VENTUS L.A

This project explores the potential of wind in generating spatial conditions and articulations within the realm of architectural design. The process of particle simulation was used to form, deform, craft, and sculpt the design in order to deviate, capture, and receive the wind based on the different needs of each space. The design follows the logics of automotive design; where air intakes become openings and apertures for the building to provide light, air, and views to the river in the site. This thesis project is a hybrid model between the automotive industry and architecture. This design is a speculation of human experience, where fluidity and seamlessness offer many ways of exploring a building and its context.

Aerodynamic Simulation Using Particle Animation and Trail Trajectory 08

The purpose of this process is to study particles behavior as they deviate or bounce back from the collision with a given geometry. The goal was to develop a shape that dictates the particles movement as a representation of how the wind would potentially circulate inside and around the building.

Hypertower 2.0 Mixed-use high-rise tower, transportation hub, station and hotel. Exploring the potential of technology in linking between humans, machines and architecture. This project looks closely at three types of current - or under development - systems of mobility that will shape the formal language of this tower. The idea of the future has always been an exciting challenge and research for architects and designers. This project explores the potential of an elevated infrastructure that would become the center for major transportations in the city of Los Angeles as well as the major states in the country. The tower behaves as a station that receives the Hyperloop, the drones, as well as the VTOL vehicles. The concept is to push the boundaries of occupying the city through an exploration of the oblique to generate moments of disequilibrium as well as a strong feeling of dynamism within the occupied structure.

Leimert Park Housing

This project explores the idea of co-living as a system to better exploit space to provide many facilities for the residents of Leimert Park in the city of Los Angeles. The purpose was to design an apartment building that incorporates an elevated interior park that serves as a community for people to gather, cook together, and spend more time there instead of inside their rooms. The elevated platform allows for the making of a public museum that showcases the artwork and history of Jazz. The fluid form of the lobby allows for a polyvalent open space which could host a farmers market, ceremonies, sport activities, and music events.

Hypertower 1.0

Early exploration of a potential high rise building as a transportation hub that includes futuristic modes of travel such as the hyperloop, the VTOL vehicles, and the drones. Each UFO is a station for the different machines of mobility. The tubes that float over the city were designed based on the hyperloop’s minimum turning radius of 100 meters. In order to avoid intersections between the channels, the proposed scheme creates a dynamic elevated infrastructure.
