After 20 years together... there’s nothing we can’t tackle. Trusted medical team of the Ravens. And you.
QUOTH THE RAVEN
“It doesn’t matter when, where or what, Lamar is the ultimate competitor. It’s just play after play after play of him making bigtime plays and helping this team win games. He does it better than anybody in the league, and we’re so fortunate to be with him and just try to help him out. He lays it all out on the line every game. It’s just really awesome, and he’s the best. He is the MVP.”
TE Mark Andrews on QB Lamar Jackson’s will & playmaking
Winners in eight of their past 10 games, the Baltimore Ravens (8-4) host the Philadelphia Eagles (9-2), who are riding a seven-game winning streak. The Ravens currently sit a half-game out of first place behind 8-3 Pittsburgh in the AFC North, while Philadelphia holds a 2.5-game lead over 7-5 Washington in the NFC East standings. Kickoff for this CBS nationally-broadcast contest is at 4:25 p.m. ET.
Today is the seventh-ever regular season battle between Baltimore and Philadelphia, with the Ravens owning a 3-2-1 series lead. Baltimore has won two straight vs. the Eagles and is 3-1 under John Harbaugh, who spent 10 seasons (1998-2007) coaching in Philly before becoming the Ravens’ head coach in 2008.
NUMBERS TO NOTE
1,325 – Rushing yards through 12 games for RB Derrick Henry, ranking No. 2 in the NFL behind Eagles RB Saquon Barkley (1,392).
15 – A league-high total TDs (13 rushing & 2 receiving) by RB Derrick Henry.
In his 17th season at Baltimore’s helm, Harbaugh stands as the NFL’s second-longest-tenured coach (Mike Tomlin – 18). He has led the Ravens to 11 playoff berths and produced a 180113 overall record (including playoffs), winning Super Bowl XLVII during the 2012 campaign.
Led by two-time MVP QB Lamar Jackson, the NFL’s No. 1 offense (426.7 ypg) squares off today against Philadelphia’s No. 1 defense (274.6 ypg allowed). Jackson has been magnificent both passing (3,053 yards, 27 TDs & 3 INTs for an NFL-best 117.3 rating) and rushing (599 yards & 3 TDs).
Baltimore’s No. 2-ranked rushing attack (180.2 ypg) is only behind the Eagles, who average a league-best 193.4 ground yards per game. RB Derrick Henry has produced the NFL’s second-most rushing yards (1,325),
19 – Consecutive games with at least one passing TD by QB Lamar Jackson, marking the NFL’s longest active streak. Last Monday at LAC, Jackson also surpassed the franchise record he previously set (18 straight games from Week 10 of 2020 to Week 13 of 2021) for the most consecutive games with at least 1 passing TD.
23-1 – QB Lamar Jackson’s record in games started vs. the NFC, marking the best-ever interconference winning percentage (.958) by a QB in NFL history. Jackson has thrown 40 TDs and just 9 INTs in these 24 starts, also rushing for 9 TDs.
78.7 – Red zone TD percentage by Baltimore’s offense, which ranks No. 1 in the NFL this season. The Ravens have scored a league-high 37 TDs on 47 RZ drives.
just behind Philly RB Saquon Barkley’s league-high 1,392 yards. Henry has registered NFL bests in total TDs (15) and rushing TDs (13), while Barkley ranks No. 2 in the league with 12 overall TDs (including 10 rushing).
DL Travis Jones
COACH HARBAUGH ON RESPECT, ADMIRATION & LOVE FOR HIS PLAYERS:
“The game really is about the players. It always has been about the players, and it will always be about the players. That’s why being strong and courageous is such a big deal, because it takes so much to play this game. You have to be strong and courageous to play football – you really do – and at this level, these guys sacrifice so much, and they go out there, and they just throw everything on the line. I have so much respect for the players.”
While he’s still the same ferocious defensive tackle who haunts opposing quarterbacks, there’s been something different about the anchor of Baltimore’s defensive line this season. On the eve of the 2024 campaign, Nnamdi Madubuike decided he would replace “Justin” and adopt his middle name, Nnamdi –one that connects him to his Nigerian ancestors.
Now in his fifth season with the Ravens, Madubuike is not only a force in the trenches, but a leader who wears his heritage and identity with pride.
Nnamdi – meaning “my father lives” or “my father is alive” – is the name that echoed through Madubuike’s childhood – the one his parents would lovingly call him. As the years passed, the choice became clear. It was time to fully embrace his Nigerian background and proudly go by the name that honors his lineage.
“I think culture is really, really important in how you were raised. I think it’s important to know where you come from and your roots,” Madubuike explained. “At the end of the day, I could have stuck with Justin, but it was just in my heart for a long time to hit that button.”
or complacency, but not Madubuike. He believes that greatness comes from staying humble and keeping the same grit and determination that got him here.
“I just try to keep the main thing the main thing, keep things simple, just keep working hard and keep developing as a player and more now as a leader,”
Having a front row seat to Madubuike’s tireless dedication, Jones can’t help but be inspired. He’s in awe – not only of Madubuike’s abilities on the field, but of the mentor into which he has evolved.
“Since I have gotten here, Nnamdi Madubuike has been a big role model for me,” Jones praised. “I have been looking up to him for the past two years, and seeing what he did last year gave me motivation to say, ‘I want to follow in his footsteps.’”
In 2023, “Beeks” exploded onto the national spotlight with a career-high 13 sacks, earning his first-career Pro Bowl nod while also garnering Associated Press second-team All-Pro honors. For his extraordinary efforts, the Ravens inked Madubuike to a lucrative four-year contract extension. For some, a deal of that magnitude might lead to distractions
Madubuike expressed. “I’m just trying to keep the same focus as I had the year before the extension.”
Madubuike is no longer flying under the radar in 2024. Offenses have made him a priority and are constantly throwing double teams his way in an attempt to contain him. However, this attention has helped open the door for players like Travis Jones to disrupt the line of scrimmage.
In Baltimore’s thrilling 35-34 Week 10 victory over the Bengals, Madubuike was an absolute gamewrecker, sacking Joe Burrow three times – including a key thirdquarter takedown that knocked Cincinnati out of field goal range.
After the game, Madubuike expressed that it has been more difficult getting to the quarterback this season. Yet, he didn’t let his sack total dampen his spirits, instead turning it into motivation.
“This year is definitely one with more double teams, and I could easily fall into the frustration bucket, but I choose to just stay poised and stay focused and just rely on my teammates to be like, ‘What can I do to get better? Don’t be discouraged and just keep fighting.’ That’s what I choose to do.”
Madubuike’s true influence goes beyond the numbers. His unwavering belief in himself, teammates and coaches helps fuel the Ravens’ spirit. Despite a new name, he’s still the same guy – the backbone of the D-line, drawing strength from his roots with every snap he takes.
AR’DARIUS WASHINGTON
Fourth-year safety Ar’Darius Washington has emerged to earn a starting role in the Ravens’ secondary this season. The undrafted free agent and Louisiana native has stepped up with key pass breakups in pivotal moments throughout the year and brings constant energy and effort when he’s on the field. Learn more about him below:
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE NBA/MLB/NHL/MLS TEAM?
I’d have to say the Dallas Mavericks. My favorite player, though, is Russell Westbrook.
WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST MOTIVATION?
I’d definitely say my son is my biggest motivation and also my mom.
WHICH RAVENS UNIFORM COMBINATION IS YOUR FAVORITE AND WHY?
I love the all black. That all black just looks scary, so you can never go wrong with that.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SUPERHERO AND WHY?
My favorite superhero growing up would probably be Spider-Man.
WHAT’S THE BACKGROUND BEHIND YOU WEARING YOUR JERSEY NUMBER?
Honestly, when I first got here, they gave me No. 47, and so then No. 29 became available, and I was like, “You know what, let me just get No. 29. I’ll take that.” That’s kind of the backstory of that.
WHO IS YOUR FIRST FAVORITE MUSICAL ARTIST?
Chris Brown, for sure.
WHICH TEAMMATE WOULD YOU WANT TO ACCOMPANY YOU ON A DESERTED ISLAND?
I would choose a couple, because they all bring something different. Definitely big Ben Cleveland – I feel like he knows how to survive on a deserted island for sure. Definitely Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry – they’re probably funny, and they’ll keep me laughing. And then probably Zay Flowers – he’s more adventurous, so I feel like Zay would be out there in the wild doing some crazy stuff out there.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOMECOOKED MEAL? WHO MAKES IT FOR YOU?
I’ve got a couple. My favorite thing is probably crawfish. I’m from Louisiana, so that’d probably be my favorite thing. But homecooked meal I’d say some jambalaya – crawfish etouffee. My sister makes it.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE COURSE THAT YOU TOOK IN COLLEGE?
I’d probably say communications, just because it made me step out of my comfort zone. I have to get up there and speak, and I didn’t want to. But I learned a lot when I was doing it.
