To safely and effectively instruct an intelligent class, knowledge of the human body and how it works is necessary. As movement instructors we must not injure our students and that requires awareness around common conditions students may come with, along with an ability to break down and assess movement. The study of the body is a tool for progression that when applied correctly moves you and your students forward. Our Comprehensive and Applied Anatomy Course will prepare you for the following mUvmethod modules. It can also serve as a refresher for those wanting to brush up on their knowledge of the human body. This course utilizes lectures, demonstrations and movement to teach basic anatomy essentials. Along with a 3 hour cadaver lab experience. The focus is on anatomical terminology, planes of motion and the various movements available at the joints. You will learn the majority of the bones in the body and their role in compression and determining one’s maximum range of motion. Along with muscle groups their origins, insertions, actions and which groups are prone to holding excess tension. Select yoga postures and simple Sun Salutations will be broken down to gain a deeper understanding of the functional anatomy at play and how the human body works. Participants will enhance their teaching skills, improve posture selection, and programming. In this course we will cover the 8 systems below. We will determine what they are, why we care and how you can apply this knowledge to your teaching. Along the way we will provide the facts and debunk many anatomical and physiological myths. Module 2: Let Go. Move Forward. This course is designed to help you let go and move forward. Many of us have emotional, mental and physical blocks getting in the way of our growth and progression. In this course we will cover meditation as a tool for mindfulness and gain insight into limiting thought patterns and emotional reactions getting in your way. We will discuss philosophies and ethics and how to live a modern “yoga” lifestyle. We will discuss and address fascial and muscular tension that develops when muscle groups aren’t supporting each other and working together.
