Being a local Bakersfield girl and the owner of a ladies boutique during a pandemic, has definitely had its challenges! When Gov. Newsom announced the shut down in mid-March, my store was at full capacity with beautiful clothes and gorgeous Brighton accessories. We had just mailed out our invitations Victoria Diffee to celebrate our big 25-year anniversary since I opened Victoria’s in The Marketplace. Never in a million years could any of us have imagined such a threat to our livelihood and well-being. The effect of having to close our doors at the beginning of our busiest spring season with Easter and Mother’s Day has been financially devastating! On a positive note, when times get tough, it can sometimes force one to look within and get creative! I chose to try to be positive and not give in. We’ve always talked about having our own website and now seemed to be the perfect time. Lucky for me, I have a sharp, young employee, who was eager to jump right in! We also ventured into social media and did Facebook lives, which allowed us to be able to show some of our customers what merchandise was available. This has been a fun way to communicate with our customers. For the two months we were shut down, this helped us have some cash flow. We also offered curbside pick-up and now we’re selling on our new website: www.shopatvictorias.com. I’m so grateful to be open now and am grateful to my loyal customers for their support! We are taking special precautions to ensure everyone's safety. We have sanitizing stations and our staff, along with our customers, wear masks. We also offer a great selection of masks for sale. At Victoria’s, we’re not at all like the big box stores! Our atmosphere is quiet and feels safe – we sanitize the dressing rooms and the clothes! Every day my employees and I take each other’s temperature. Health and safety is our No. 1 priority. We are now getting in our pretty new fall clothing! We also just started our Semi-Annual Sale with lots of clothes to choose from up to 70 perfect off and some Brighton is also on sale! We look forward to styling you!
