GET INVERTED : WORKSHOP In this workshop we will teach you how to safely and effectively go upside down. We will provide you the tools and techniques needed for a sustainable headstand, forearm stand, handstand and arm balance practice. You will develop the strength, confidence and proprioception needed to find balance when turned upside down. A strong inversion practice will develop core, shoulder and upper body strength that is now required of dancers. It will improve floor work, partner work, arm placement, turns, acrobatics and the extreme angular movements required of the upper body and shoulders in dance. Not to mention, it’s fun and freeing to get inverted. CADAVER LAB AND MYOFASCIAL MERIDIANS : INTENSIVE Course will take place in two parts. Part one will be in a studio setting with where some lecture and practice procedures will be presented, reviewed and discussed. Part two will take place in a lab setting where students will utilize human cadaver dissections in order to gain a thorough understanding of the major muscle groups throughout the body (i.e. superior limb, inferior limb, body wall, and extensor muscles) and gain a thorough understanding of the nerves that form the brachial and lumbosacral plexuses. The nature of this course will be a hands-on learning experience in which students will rotate through multiple stations throughout the lab where they can view, palpate, identify, and discuss the muscles previously dissected on various human cadavers.
