WEDDINGS 2021
RUNNERS UP Deon + Darrian Glover by Phocus Photography (From Deon) Darrian and I both met at high school in Spanish class. She was a sophomore and I was a junior. We were classroom friends, but we never spoke after class. She had a slight crush on me (she was mesmerized by my jokes). After we both graduated, we remained connected through social media. Seven years after we graduated high school, I made the smoothest move and DM’d Darrian on Instagram. I told her, “The fact that you love God is truly amazing to me. Keep glowing.” I was hoping and praying that she responded to that message, and when she did, I knew that I had to take my shot. Again, she was mesmerized by my jokes and charm, and I was amazed by her beauty and overall spirit. I was living in Orlando at the time and she was in Pensacola. The idea of a long distance relationship was on my mind, but after just talking for about a week everyday on FaceTime, I knew that she was the one. (From Darrian) Deon proposed at the beginning of 2020. He proposed at the same place we had our first “real date,” which was at the beach in Orange Beach,
Alabama. He actually surprised me by having my parents and sister and his parents there at the proposal. It was great because it was the first time I met his dad who flew all the way from Chicago the day before. It was such a great moment to have our families together on this special day. Having everyone that we love dearly at the proposal made it even more special. My all-time favorite moment from the wedding was when my dad walked me down the aisle. He also officiated our wedding as well. Being a part of the ceremony, my dad passed down a mantle that had descriptions of a godly husband on it, and my dad and mom wrapped it around Deon. My husband had absolutely no idea this was going to happen. It was so special! On January 9, 2021, we got married at the beautiful Sowell Farms. The theme was Rustic Elegance. I rode into the ceremony in a white Cinderella carriage pulled by a beautiful white stallion, and my husband was able to ride in a red 1957 Chevy Bel Air. The normal way of planning a wedding became completely non-traditional. From wearing masks and having limited tryons at our bridal fittings to having Zoom call consultations with vendors, the challenges of COVID were crazy. On our wedding day, we encouraged everyone to

Our advice to future newlyweds would be to take a moment and enjoy the process of planning your wedding. Trust that everything will work itself out! Wedding vendors included Florals by Poppy Lee Florals, Film by Heart Crossed Films, Makeup by Bombshell Beats.
My advice for newly engaged couples is to take your time and don’t rush when planning. And no matter what you and your fiancé plan to do... it is your story and there is no right or wrong way to get married. It is the time to do absolutely anything you want to. You will never regret it! Don’t listen to opinions. This is your day.
by Kista Haas Photography Jarrett and I met in high school. I was a junior and he was a senior. We met in a trig class! We both went to UWF and he proposed the day we walked in our graduation ceremony! He is an engineer and I am an OB nurse and photographer. We dated for eight years before he proposed! We got married at Live Oak Plantation and fell in love with the location the first walk through we did. The theme of our wedding was Boho whimsical, but super fun and casual with food trucks. Our favorite aspect of our wedding was the support of friends, family and vendors to make the best out of the cards we were dealt during COVID. Our wedding date was April 4, 2020—days after the complete shut down. We ended up keeping our date and we eloped with our officiant / pastor. It was just us and the pastor due to the amount of people that could gather. This made the moment so intimate and we could not have chosen a better alternative. We decided to reschedule our wedding and we had a wedding and reception with our close friends and family
wear masks and performed temperature checks at the beginning of the ceremony.

We love how nontraditional it was and how it was so unique to us. Our honeymoon was supposed to be in Hawaii, but that was closed so we ended up going to Yosemite National Park and Napa Valley. We left the morning after the wedding, and we absolutely loved it.
