Artist Profile: Emma Hack
Emma Hack is an Australian artist working in the unique medium of body paint installation and photography. Her astounding artworks have captured the attention of collectors and art lovers worldwide.
Emma has received great acclaim for her refined body paint camouflage technique; through a combination of painting on canvas, body painting and studio-based photography, her work evokes a rich array of visual narrative and magical realism.
Best known for her Wallpaper series (2005-2013) in which she painstakingly camouflaged the human form by hand painting her models into the remarkable designs of the late Florence Broadhurst. Emma's diverse artwork collections draw inspiration from unique Australian flora and fauna, as well as oriental influences, expanding to fine embroidered portraits.
The collection created for The Louise features lush garden settings with Emma’s muse painted to be at-one with her environment. Surrounded by butterflies, vines and fruit found in the Barossa, the works have a strong feminine strength with a centred calmness, characteristics for which Emma is renowned.
Guests arriving to The Louise are welcomed by Emma's work titled 'Gum and Galah', featuring the glorious bright foliage of a gum tree in bloom during high summer, adorned with a cheeky galah. Printed on meticulously hand-picked layers to create a 3D effect, the work is an ode to nuturing our native environment and the many beautiful birds living in the surrounds of the property.
