Bike Station and Solar Lights for Park Lane

A bicycle repair station and solar powered pedestrian lighting will be installed in Park Lane, Lennox Head in the coming weeks as part of the Streets as Shared Spaces - A Slow Path Not a Fast Shortcut project.

The project, which has involved the installation of a range of temporary traffic calming features and streetscape enhancements, has generally been well received by the community. However Council has made some adjustments in response to community feedback, including relocation of the mobile parklet closer to the skate park to provide more public seating. Council will launch an online survey in the coming months inviting the community to provide formal feedback.

The Streets as Shared Spaces – A Slow Path Not a Fast Shortcut project has included the installation of a temporary roundabout on Ballina Street that aims to slow traffic as it enters the village centre and facilitate better traffic flow out of Allens Parade. The speed limit has also been reduced to 30km/h around the Lennox Head village centre to improve pedestrian safety. A number of raised speed humps have been installed and although these are not formal pedestrian crossings, they act to slow traffic and make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road.

This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s ‘Streets as Shared Spaces’ program.
