ANNUAL REPORT FY2020/21

Ballina Shire Council has released its annual report on ‘Population and Development Activity’ for the financial year 2020/21. This report provides a summary of key statistics relating to development activity in Ballina Shire including population growth, dwelling approvals, residential subdivision and the value of building work.

KEY STATISTICS

The Construction industry had the largest number of total registered businesses in Ballina Shire, comprising 18.0% of all total registered businesses, compared to 16.0% in New South Wales.In the 2020 September quarter, the unemployment rate in Ballina Shire was 3.5%. This figure is significantly lower than the regional rate of 5.7%, NSW 5.7% and national rate of 6.1%

DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY

The annual value of building work in Ballina Shire between FY2016/17 and 2020/21 across the categories of commercial, industrial, rural, residential and subdivisions has increased from $112,342,946 to $210,731,672.

The following chart shows the share of the value of total building work that occurred during FY2020/21 within the shire's development sub-regions.
