MEET ARCHITECT Carlos Montero

Mexico City witnessed the birth of awardwinning Architect Carlos Montero González in 1953; it was the place he called home.

With his signature smile, Carlos shares his life achievements, as he sips on freshly brewed Mexican coffee. He gracefully shares fond memories of his dearly remembered parents Juan Daniel Montero and Alicia González, as well as the many teachers and professors who helped him shape his successful career.

He studied architecture and an initial Master´s degree at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, which was then followed by a Master´s degree at the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña in Spain. As a world-class thinker and traveler, he is fluent in Spanish, English, understanding Italian as well. Architect Montero is the proud father of two successful young professionals who in many ways inspired him to create “Montero Arquitectos” in 1980.

Architect Montero says “Our unknown Peninsula of Baja California offers everything that we require to adjust our physical, mental, and spiritual ways. Our natural scenarios blend with the good practice of holistic and sustainable architecture. I consider that the optimization of natural resources in Baja is the solid foundation of my firm. Our structure is based on values, education, and passion for what we do”.

Carlos shares with us that he has been the creator of several luxury homes in Cabo since 1980 and all have been built within the most exclusive communities in the area, as he continues to list achievements and recognitions such as those awarded by Arquitectos Mexicanos, A Contemporary Vision, Homes of Cabo Architectural Digest, Design Icons Casa El Rincón del Sol in Cabo del Este, Architectural Digest, Bticino at the East Cape, Casa Bugambilia and Casa del Mar at Pedregal, Roundabout of Illustrious Men in Baja California Sur, Luxury Homes, Cuauhtémoc Park and the Sea of Cortés Magazine, among many others. Montero´s architecture is not only a wonder, he strongly believes in helping others by proving education to his community, he has actively participated since 1997 in the “Patronato de la Ciudad de los Niños, AC” helping children´s dreams become true. In 20017 he proudly founded “Sea Cortés” based on a play on words that not only refer to our beautiful sea but also means “Be Courteous” in Spanish, “Sea Cortés” is a nonprofit organization which promotes a courteous lifestyle, respect and peaceful community.
