Florida Department of Health in Escambia County Area 1 HIV/AIDS Program 850-595-6500, extension 1505 The Area 1 HIV/AIDS program provides services to persons living with HIV and AIDS in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties in Northwest Florida. Services may be provided directly by program staff or through contracts with area providers. Call for more information. Breastfeeding Program 850-595-6670, option 2 The breastfeeding program provides lactation education and support, including breast pump loans, to eligible mothers. Call for more information. Child School Physicals 850-595-6500, option 2 Physical exams required for school attendance are available for pre-K through 12th grade students. Services are provided for a set fee. Epidemiology 850-595-6683 The epidemiology program monitors incidences of communicable diseases and conditions that significantly affect public health. Call for more information. Family Planning Clinic 850-595-6500, option 2 The Family Planning clinic offers a variety of birth control methods and makes appropriate referrals. Family Planning also provides abstinence counseling and information about natural family planning. Participants will receive a clinical exam by a nurse practitioner or doctor which may include STI testing. The cost for a Family Planning visit is based upon ability to pay. Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer 850-595-6500, extension 1202 & Early Detection Program The Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (FBCCEDP) promotes early detection through connecting at-risk populations to resources for screening and treatment. The program targets women 50 to 64 years of age without Medicaid or insurance who live in Florida. Call for more information. HIV Prevention – Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Services 850-595-6345 and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Services Screens candidates and coordinates treatments to prevent HIV infections in Escambia County residents who are at high-risk for exposure, or have been exposed, to HIV. Immunizations 850-595-6500, option 2 FDOH-Escambia offers immunizations for children and adults. All childhood and adolescent immunizations are offered in accordance with the Bureau of Immunizations Schedule and the Florida School Guidelines. No-cost vaccinations are available to eligible children from six weeks through 18 years of age. Clients who are 19 years old and older may qualify for the Adult Vaccine Program that offers a certain vaccines for $18 each. A separate fee schedule exists for adults who do not meet the eligibility requirements for the Adult Vaccine Program. Call for a same-day appointment. Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic 850-595-6500, option 2 The STD clinic provides testing and treatment as well as education and counseling in a confidential setting. Tuberculosis 850-595-6500, extension 1210 FDOH-Escambia’s tuberculosis program collaborates with clinicians to ensure patients receive effective and timely treatment and that contact investigations are performed to minimize transmission.
