BEC Launches New Foundation To Support Communications
By Lindsey Bertrand BEC Staff Writer
DURING ITS 80TH ANNUAL MEETING, BEC MARKED THE launch of the BEC Foundation. As the philanthropic arm of BEC, the BEC Foundation was established to advance the organization’s legacy of care through volunteerism and charitable contributions.
At the annual meeting, BEC Foundation representatives presented donations to three charitable organizations in the BEC service territory.
The Frontier Times Museum in Bandera received a $5,000 donation to assist with their planned expansion, and the Comfort Golden Age Center received $5,000 to support operating expenses. Boerne resident Hunter Beaton received $2,500 for his organization, Day 1 Bags, which provides duffel bags and backpacks to foster children.

“While the name is new, our commitment to supporting our communities is not,” said BEC Foundation chairman Bruce Forey. “The BEC Foundation reflects Concern for Community, one of the cooperative principles, by returning every dollar raised back into the communities we serve.”
Nonprofit organizations can review eligibility requirements and apply for a BEC Foundation grant by visiting BanderaElectric.com/Foundation.
As a nonprofit organization, all donations to the BEC Foundation are tax-deductible. Individuals can support the BEC Foundation by rounding up their BEC monthly statement to the next dollar amount, by making a tax-deductible gift of any amount, and by shopping through the Amazon Smile program and designating the BEC Foundation as your charity of choice. More information on how to make a donation can be found at BanderaElectric.com/WaysToGive.
Since 2008, Bandera Electric Cooperative has donated more than a quarter-million dollars to qualified organizations.
