After 20 years together... there’s nothing we can’t tackle. Trusted medical team of the Ravens. And you.
QUOTH THE RAVEN
“Lamar Jackson does things that just don’t seem possible with the football in his hands. He makes throws, he runs, and he’s smart about [how] he protects himself, too. ... I love the way Lamar carries himself. I think he’ll have a great year this year.”
— Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning on QB Lamar Jackson
In their 2024 home opener, the Baltimore Ravens host the Las Vegas Raiders for a Week 2 battle from M&T Bank Stadium today. The Ravens are 20-8 all-time in home openers, sporting a 13-3 mark with head coach John Harbaugh at the helm.
In his 17th season with the Ravens, Harbaugh stands as the NFL’s secondlongest-tenured coach (Mike Tomlin - 18).
Under Harbaugh, Baltimore (11) is one of four teams (NE - 12, GB - 12 & KC - 11) to earn a playoff berth in at least 11 of the past 16 seasons. Baltimore (5) is also one of four teams (KC - 6, Buf. - 5 & Phi. - 5) to make the playoffs in at least five of the past six seasons (2018-23).
NUMBERS TO NOTE
3 – Consecutive games TE Isaiah Likely has recorded a TD reception of 25+ yards, dating back to last season. Likely has also posted at least 1 catch of 25+ yards in six straight games.
4 – Career games (including Week 1 at KC) with 250+ passing yards and 100+ rushing yards by QB Lamar Jackson, the most in NFL history.
Baltimore holds an 8-4 regular seasons series lead vs. the Raiders, including a 6-1 mark at home. Under Harbaugh, the Ravens are 5-3 against the Raiders, producing a 3-1 record in Charm City.
The Ravens-Raiders series has seen its share of offensive fireworks, with both teams combining for over 50 points in five of the past six contests. These teams last met in 2021, when Baltimore opened the season at Las Vegas and fell, 33-27, in an tight OT contest on Monday Night Football.
In the NFL’s season-opening game (Thurs., 9/5), the Ravens dropped a 27-20 heartbreaker at Kansas City. QB Lamar Jackson found TE Isaiah Likely for what was originally ruled a 10-yard TD pass as time expired in the fourth quarter, but the call was overturned upon review showing that Likely’s toe tip was out of bounds. Jackson
34 – Consecutive games Baltimore has rushed for 100+ yards, marking the fifth-longest streak in NFL history.
91 – Career rushing TDs for RB Derrick Henry, tying Hall of Famers Franco Harris & Jerome Bettis for the 11th most in NFL history.
.715 – The Ravens’ home winning percentage (93-37) under head coach John Harbaugh, ranking as the NFL’s third-best mark since his 2008 arrival.
completed 26-of-41 passes for 273 yards and 1 TD (a 49-yarder to Likely), also rushing for a game-high 122 yards on 16 carries. Likely recorded game bests in catches (9) and receiving yards (111), while Baltimore racked up 185 yards rushing as part of 452 total yards, compared to Kansas City’s 353.

ON THE RAVENS’ FOCUS MOVING FROM WEEK 1 TO WEEK 2:
“You have your floor and your ceiling. How high is the ceiling, and how high is the floor? How low is the ceiling, and how low is the floor? You want to always raise the floor. That’s what winning football does – it raises the floor as high as it can be. We’ve been that kind of team over the years; that’s why we’ve won so many games. Those are the things that we can do this week – we can raise that floor up quite high. I’m not too worried about our ceiling. I know we have tremendous players, and we’ll make plays, but I want to see that floor come up a little bit and play a little more that way between Week 1 and Week 2.”

CHASING DREAMS, NOT APPROVAL
“I think it’s only a matter of time before he wins the Super Bowl.”
After a season of terrorizing opposing defenses and dazzling the sports world in 2023, Lamar Jackson was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the second time in his career. Jackson became just the 11th player to win the coveted award multiple times, putting him in a realm with some of the greatest players to ever step foot on the gridiron. Joining the ranks of the game’s all-time greats, Jackson knows that with extraordinary success comes even greater expectations. While the outside noise can seem deafening at times, Jackson remains laser focused on capturing the ultimate prize – the Lombardi Trophy.
“That’s pretty much what drives me, wanting to be a World Champion in the National Football League,” Jackson stated. “That’s where my drive comes from.”
Last year was Jackson’s first working alongside offensive coordinator Todd Monken, under whom the twotime MVP posted career highs in multiple categories, including passing yards (3,678), completions (307) and completion percentage (67.2). Throughout the 2024 offseason, Jackson has repeatedly expressed how much more comfortable he feels in Monken’s system, giving him the flexibility to change plays and route concepts at the line of scrimmage. With a deeper understanding of the offense and a full arsenal of playmaking weapons – including standout free agent acquisition Derrick Henry – Jackson is primed to push harder than ever to help Baltimore accomplish its championship goals.
“What I’ve noticed about Lamar really is more of an intangible thing: his urgency as a leader and his urgency with other players,” executive vice president and general manager Eric DeCosta raved. “He’s just really in tune with the other players every single day in practice. This guy is so hyper-focused on this season and really working to get a ring.”
By Max Berenson
Over the years, Jackson has sometimes faced unwarranted criticism over his style of play. Yet, throughout his short time in the league, Jackson has obviously proven many doubters wrong time and again. Unfazed by the noise, he continues to rise above it, evolving into the player that he and the organization always knew he could be.
“The vision that we have together is that Lamar Jackson is going to become and be known and be recognized as the greatest quarterback ever to play in the history of the National Football League, that’s the vision,” head coach John Harbaugh stated during training camp. “It’s going to happen by Lamar, his work ethic and his brilliant talent and by all of us pouring into that effort together as a team. And I believe it like we’ve already seen it.”
While most people admire the spectacular feats Jackson pulls off all over the field, few truly understand the immense preparation it takes to become one of the NFL’s elite. Backup quarterback Josh Johnson, however, sees this dedication firsthand every day. He knows the relentless work Jackson puts in and has complete faith in his teammate’s ability to lead Baltimore to the promised land.
“I think it’s only a matter of time before he wins the Super Bowl,” Johnson declared. “He has the talent, but he’s also a heck of a quarterback with how he sees the game and how he goes about his preparation and how much of a leader he is.”
While the individual accolades will someday be something he cherishes, that’s not what fuels Jackson. He isn’t motivated by the opinions – whether positive or critical – of pundits. Instead, his focus has always been on a much larger goal – a promise he made to Charm City on that unforgettable draft night in 2018.
“They’re going to get a Super Bowl out of me. Believe that.”
“That’s pretty much what drives me, wanting to be a World Champion in the National Football League.”
— Lamar Jackson
