maestro fRew, Mr “Electronic fRew, likes to put beats in his pipe and smoke them ” Loafers on, recliner reclined, he considers then exhales each note with a knowing grin and a masterpiece on his mind. fRew’s passion and ability to create club-radio cross over gems has seen the Sydney based DJ/producer catapulted to international acclaim, turning the heads of international heavy weights Deadmau5, Morgan Page, Axwell, Drop The Lime, Wolfgang Gartner, Tom Novy and Fedde Le Grand. In late 2010 fRew received a 5/5 rating from US based super pop producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins (behind hits from Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Destiny’s Child and more), when he submitted a track (dance/pop crossover banger ‘Wicked Woman’) for consideration in a global producer/songwriter competition. In a career highlight, fRew spent time at Darkchild studios with the man himself on a recent US trip.
years in – fRew’s just “Four warming up ” fRew spent time honing his craft at home and abroad before the release of his epic first single in 2007, ‘Shake With It’, snapped up by Bass Kleph’s Vacation Records. The track forged a label relationship and friendship that still stands, seeing fRew head up many Vacation Records track remixes (including former 1200 Techniques frontman N’fa’s ‘Get Doh’ which reached number five on the Beatport Electro House Chart, and scored radio airplay), compilation mixes and headline tours, making Vacation the label of choice for some of fRew’s own originals. His 2009 collaboration with Chris Arnott and songstress Rosie Henshaw for the track ‘My Heart Stops’ earned praise from Morgan Page (“This is hot!”) and Tom Novy (“I really love this! My full support”). The track reached #12 on the ARIA Club Charts, gained air play on stations across Australia and New Zealand and saw the creation of a video clip featuring all three collaborators and some very nasty nurses. ‘Never Come Back’, fRew’s epic and haunting 2010 collaboration featuring vocals from lead singer Dave Hosking, of in-demand Sydney set ‘Boy and Bear’ reached the top 30 on the ARIA club charts. Proving his versatility, fRew then spat out ‘Murder of the Crow’, a filthy, bass driven sonic work out that impressed US based Taurus & Vaggeli (“fRew back again with a stomper from Down Undahhh… you get ‘em boy ”) and Dopamine (“Watch out Wolfgang, fRew gonna tear you a new one! BAM!”). The track reached an impressive #19 on the Beatport electro house charts.
fRew’s first single out on Sony’s One Love, ‘This New Style’ featuring Chris Arnott and Rosie Henshaw was released in February 2011 and reached #7 on the ARIA Club Charts, staying in the Top 50 for an impressive 13 weeks. The track earned a 5/5 rating from Tom Novy (“Monster!!”), 4/5 from Axwell and support from NYC based producer Drop The Lime (“feeling the big room vibes on this on the OG. definitely behind this release!”) Late 2011 saw the creation of fRew’s very own music imprint ”fRewition Records”. It’s debut release “Under The Sun” featured Canadian Top 40 singer DiRTY RADiO. Peaking at #16 on the Australian club chart, “Under The Sun” received repeated rotation on multiple national radio shows which again proves fRew has the ability to consistently deliver hit records. His 2011 remix of Bashy vs. Napt ‘Make My Day’ for Sony’s Music Australia reached #4 on the ARIA Club Charts.
