This annual trip to Sacramento gives our members exclusive access to the administration, state legislators and leaders from key industry groups. It gives our members a chance to advocate for the needs and priorities of the local business community.

Throughout this past year, the Greater Bakersfield Chamber has continuously communicated with our members, whether it be COVID-19 relief resources, advocacy efforts or state and local public health updates; we have strived to help you navigate this journey. Our No. 1 priority has been to serve as the voice for our members and Bakersfield. Here are some examples of how we continue building something better, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic:

Provided outreach and signage to local businesses to mask up and socially distance, so that our community could safely remain open.

Took the lead on infrastructure of B3K (core group committed to finding sustainable jobs and pathways to prosperity with an eye toward diversity and inclusion). GBC took the lead along with the Kern Community Foundation and outside support in this groundbreaking initiative for Kern County.

As a leader locally and through our participation in many coalition efforts, our advocacy efforts has resulted in: • A California Based Chamber Coalition to push for stimulus in the beginning of the pandemic. • A partnership with Mayor Karen Goh to hold several roundtable discussions with various industries on how to safely reopen the economy. • Being an important part in implementing extensive deferrals for hotel taxes and permit fees. • Playing an integral role with local partners: The City, Kern County, among others to launch Kern

Recovers & BCares while assisting businesses and nonprofits in navigating grant programs.
