2021 E.C.M.S. Calendar of Events
The Physician Wellness Program (PWP) provides a safe harbor for physicians to receive wellness coaching to address life stressors in a confidential and professional environment.
Why was the program created?
Physicians face many obstacles daily with the current health care delivery system. It can be difficult to maintain a healthy work/life/family balance. These stressors can take their toll on physicians in the form of professional “burn out.”
The ECMS Foundation recognizes the importance of helping our physicians better manage stress and increase their resilience in dealing with the challenges of work/life balance.
By addressing areas of difficulty, we can decrease our stress levels and increase our level of resilience and effectiveness.
Some examples of those difficulties include:
Burnout Work-related issues Difficulty Managing Stress Family Issues Marriage/Relationship Problems Depression and Anxiety Mood Swings Suicidal Thoughts
How PWP works
The Escambia County Medical Society Foundation board has partnered with licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Rick Spencer and Dr. Paige Spencer. They will provide wellness coaching/counseling to the Escambia/Santa Rosa County Medical Society Active Members, for up to three visits per calendar year.
These providers will maintain a minimal confidential paper file for each physician, but no insurance will be billed. These visits will be completely private and the ECMS Foundation will not know who utilizes the program. As such, the program is completely
