Heidelberg Hospital one of Gauteng’s most reputable public hospitals Gauteng Health MEC Gwen Ramokgopa has confirmed that more than 20‚000 patients have been harmed due to negligence in the space of two-and-a-half years at state hospitals in Gauteng. Ramokgopa quoted the figure in a written response to questions posed in the Gauteng Legislature by Democratic Alliance MPL Jack Bloom. When patients are harmed unintentionally‚ by an act of commission or omission rather than their underlying illness or condition‚ the incidents are recorded as “Serious Adverse Events”. There have been 20‚417 of these incidents in the province since 2016‚ to date. “Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital is the most dangerous hospital for patients in
Gauteng‚ with 4‚320 recorded incidents‚” Bloom said in a statement. Ramokgopa confirmed that the cases were‚ broadly speaking‚ related to “allegations of negligence‚ incompetence of staff members‚ human errors‚ secondment of patients and system failure”. A breakdown of the incidents shows that there were 6‚192 in 2016‚ 9‚767 in 2017 and 4‚458 between the start of 2018 and June. Incidents recorded at other academic hospitals included: Steve Biko Hospital (1‚789)‚ George Mukhari Hospital (1‚574) and Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Hospital (1‚262). The highest number of incidents recorded at other hospitals in the province were:
Sebokeng Hospital (1‚487)‚ Thelle Mogoerane Hospital (1‚387)‚ Helen Joseph Hospital (1‚044)‚ Tembisa Hospital (865)‚ Rahima Moosa Hospital (860)‚ Mamelodi Hospital (824)‚ Leratong Hospital (651)‚ Far East Rand Hospital (644)‚ Tambo Memorial Hospital (615)‚ Kalafong Hospital (413)‚ Pholosong Hospital (384) and Bertha Gxowa Hospital (323). Heidelberg Hospital had the lowest number of incidents at 42 . Ramokgopa said that action taken after such incidents involved disciplining staff‚ referral to the police‚ and referrals to the Health Professions Council and the Health Professions Councils well as various preventative measures.
“The shockingly high number of harmful events to patients highlights the crisis in public health that is driving up medical negligence cases which lead to huge court-ordered payouts‚” Bloom said.

Salvation is to many people a difficult term or concept to understand, but the long and the short of that is actually just to be saved from sin and death. And even if we are not interested to be part of Christianity or a church everyone is interests in being saved and protected against eternal suffering in some or other way. Just as we love to swim but don’t want to drown in the water, our sinful nature wants to continue with the wrong things but we don’t really want to lose our lives because of that. All through Scripture we clearly see the intention of God in His interaction with us as humans. God’s intent is mercy and salvation for all His people. You can’t read the Bible without seeing it. So God’s intention is that none of His people will be lost to death and not join Him in Heaven for eternity. His people will not be lost on some technicality or small slipup, for that God is far to generous. We can trust God to be a righteous judge who will not make a mistake. And because of His mercy and grace He has given us a way to be assured of salvation and this we find in the death and resurrection of Jesus. But what if you don’t accept this angle for salvation? What if I don’t believe in Jesus? Am I then lost forever? That’s a question I can’t answer. This is however how I understand the Bible and the many teachings and explanations in the Bible. Let’s look at it from another angle as cleverly explained by James Scott Bel in Final Witness. Contracts are agreements between two parties. Before there is a contract both parties must agree on the terms and sign the contract. So if one party makes an offer, there is no contract until the other party accepts the terms of the offer and sign in acceptance. But what if the other party, instead of accepting the terms of the offer, changes them, and then says “I will accept this contract with these changes”. Is there then a contract? No. It’s only a counter-offer. And there is still no contract unless the original party accepts the terms of the counter offer and sign then in agreement. God is offering us a contract. He says that if certain terms are accepted, He will provide a certain result. And that is

Now, anyone who does not accept Jesus is making a counter offer to God, changing the terms of God’s contract. So is there an agreement? No. Not unless God accepts those changes. Will He? I don’t know. No one does. We only know what is written and revealed in the Word of God as we get it in the Bible. Every Christian, including me, is acting as an agent for God, sharing and explaining the content and terms of the contract. An agent cannot change the content or terms of the contract. If someone wants to make a counter offer, there is no way I can say he has reached an agreement with God or if God will consider it. But I can say that if you meet God’s terms, you definitely will have an agreement with guarantees. And that leaves the ball strictly in your court. What have you done about the contract God is offering you? Have you accepted, agreed and signed His contract? Or are you busy with a counter offer with no guarantee that He will accept and sign? No guarantee that your life will be saved. Life is to short friends, don’t waste time . !

The Gauteng Department of Community Safety officers working closely with Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested four officials at the Germiston Testing Station for fraudulently canceling traffic violation fines and other related documents. After a thorough and wide ranging investigation which started last year, authorities discovered that the suspects have been involved in dumping outstanding traffic violation fines to deceased people to be able to process fraudulent documents. The crime committed at various testing stations in the country is alleged to
amounts to R80 million. The sting operation led to the arrest of five officials from the Bedfordview and Alberton testing stations respectively. To date, nine suspects have been apprehended and more arrests are expected. “I commend officers from the Gauteng Traffic Police, RTMC and SAPS for the sterling work in rooting out criminal elements within Driver, Learner Testing Centres (DTLCs). NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The neighbourhood watch system is something which has arisen from the fight against crime, and which has achieved a great deal of success. Residents of an area form groups which protect their own area by being on the lookout for suspicious persons and vehicles, looking after their neighbour‘s property in their absence, and generally being aware of what is going on in the neighbourhood. Houses belonging to the neighbourhood watch often display clear notices to this effect. What is more, members are encouraged and helped with the recording of serial numbers of valuable items, or with having them engraved to make it easier to identify stolen items later. In general, the neighbourhood watch system is simply the expression of good neighbourliness where residents are not only concerned about each other‘s safety, but about each other‘s property as well. These schemes are very effective and criminals know all too well that houses displaying a neighbourhood watch sign are no easy target. COLLECT YOUR ID, IT IS REQUIRED FOR MANY MUNICIPAL SERVICES The City of Ekurhuleni has partnered with the Department of Home Affairs to get residents to collect their ID from Home Affairs offices. Ms Lindiwe Khonjelwayo, the Divisional Head responsible for Women, Children and People with Disability in the Office of the Executive Mayor said there are more than 2 600 uncollected IDs in the Southern Region of the City alone. “Many residents are unable to access social services, including registration on the City’s indigent programme to get free services, due to lack of IDs. As we celebrate the Women’s Month, we call on women to take leadership role by collecting their IDs to access government services,” Ms Khonjelwayo said.

Warning scam artists Fake Facebook account
In the first ruling issued by the Press Ombud against a publication for using a fake Facebook account as a source for an article, the Ombud, Johan Retief, has directed the Daily Maverick to apologise to the complainant. Ms Lumka Oliphant, spokesperson for the Minister of Social Development Bathabile Dlamini, had lodged a complaint with the Ombud against the Daily Maverick over an article which alleged that either she or the Minister had issued tweets while former CEO of Sassa Thokozani Magwaza and former Director-General of the Department of Social Development DG Zane Dangor were testifying in the inquiry into what came to be known as the Sassagate Scandal. Tweets rolled out on what the Daily Maverick said were from Dlamini’s “official account” as the inquiry was going on. In her submission to the Ombud, Oliphant said that her twitter account was different from that used to issue the tweets, and pointed out that the official DSD Facebook account was also different, as was the twitter handle. She said that she had issued a media statement on March 31 2018 headlined, “Minister Bathabile warns of fake Facebook and Twitter accounts”. She also stated in the media release that the Minister’s twitter and Facebook accounts were de-activated in January

Kommer oor nuwe skoolwet Gratis water eindig
Die nuwe wysigingswets op die Skolewet gaan 'n reuse impak op skole se onafhanklikheid hê. Beheerliggame gaan bykans al hulle magte ten opsigte van leerlingtoelating, taal en personeelaanstellings verloor. Skole gaan eenvoudig tot staatsinstellings genasionaliseer word en verval in grootskaalse diensleweringsprobleme, regstellende aksie teikens en algehele verval. Panyaza Lesufi, die Gautengse LUR vir onderwys, het nietemin op 2 November 2017, tydens 'n onderhoud op 702, aankondigings oor die bestuur van Gautengse skole gemaak wat in ooreenstemming is met dié wysigingswetsontwerp wat nog nie eers goedgekeur is nie. Algehele agteruitgang en verval. 'n Verlies aan vaardige onderwysers wat groener weivelde oorsee gaan soek is een
van die kwellings wat gaan kop uitsteek. Alle verkryging en verspreiding van studiemateriaal en skryfbehoeftes word gesentraliseer, wat beslis sal lei tot korrupsie met tenders, laer gehalte materiaal en nog meer, skole sonder handboeke. Skoolgemeenskappe word vervreem omdat hulle nie meer inspraak in skole het nie. “Social cohesion, transformation and equality above all” sal as nuwe onderwysprioriteite beklemtoon word. “World battles” Arizona JD Haasbroek ‘n graad 8 leerder van Hoërskool John Vorster deel van ReeMicks dansskool is gekies om Suid Afrika in Arizona te verteenwoordig. Op die ouderdom van 3 jaar het JD reeds ‘n passie vir hip hop en energie dans ontwikkel. JD was vir jare verbonde aan Rene’s dansskool waar hy talle individuele provinsiale prestasies behaal het. Met hierdie groot mylpale is hy later deel van die ReeMicks dansskool te Alberton wat dan ook op internasionale vlak
meeding. Dit verg harde werk en uithou vermoë en baie dissipline om te kan meeding in Arizona. Die byeenkoms het verlede week in Arizona in die VSA plaasgevind en was ‘n fantastiese verrykkende ondervinding vir JD en sy groep mede sterre bekend as CHX.
