Mae’n bleser mawr i mi eich croesawu i Wobrau eleni, sef y 30ain mlynedd y mae BAFTA Cymru wedi dathlu’r gorau oll ymhlith talent a chynyrchiadau o Gymru. Fe’m ganwyd yng Nghymru ac rydw i bob amser wedi bod yn falch o’m gwreiddiau. Mae’r Gwobrau hyn, a’r dalent ryfeddol o Gymru maen nhw’n ei hamlygu, yn agos i’m calon o hyd.
Gall eich gwaith eithriadol fod yn sbardun i ysbrydoli’r genhedlaeth nesaf. Mae cefnogi talent newydd a thalent sy’n dod i’r amlwg – gan eu helpu i gael hyd i’w ffordd a mynegi eu hunain yn greadigol – beth bynnag fo’u cefndir, yn ganolog i ethos arweiniol BAFTA. Mae’n hollbwysig ein bod yn arwain y ffordd wrth helpu i greu diwydiant cynhwysol ac amrywiol o bobl dalentog.
Gan ddefnyddio canfyddiadau allweddol Adolygiad BAFTA 2020, rydym wedi datblygu cynlluniau uchelgeisiol ar gyfer dyfodol ein rhaglen datblygu talent a dysgu. Bwriadwn ymgysylltu â mwy na 10 miliwn o bobl ar-lein a rhoi’r sgiliau i 80,000 o bobl i ddatblygu gyrfa yng nghelfyddydau’r sgrin. Bydd ailddatblygu ein pencadlys yn ganolog i’r rhaglen ehangach hon, gan ganiatáu i ni gynnal amrywiaeth ehangach o ddigwyddiadau y gellir eu ffrydio’n fyw er mwyn i bawb gael atynt a’u mwynhau. Bydd BAFTA 195, a fydd yn ailagor yn swyddogol yn gynnar yn 2022, yn ganolfan ar gyfer ein gweithgareddau byd-eang, gan roi’r cyfleusterau i ni i helpu i ddylanwadu ar fywydau mwy o dalent bosibl ac ymgysylltu â’r cyhoedd, ble bynnag maent yn byw.
Does dim byd tebyg i’n diwydiannau ni. Pan fyddant ar eu gorau, maen nhw’n rym pwerus a phositif. Mae’r Gwobrau hyn yn dathlu hynny, a llongyfarchaf holl enwebeion eleni.

A WARM WELCOME
It’s with great pleasure that I welcome you to this year’s Awards, marking the 30th year BAFTA Cymru has celebrated the very best talent and productions in Wales. I was born in Wales and have always been proud of my roots. These Awards, and the incredible Welsh talent they spotlight, remain close to my heart.
Your exceptional work can be the catalyst to inspire the next generation. Supporting new and emerging talent – helping them find their way and express themselves creatively – whatever their background, is central to BAFTA’s guiding ethos. It is vital that we take a leading role in helping build an inclusive and diverse industry of talented people.
Informed by the crucial findings of our 2020 BAFTA Review, we have developed ambitious plans for the future of our learning and talent development programme. We aim to engage more than 10m people online and equip 80,000 with the tools to develop a career in the screen arts. The redevelopment of our headquarters will play a key part in this enhanced programme, allowing us to host a greater variety of events that can be streamed live for everyone to access and enjoy. BAFTA 195, which officially reopens in early 2022, will be the central hub for our global activities, providing us with the facilities to help impact the lives of more potential talent and engage the public, wherever they may live.
There’s nothing quite like our industries. When at their best, they are a powerful and positive force. These Awards celebrate that and I congratulate all of this year’s nominees.
