SITE OVERVIEW

Sejong

_daero is Joseon’s political symbolics street. The design area of former site is National Tax Service building which is located in a meeting point between Seohakdang-gil street and a new street of the Korean Empire.

The

main goal of this project is to link the site of the former National Tax Service Building to urban architectural heritage and the surroundings that contain various cultural activities. Developing a historic cultural place harmonizes past, present, and future.

The

surrounding historical facilities such as Deoksugung, City Hall, and Hwangu-dan have been the historical hubs of South Korea and create a symbolic cultural scenery. The site could be formed as a public space which inherits the historical atmosphere and reflects a public character of this place.

UNDERGROUND MASTERPLAN

UNDERGROUND DESIGN DIAGRAMS

We

hope to deal with this site with Sejong-daero district, both on the ground and the underground level which can enable tourists move continuously fromground to underground.

IDEA GENERATION DESIGN DIAGRAMS

When

it comes to the underground Masterplan, we follow our original design concept, treating the underground areas as one part of the course of history which means we unfold of the interior structure of the “slicing history”. What we can see are

the various and irregular form of fabrics, which there are apparent horizontal and parallel connections, that serves as a bridge between the historical stories.

IMAGE COLLAGE

CONCEPTUAL MODEL

What

we are trying to focus on is the inter-relationship among the architectural form, history and culture. With the time passing by, the historic track and trail serve as a bridge between the past and the future which, to some extent, contribute to building up the charm of the whole districts or even the city. As historical trace

accumulating, they are supposed to precipitate and also intermingle one another that can be regarded as a kind of historic fabric or context. By means of slicing and pulling, what illustrates us is the interior structure of history stories. Looking inside, we can find out there still some connections among them. This connection and forward development tendency can

better show the relationship among the past, today and the future. Hence, we treat the void between the slices as a method to look inside of history and culture and also a sort of way to develop our design. The transparent space at the bottom represents the past history which can certainly attract tourists and indigenous people to perceive the history and

culture which is also the most exciting part of our design. The upper part is a intact square which means the uncut history. We treat such space as our interactive space to develop our historic exhibition so as to enable individuals easily touch and comprehend what the past happened, how we possess our lives today and what the history expected us to know about.

The

importance of the relationship between the environment and design part is the diversing perspectives towards different directions . Our hope

is that people are provided with a transparent sight views which means people could watch the other buildings in a different method of division.

1-1 SECTION

What

we expect is that “The Sliced His-

tory can be regarded as a simple and pure building, standing out this district. In stead of many multifarious adornments, we utilise the simple materials like glass and steel to make the shape. Looking at a distance, it seems like everything turns into transparent at the bottom as if the upper square part is floating in the air. However, the transparent appearance will not influence the interior functionality and the individual activities.

The

interior light we use are soft ones that we

can make people feel comfortable in the buildings. Standing at this place, we think as if the surroundings are lightened by it at night. There are much relevance between them. As a part of history, not only can it accommodate many people with all different backgrounds, also serves as a kind of intercommunication that make the design area and underground area connected.

The

design area is located in the 321 Old Lane, North of the TAIINAN City which was a japanese officers' dwellings. Nowadays, it has been used as a Art settlement by many artists. When it comes to the design area,

The

the TAINAN government expect to reform it shape and structure, treating it as a exhibition space of the litterateurs' lives. Accordingly, we chose a very famous litterateur in TAIWAN, named SANMAO as our design client.

design area cover 2 an area of 1800 m and has plenty usable land and also has many multiple vegetations to utilise. In addition, when it comes to the ground, it has a slight slope land. Connecting all of those characters, we connect the main vegetations in a

The SAN

mao was a novelist, translator and famous writer. Born as Chen Mao Ping, Her work ranges from autobiographical writing, to travel writing and reflective novels, to translations of European comic books. The first public work is The Stories of the Sahara, which was on her experiences living in the Shara together with her Spanish husband Jose, whom she first met in Madrid and later married in 1973 while living together in the then Spanishcontrolled western Sahara. It was an eye-opening account of life and love in the desert, and quickly established Sanmao as a travel writer with a unique voice and perspective.

original shape. Above those prerequisites, it is easy to draw its path. Surely, we also need the column to bear the weight. The column we use is like a funnel due to the fact that it can better to handle with the falling rain.

The

wind flow circulation is based on the local wind direction which is southwest. On this flow, we hope the gaps can lead the wind.

The

underground also has a series of water lead system which is most formed by falling rain. It can nourish the plants living in the design area.

SAN

mao is a open and free person. She likes to experience different lives without any restrictions. So, we use the period of Sanmao's lives living in the Sahara as our the main concept. Then, we hope to extract some elements like free curves to form our design.

There

has two kinds of the tourists flow lines. The one is for ground level. The other one is above the ground - viewing ground.

Looking from the section below, it is easy to understand that the whole area has three hierarchies ( senery platform +2.40m, desert ground area Âą0.0m and underground water collection system respectively). When it comes to the ground area, the altitude difference in the similar

desert area are no more than 0.45m. Hence, it can definitely meet all individuals' need also including the disabled.

Symbiote City Design Zhuhai, PR, China Academic Group Work As Idea Provider And Most Rendering Partner : Weijie CHEN October, 8th 2014 December, 23th 2014 1st semester of the 3rd year Tutor : Nan ZHANG, Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai The competition of reconstruction of the street of Dong AN village.

NOTE1

The

transformation village is located in the Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai city. The main stems are formed by BeiBao street, DongBao street, XiBao street and DaShi street and so on. The southwest of the land area which coverd by the new buildings are most accomodated by the external population. In addition, the southeast and northwest areas are gathered by the old stylish dwellings where emit a strong sense of historical smell.

NOTE1

The

note 2 is located the centre of the leisure spot. Most Local people would love to go there to have a rest and chat with friends. around this area, there are a few one hundred year of the ancient tree and also the ground has slight grade. Therefore, we use the relationship between height difference and the visual spot to creat a series of leisure place. Through ups and downs, people could experience differing spaces. Some of them are open to the main road, while others are secret to the public.

Our

design is all based on one prerequisite which makes a small change in order to gain a big improve. We choose a few small discarded spaces as our main design areas such as the triangle semi-enclosed space which can serve the dwellers again. Via the division of those spaces and also the variation of the texture, we hope they can integrate well with the original circumstance and provide more convenience for individuals.

CIRCULATION

From

the analysis of the circulations and activity areas, then we choose four design areas to transform. Every of them is the space which is abandoned by the villagers because of the boundedness of using. What we want is to reuse these places and creat stimulating space for the locals.

think the most important information is what kind of the spaces that people love to stay and have a rest in there. By means of questionaires, then we know about most local people do not want to change a lot about their living environment and also they want more connection space in their neighborhood.

Zoning

Near

the main gate, there is a abandoned triangle space. This space is narrow and cramped. So we use the original shape to creat a series of triangle greening platforms in order to disperse the people flow and also provide dwellers with a recreational facilities. This space is between two houses and face to the main road. Hence, we use height difference and trees to make some secret interspaces. There are a few point of sight which are formed by serial trees .

NOTE2

The

height of the viewing platforms are designed based on the human engineering. we calculate the rough average height of the local people and then set -0.8m and 1.65m as our main data. In order to obtain enough sunlight time, we set serial sun reflectors on the right place to get the sunlight and also decrease the sun glare.

NOTE3

We

set up a series of canopies and visual platforms which can definitely increase the enjoyment of the main road. The locals and tourists can use those road notes to have a rest and stay for a temporary moment. This small act of action may have a big step for the strangers and tourists. People come to the notes and then have a relaxed conversation with others which is a good way to decrease the strangeness among people.

Visual platform

Canopy

The

narrow and cramped space is located between in two houses. Due to many restrictions, it has been abandoned for many years. Hence, we split the narrow space with three seperate parts which the length and width are easy to be fully used. Then we treat them separately and meanwhile the footpath trajects in the three parts. When it comes to the individual first experience, we hope this place is private and semi-private for the locals. As for the elevations, we use the soft materials instead of the hard ones.

Hidden Anchorite Architectual Design Zhuhai, PR, China Competition, individual work October, 2nd 2015 — November, 11th 2015 Tutor : Zhihong CAI, Huaqiao University Poland, Krakow Lung Cancer Centre Design Competition

What Even

though Krakow is a major tourist destination, its popularity fades in colder months; not due to the weather but due to the smog. Air pollution is an ever-present threat to those living in krakow, causing alarmingly high numbers of asthma, chronic lung diseases and lung cancer cases. The

I am trying to focus on is what experience that the building can provide for individuals. Specifically, the design area has four different main entrances to the centre of the park. Hence, what is the most important is about the feelings when people go through the entance and look directly at the building. So I choose to separate the function areas at the first floor and also make them connected to one another. The reason that I am doing this is because I want the building and people are more open to the park and the natural environment.

cause of these high levels of pollution is the city’s dependence on coal-burning furnaces to heat their homes and water. The key function of the building that we design will be to provide a comfortable and supportive environment in difficult times to the patients, as well as their friends and families.

1

The

The

chosen site is the Bror Hansson park, located in the heart of Krakow just across from its largest oncological research centre. There are four main entrances for the whole park. The park is surrounded by the trees and has a small square in the centre of the park. I hope my design can serve wll with all the faces of the landscape and also the entrances. Hence, I define my design as an anchorite that hide in the city which

are away from the hustle and bustle. With the highly industrialization and the severe pollution, people are desire finding a place to get away from the reality. What I am trying to convey the concept is to creat pure land which is hidden in the city like an Anchorite to make people, especially suffered from the Lung Cancer, have a place to relax themselves and are more exposured to the natural.

entrances are our design point. by means of analysis of the formation of the entrance, we can get a rough functonal areas. Each part will not stop people's view on the main entrances. They can get where they want immediately.

2

The 3

tranportation systems are separated by the function of the room places. The No.1 and No.3 diagrams are mainly open to the visitors and patients they can directly go to the dining rooms. The No.2 is mainly for the staff. Actually the main function staff rooms are mainly on the first floor.

When it comes to the night......

The

most interesting part is the inside of the building. Open areas at first floor (Reception, Library, First-aid room, Staff office and meeting room) and the semi—open at the upper areas (consulting rooms, kitchen and dining room, community area). In the interior area, it has functional vertical stair systems which can definitely meet different kinds of people's need. The best part is the library. It is all covered by the glass wall which are transparent to the park areas. People could pick up the books they love when they are walking on the upper stairs and also can enjoy the views whenever sitting in the platforms.
