Lower Barracks
The site is located at Chinatown milieu along Eu Tong Seng Street. Students are to design an Arts Hub demonstrating the architectural exploration, spaces and experiences instilled in the life of a community. Specifically, within the community of the Chinatown locality. Students are to design the Arts Hub that can engage the public’s imagination with a place for partaking, discovering, learning, and creating the Arts. The architectural design must take into consideration how the building’s programmes involves with the local community and the building’s forms and spaces whilst preserving the historical building presently on the site.

DESIGN CONCEPT The concept of the Flux is the unbroken and continuous movements in Tai Chi. This is expressed through a continuous element which wraps and folds around and within the building form, acting as floors, walls, and ceilings in a cycle, reflecting the continuous nature of Tai Chi movements. This continuous element is further accentuated by using an opposing color scheme and textures. This play of opposites in harmony further ties into Tai Chi, relating to its Yin and Yang Philosophy.

A frontage is derived from the direction of the views and ingress into the site
Perpendicular lines are drawn from the frontage to achieve a more cohesive design language and also maximises site usage.
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
visual connectivity
dynamic circulation
double volume spaces and green pockets punctuates the form
the parallelogram, a dynamic shape, is the main motif and design language and is derived from the site response to the site
SUSTAINABLE FEATURES
voids allow warm air to escape and regulates air flow

POP-UP PASAR FOR THE ARTS A NOMADIC URBAN PAVILION Design Studio 3 Primer Semester 06 December 2015
POP - UP PASAR FOR THE ARTS Design Studio 3 Primer
BRIEF Pop- up Pasar for the Arts acts as a portal to reach out to the community and market or promote the Arts at public spaces. The Pop-Up Pasar Pavilion acts as an important opportunity to offer its community a new place of exploration and social enjoyment for the Arts. This nomadic urban pavilion aims to nurture a collaborative culture between Arts and Audience, Community and Events, Experience and Space. The transient space bridges the temporary events/retails to the permanent Arts Hub by providing a connection between Arts, familiar activities, perception, materiality and space that create active physical and social intervention. DESIGN CONCEPT
Tilted profile to express the dynamism and energy of creating new things
Modularity

CONCEPT GENERATION 2 A CONCEPTUAL FORM STUDY Design Studio 1 Semester 04 July 2014
CONCEPT GENERATION 2 Design Studio 1 BRIEF
Students are to choose a stimuli from 3: Music (Mozart Symphony No.40), Poetry (Poetry on India’s independence), Film (a fight scene from Hero). Chosen Stimuli: Mozart’s Symphony No.40
DESIGN CONCEPT
Mozart’s Symphony No.40 exudes majesty, elegance, grandeur,, and dynamism all of which, I aim to capture in my design. Dynamism is expressed through the form with its many faces and polygons of differing sizes, shapes, and angles. Grandeur and majesty is captured by the sheer scale of this building, and the monolithic nature of the form, emanating power and dominance. The elegance of is expressed by the massive cantilevered sections, expressing a similar effect to that of one approaching a large overhanging cliff face, gravity defying, and awesome. The fragmented geometry held by a seemingly fragile and clear middle section reflects the notion that music is a common language to all that binds people together despite the differences that they might have.
CONCEPT GENERATION 1 A CONCEPTUAL FORM STUDY Design Studio 1 Semester 04 July 2014
CONCEPT GENERATION 1 Design Studio 1 BRIEF
Create an enclosure of any kind using the stimuli given and stated conditions. A model of any scale is also required. Given Stimuli: 3cm wide strips of cardboard Conditions: Students are to create their models from strips of wood no more or less than 3cm wide.
DESIGN CONCEPT
A visitor center for a forested nature reserve located in the upper hemisphere. The geometry of the form are my interpretation of the mountains found in that region whilst the strips are a reference to the forest where this enclosure is to be located at. The shadows cast by the strips are akin to that of how trees in a forest would. The spaces in between the strips are to be enclosed by double glazed glass. The proposed programmes for the visitor center are an information counter, a first aid station, a gift shop, a small cafe, and a gallery.
VIVIENDA
A MODERN FAMILY HOME Revit Module Final Model Semester 03 June 2014
VIVIENDA
Revit Module Final Model Semester 02 BRIEF
Recreate and modify a home for 4-5 people using floorplans sourced online on Revit.
DESIGN CONCEPT
The Vivienda is to be a modern home fit for a matured and fast-paced family. To achieve that, a modern contemporary design language is adopted for both the exterior and interior. The exterior boasts a white coat of paint and coupled with the modern design and straight edges and 90 degree corners, it makes for a crisp and clean look. The form of the Vivienda features cantilevered floors and sections, propped up by slim steel structural columns and load bearing walls at key areas, seemingly as though the form is levitated, exuding elegance and grace, somewhat akin Mies’ to Barcelona Pavilion. The minimalist nature of the exterior form and internal spaces, makes for a clean and uncluttered look, suitable for a fast-paced family who already has too much to think or look at.
And many more to come.
Thank you.
