MediaInfo Innovative filter system “Made in Austria” for the Banner plant Banner has further upgraded its production plant in Linz-Leonding with an innovative and highly efficient filter installation. The new system, costing €400,000, has been specially designed for the starter battery manufacturer and is the only one of its type in Austria. Responsible for the project was the Austrian company Kappa Filter Systems GmbH.
Linz-Leonding, August 11th 2015. Banner regards the highest safety standards and the very latest production process technology as extremely important. Accordingly, the family-owned company has used the summer break at its plant to optimise the filter system in its preproduction area. Together with Kappa Filter Systems GmbH from Steyr, Upper Austria, an innovative installation was jointly planned and designed in the course of a process lasting several months, and then subsequently completed. The new system employs an extremely effective filter material and represents a first both in Austria and worldwide. Franz Dorninger, Banner’s Technical Director: “The unique filter technology will reduce production emissions by a further two-thirds, even though these are already minimal and lie far below the stipulated limits. This exhaust air cleaning concept is unique in our industry and thanks to the two-stage filter we can guarantee the lowest possible emission values.” Banner established a budget of € 400,000 for the system and opted consciously for a costintensive filter variation because it represented the most modern and effective solution. Franz Dorninger describes the project work with the specialists from Kappa Filter Systems GmbH as ideal: “The choice of an Austrian contractor proved to be an excellent solution and we are also pleased that the value added remained in the country.” Harald Baumgartner, the Kappa Filter Systems GmbH Project Manager: “The filter system installed at the Banner plant sets new standards in the field of exhaust air filtration technology and thus comes very, very close to our credo that “The future has zero Contact: Günther Lemmerer, Marketing and PR Banner GmbH Banner Strasse 1;4021 Linz-Leonding (A)ce Tel. +43/(0)732/38 88 – 21550; Fax Ext. 61550 Mobile +43/(0)676/873 81 550 E-mail: guenther.lemmerer@bannerbatterien.com www.bannerbatterien.com

In this regard, permanent monitoring of the quality of the filtered air and a policing filter stage ensure the highest plant safety and a level of purity that far exceeds the state of the art.” The highest environmental and safety standards. Franz Dorninger, Banner’s Technical Director, is at pains to stress that: “A company bears a major responsibility to both people and the nature. We have been manufacturing batteries in Linz-Leonding for almost sixty years subject to strict environmental and safety standards that voluntarily go far beyond the statutory requirements. This approach derives from a selfperception of the company, which also applies to the ongoing further development of our filter plants:” €35 million investments in Linz-Leonding since 2011. During the past four years, Banner has invested a total of €35 million in its Linz-Leonding production plant, which in the last fiscal year achieved sales revenues of €239 million. The number of starter batteries sold rose to 3.8 million and thereby increased by 100,000 over the preceding year.
