The Bangor region is calling you home!
Bangor, Maine is not my first home but it is most definitely my last! I made the choice to move to the region decades ago and it was the best decision I could have made.
water and said that is how we do things here. People go out of their way to be nice. He asked if I knew of any good realtors followed by, “We want to live here!”

In part because the Bangor region offers something for everyone. I love that my 80 year old mother-in-law enjoys nights out with her friends for dinner and a show at the Penobscot Theater, the Bangor Symphony or the Collins Center for the Arts. My husband grew up in Bangor and graduated from the University of Maine. He left to continue his education and returned home where he enjoys UMaine sporting events, exploring our many outdoor trails and date nights at a waterfront concert or a favorite downtown restaurant. Having family out of state, I love that I can easily and affordably catch a flight out of Bangor International Airport and be on my brother's doorstep in New Jersey in less time than it takes me to get ready in the morning! Oh and did I mention our craft beer?!
Time and time again I receive phone calls or emails from someone interested in relocating to the Bangor region for a job, because they love the area or they recognize this is a great place to establish their business. We are delighted to help. The Bangor region is like that. People want to help. We want you here and if you are only here for a short time, we want you to come back.
One afternoon in the Chamber office a couple walked in. The man looked white as a ghost. I asked him if he was ok? He said, ”The craziest thing just happened. Cars stopped to let us cross the street. That never happens where we’re from!” He was in slight shock. I sat him down, got him some
People here are genuinely nice. I know that may not sound like the fanciest “pitch” for a region, but honestly it’s what makes our region so special. People help each other out. There are numerous neighborhood social media pages with neighbors offering to help neighbors, there are policy makers and officials who listen to and care about the needs of their citizens. There are random people on the street who will gladly help a visitor find a place to eat for lunch. Citizens support good causes and fundraisers. Small businesses have loyal customers who return time and time again. New families are welcomed here with open arms and most likely a meal or two dropped off on their doorstep.
We want you to know you are welcome here and we hope you will visit the 21 communities featured in this guide and support our member businesses that represent a wide range of products and services. They, too, are here to help you with anything you need, including crossing the street.
