FOREWORD

here have been many grand and seemingly impossible projects throughout human history, from the building of the Pyramids of Egypt to the assembly of the International Space Station. Although my addition to the list won’t change the course of human history, I’d still like to submit the development of J-STARS Victory VS+ to that illustrious list of human achievements, and here’s why…

Created as a celebratory project for the 45th anniversary of Shonen JUMP magazine and the 20th anniversary of V JUMP magazine, there has never been a more ambitious videogame crossover project that has tapped and racked the creative minds of a game developer in the way that J-STARS Victory VS+ has done to the Tokyo, Japan based SPIKE Chunsoft team.

J-STARS Victory VS+ attempts to do the unthinkable; combine characters from an unprecedented variety of different anime and manga franchises in one cohesive gaming experience. This blending of characters that were never meant to cross paths poses many unique and yet fun challenges to overcome. How do you balance the power of Goku’s Kamehameha Wave vs. Luffy’s Gear Second abilities? How do you create fighting moves for anime and manga characters that have never fought in their original stories? What environments would make sense for all of these characters to fight in? These unique and challenging obstacles required the team to become really imaginative, but they also had a great time overcoming these creative challenges and that fun and creativity will become clear once you pick up the controller to play J-STARS Victory VS+. In the end, the team at SPIKE Chunsoft has managed to create a game that features an incredible list of characters from some of the most globally famous anime and manga such as Dragon Ball®Z, One Piece, Bleach, Fist of the North Star and Saint Seiya, while also including newer characters such as Assassination Classroom’ s Koro-sensei and Haikyu!!’ s Shoyo Hinata. They’ve done what others had thought to be impossible… they’ve combined worlds that were never meant to intersect and matched characters that were never meant to meet. See you all soon on the field of battle!

odzilla—the King of the Monsters—first appeared in 1954. Scientists studied Godzilla and found they could harness energy from the monster. Called “G-Energy”, this seemingly endless source of power was used to better the lives of all mankind. Sixty years later, just when mankind’s memory of the beast faded, Godzilla appeared again. Godzilla destroyed at will, all in search of more G-Energy. Such irony: The same G-Energy, which was used to better the people’s lives, also caused Godzilla to awaken. Can the G-Force, mankind’s last hope, stop Godzilla? What fate awaits Godzilla once he has consumed all of the G-Energy, and grown to his full potential? Be prepared for mass destruction! Bash your way through huge stages, taking out Energy Generators, as well as battling with massive kaiju. Be sure to smash as many buildings, structures, and G-Force tanks and airborne units as possible to maximize your G-Energy. But beware: The more buildings and structures you take out, the higher the Hazard Level will go, bringing out still more G-Force military units, as well as legendary monsters to battle. Switch up the camera view to special Movie-Style camera angles! You can view the action from the ground or from high up in buildings and structures in the city. These camera shots are set up to remind players of the Godzilla movies! Control Godzilla, and all the other kaiju in the game (PS4 only) to smash and destroy just like the movies. The whole time, you’ll collect data on your kaiju that allows you to power up, and get special figurines in the game.

Become Godzilla, or a multitude of other huge kaiju (PS4 only) to bash and destroy your way through multiple stages of mayhem! Collect G-Energy in each stage to Power-Up and grow to the size of a skyscraper! Your kaiju’s defensive and offensive prowess increases in line with their size. Kaiju will also learn new skills, and you can also power up their attacks! In God of Destruction Mode, crush your way through stages of mayhem to reveal a new chapter in the Godzilla lore! The Diorama Mode allows you to create, enjoy, and share online with others (uses SHARE feature on PS4) your own personalized Godzilla movie scene of your dreams. A time trial of chaos is offered in the King of Kaiju Mode—defeat enemy kaiju as fast as you can! In Evolution Mode, you can make your kaiju super powerful!

CONTROL GODZILLA JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES! Godzilla promises extra challenging monster-action! Fight the beast’s mortal enemies—Hedora, Biollante, Mechagodzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, and the huge number of gigantic kaiju that smash their way on to your screen!
