1.1BadmintonSchoolisanindependentdayandboardingschoolforfemalepupils.Itwasfoundedin 1858andmovedtoitspresentsitein1924.Theschoolcomprisesthreesections:junior,whichincludes anEarlyYearsFoundationStage(EYFS)setting;senior;andsixthform.Therearethreeboarding houseswhichcaterforboardersinYears5to8;Years9to11;andsixthformers.Theschoolhas identified68pupilsashavingspecialeducationalneedsand/ordisabilities(SEND),49ofwhomreceive additionalspecialistsupport.Nopupilhasaneducation,healthandcare(EHC)plan.Englishisan additionallanguage(EAL)for55pupils,ofwhom41receiveadditionalsupportfortheirEnglish.The school’spreviousinspectionwasafocusedcomplianceandeducationalqualityinspectioninOctober 2022.

2.13Safeguardingmattersaresuitablyoverseenbythedesignatedsafeguardinglead(DSL)whoisa memberoftheseniorleadershipteam,supportedbydeputyDSLs,includingintheEYFSandboarding. TheDSLliaiseseffectivelywiththegovernorresponsibleforsafeguardingtoensureeffectiveoversight ofsafeguardingprocedures,tomonitortheimplementationofthepolicyandtoensurethatanannual reviewofsafeguardingisundertakeninlinewiththelocalauthorityframework.Duringdiscussions, staffdemonstratedthattheyhadunderstoodrecenttrainingwithregardtoKeepingChildrenSafein Education(KCSIE)2022,includingwithregardtochild-on-childabuse,contextualsafeguardingand respondingtolow-levelconcerns.Staffaresuitablyinductedintheschool’sprocedures,includinga suitablestaffcodeofconduct,whentheyjointheschool,andthisisenhancedthroughtraining sessionsatthestartofeachtermandregularupdates.TheDSLshaveattendedtheappropriatelevel ofinter-agencytraining.Governorshaveundergonesuitabletraininginsafeguarding.
