecuniary support. Now the man wishes to withdraw anyway, apparently on the grounds of his advanced years. The proper thing to do under these circumstances is to call on the Baptist Union of South Africa, of which the church was constitutionally a member, to help reconstitute the church as a proper Baptist church. But who will do the honourable thing? It is to be hoped that the Baptist Union will now step up and engage the community. Dunnottar is small, not unimportant. Concern residents Dunnottar

Die pragtige Mari Minnaar van Rustenburg het die boere laat tuis voel met haar cowboy hoed en stewels en verskeie country treffers. Die regte egte boere atmosfeer het die plek op horings geneem. Die eienaars van outydse motors asook veteraan motors, het met hul blink blitse kom spog, wat mens hoendervleis laat kry het. Tradisionele boerepap en sous met ‘n egte boere braaipak, boerewors op sy beste het op die kole gebrand. Alles wat jy met boere kan verbind was hier. Saterdag, 24 Oktober het Eeufeespark ‘n lenteloop gehou, wat om 9uur afgeskop het en elke inwoner wat deelgeneem het, het ‘n sertifikaat ontvang. Die oggend was afgesluit met ‘n heerlike worsbraai.

By-laws Building wise - buying a home?
The City of Ekurhuleni is applying a robust approach to address service delivery shortfalls across the region. In October they began with a series of ByLaw Enforcement Blitzes that will run until December. The aim of the blitzes is to identify critical issues within communities. “By-laws are laws passed by the municipality that regulate activities within the City of Ekurhuleni. It is therefore vital that individuals and businesses conduct their daily activities within the boundaries of these rules, which exist to maintain order,” says Themba Gadebe. The blitzes are a multi-departmental intervention, and site visits involve officials from the City Planning, Environmental Health, Outdoor Advertising, Parks, Roads, Energy, Water and Sanitation, Urban Management departments, as well as Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police officers. They focus on overgrown grass, maintenance of parks, potholes, non-functional street lights, illegal posters, illegal dumping & littering, water leaks & pipe blockages, illegal taverns, missing manhole covers and dilapidated buildings. When looking for a new home, the buyer should be aware of certain pitfalls and problems with the structure that could easily crop up. There is added risk when doing a private deal without the assistance of a registered estate/property agent. Buyers must also remember that even when using the services of estate/ property agents, that those agents cannot be expected to be experts in construction technology. Prospective buyers should therefore check the following points with their agent, or when in doubt or uncertain, get an independent expert to do inspections and obtain a full report. Such an expert should be a professional engineer or a professional person registered with the S A Council for the Architectural Profession. 1. Check with the municipality that there are approved plans on record for all the structures on the stand, including additions, lapas, swimming pools, carports, sheds, etc. If there are no approved plans it means that those parts of buildings or structures not shown on plans are illegal, and plans will have to be drawn up and submitted for which the buyer will be
responsible once the property is in his name. 2. If the plans for the house were approved after November 2011, they must comply with the Energy Efficiency Regulations, and the seller must supply the buyer with a certificate of compliance from a competent person registered with the SA Council for the Architectural Profession. These certificates will be required by financial institutions in the near future, and making an existing building to comply with the requirements afterwards can be a quite costly business. 3. Check the orientation of the house: it should be mainly North facing, or you could land up with a home that is freezing in winter or a stifling oven in summer! 4. Look for the following warning signals: ants/termites/borers in the roof timbers, rust on roof sheets and in gutters and water marks on ceilings indicating roof leaks; check for rising damp in walls, test water pipes for ‘hammering’ and inspect washba-sins and toilet pans for hairline cracks. Is the roof on the outside level or is it ‘sagging’? 5. Check all wall tiles and floor tiles for
hairline cracks. Are there enough spare tiles available on site to repair these or will you have to strip up the whole floor or wall to repair it properly? 6. Are there big trees closer than 6 meters from the building that are of a type that can cause foundation failure? 7. Cracks in walls: there are different types of cracks, ranging from minor plaster cracks to major construction failure indicators. Look for cracks recently repaired. If any cracks or repairs are observed, call in the experts. Most inspectors and valuators from the financial institutions only verify that the value of the building as it stands, including all its faults, is sufficient to cover the proposed bond: they do not certify that all is well, and their inspection is not a detailed technical or structural one. All these above matters should be attended to before you make your Offer to Purchase. Skitterende Conflagrant Celosia are few challenges a gardener ouderdom There would not take on when it comes to the art of outdoor decorating … but finding something bolder or more striking than celosia, is one of them. With its origins under much debate, it is clear they were once found on the dry slopes of Africa, or so the story goes. Whether that is their true origin or not, it is clearly a place they enjoy residing. Other places they’ve called home are India and rocky regions of North & South America. The name celosia is derived from the Greek word “kçlos”, meaning “burned”, which resembles the visual appearance of one of our commonly available varieties, celosia plumosa. Oom Pieter Jan Hendrik de Meyer is op 12 November 1919 gebore. Tot onlangs het hy nog in sy eie woonstel gebly op die terrein van Nigel Tehuis vir bejaardes, maar bly nou binne waar hy sy eie kamer het. Oom Pieter se hy het op 96 al sy familie oorleef.

Vermoedelik word die dooie visse deur jakkalse en wilde katte gevreet, asook die voëls gebruik dit as prooi. Hierdie bose kringloop bein-vloed die boer en sy beeste
wat water drink. Volgens ‘n visserman word die dooie visse uitgeskep en verkoop in die lokasie. Hoeveel siektes gaan uitbreek as gevolg van hierdie riool. Inwoners vra dat leser bewus sal word van hierdie ernstige toeloop van sake en pleit by die munisipaliteit dat daar dringend werk gemaak sal word van die omstandighede. Dis ons natuur, ons diere en ons water gebruik wat vernietig word so kan dit nie aangaan nie!
