M&T BANK GAME PREVIEW

QUOTH THE RAVEN "I live for goal line. It's back against the wall, mano-a-mano. [Four games in, I'm learning to stay] more locked-in mentally. Sometimes my eyes get me in trouble when I see a little candy floating around. [I'm] just sticking to my guys and trusting the defense." – LB Patrick Queen

In today's Week 5 AFC North tilt, the Baltimore Ravens (3-1) host the Cincinnati Bengals (1-2-1). For the eighth time (2009-12, 2014, 2016 & 2018) in head coach John Harbaugh’s 13 seasons, the Ravens are off to a 3-1 start. Baltimore upended Washington, 31-17, last Sunday, while Cincinnati captured its first win of the season with a 33-25 decision over Jacksonville. Against Washington, the Ravens were led by QB Lamar Jackson, who threw 2 TDs passes (both to TE Mark Andrews) and ran for a career-long 50-yard score. Jackson was 14-of-21 for 193 yards, also tossing his first INT of the season (107.8 rating). WR Marquise Brown caught 4 passes for a team-high 86 receiving yards, while on defense, OLB Matthew Judon recorded 2 sacks and 5 QB hits. First-round rookie ILB Patrick Queen racked up a career-high 12 tackles, including 3 TFL. CB Marlon Humphrey forced a key fumble, which CB Marcus Peters recovered to kick-start Baltimore’s charge in the first quarter. The Ravens lead the all-time series with Cincinnati, 25-23. Baltimore has won five of the past eight games (including three straight). Under Coach Harbaugh, the Ravens are 12-12 vs. the Bengals. In the last meeting vs. Cincy (11/10/19), Baltimore earned a 49-13 road victory, as Jackson produced his second (Week 1 at Mia.) perfect 158.3 passer rating of the 2019 season. Jackson was 15-of17 for 223 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs in just three quarters of action. He added 65 rushing yards, including a spinning,

2019 unanimous nfl most valuable player

THE MOVE THAT SPUN CHARM CITY BY VERNON DENNIS

As the Ravens highlight 25 years of history, in just two-plus seasons, 23-year-old Lamar Jackson has already woven himself into the fabric of the franchise. He’s done it not only with his success and style of play, but by how he’s ingratiated himself into the organization with his personality, leadership and service in the community. Jackson was unanimously honored as the league’s Most Valuable Player last season when he eclipsed Michael Vick’s single-season quarterback rushing record and threw an NFL-high 36 touchdown passes. It’s fair to say that Jackson’s unique skillset presents a difficult task for most defenses. One instance last November against AFC North foe Cincinnati stands out. In Week 10 of the 2019 season, Jackson reeled off an immaculate 47-yard touchdown run that’s widely known as “The Spin Move.” Lined up in the shotgun on the Ravens’ first possession of the third quarter, Jackson ran the ball around the left end and made a series of elusive jukes and moves – including spinning his way past and through three Bengals defenders – en route to the end zone. Jackson finished the game with a perfect passer rating of 158.3 after completing 15-of-17 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns through the air, in addition to his 47yard “wizard-like” scamper.

Head Coach John Harbaugh was even surprised and taken aback by Jackson’s spectacular spin.

"Everybody knew him. He was the only dude at 8 years old that threw the ball,” recalled Brown.

“I said to the offensive coaches on the [headset], that [fans] will be watching that run for decades and decades,” Harbaugh said after the game. “That’s one that everyone in the country is going to see by tomorrow afternoon. That’s rare, that was special.”

"We still talk about those games, how he might have outrun somebody or hit somebody or threw a touchdown. We go at it and have memories about it all the time."

At the time, it was Jackson’s longest run of his career – until last Sunday at Washington, where he found the end zone on a 50-yard dash. Jackson made his first NFL start in a 2018 Week 11 matchup vs. the Bengals and has compiled a 3-0 record as a starter against the division rival. As Jackson has continuously declared, his ultimate goal is to win a Super Bowl championship. But little do people know, he has already accomplished the feat. At the age of 11, Jackson won a Super Bowl as the star of the Northwest Broward Raiders in the South Florida Youth Football League.

Jackson’s impact on the game, the Ravens organization and surrounding community, will only continue to rise. The City of Baltimore and the Ravens Flock will continue to love and embrace their quarterback as his supporters see nothing but great things to come. As he grows his legacy, the mark that Jackson has already left on the lives of so many will forever be celebrated for generations to come.

As his home region continues to be a hotbed for developing football talent, Jackson, along with teammate Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, were once players in the same youth league. Brown played against Jackson and recalls the MVP performing similar moves on the field, even as a child. 2020 BALTIMORE RAVENS GAMEDAY | 11

"THIS KID, THIS WONDERFUL LITTLE BOY, WHO WAS BECOMING A YOUNG MAN... TO RECOGNIZE WHAT HE DEALT WITH EVERY DAY, WITH THE CHALLENGES THAT HE HAD WITH HIS HEALTH, AND TO SEE THAT HIS SPIRIT SOARED WHILE HIS HEALTH FAILED HIM – THAT WAS A LESSON FOR ME. TO ME, IT WAS A GIFT. I WOULD SAY IT WAS A GIFT FROM GOD.”

– HEAD COACH JOHN HARBAUGH

IN OUR COMMUNITY

6/16 Mo Gaba was given a special drive-by parade to celebrate his eighth grade graduation by friends and family, and special surprises from mascot Poe, the Marching Ravens, G Bradley Bozeman and his wife, Nikki.

On October 14, 2019, Mo Gaba served as the team's honorary captain for Baltimore's Crucial Catch game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

A TRIBUTE TO OUR NO. 1 FAN Mo Gaba was one of the Ravens' biggest fans, even though he never saw a game. Gaba was first diagnosed with a malignant tumor of the retina at nine months old and lost his sight soon thereafter. Despite his lengthy battle with cancer, Gaba's positive spirit, loving nature, selflessness and bravery never wavered. Gaba's smile was infectious, and he left a lasting, positive impact on anyone who had the privilege of meeting him. In April of 2019, Gaba made history and stole the hearts of sports fans across the world when he became the first person to ever announce an NFL draft pick using Braille. In August, prior to the 2019 NFL season, the Ravens welcomed

Mo and his mother, Sonsy to the Under Armour Performance Center to watch practice and meet the team. In October, Mo stood in front of 71,000 Ravens fans as he was named the honorary captain for their Crucial Catch game. This past July, Mo tragically lost his battle with cancer. As a way to honor his memory, the Ravens created "Mo's Rows," a section of fan cutouts dedicated to Mo. In addition to honoring Mo's brave fight against cancer, today the Ravens also honor cancer survivors and those we've lost to cancer with specialized fan cutouts as part of their annual Crucial Catch initiative. All proceeds from the cutouts will be donated to the American Cancer Society as part of the team's "Crucial Catch: Intercept Cancer" campaign.

Follow us on Twitter @RavensCommunity

7/29 Mo Gaba will forever be enshrined in history, as the NFL draft card used by Gaba, stamped with Braille, was put on display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

9/13 The Ravens honored Mo by painting the 'MO' in the BALTIMORE-stenciled end zone gold and creating "Mo's Rows," a section of nearly 600 "fan cutouts" of Mo.
