3
Design Team | (Graphic + Exhibiton) team brainstorms about the design concept for a project of large scale. Incase of small scale projects the Exhibition Design team does the research and concept development individually before starting with the space.
4
Exhibition Design | Black Pepper prefers to give atleast three design options to the clients. After a month of training for 3DS Max and Corel Draw , I was an active part of offering one option for the brief. The deliverables expected from each option were a set of renders of the design and a basic plan and elevation. Each option is 3D modelled and rendered by the designers themselves.
Feedback | The design options are showed to the Lead Designer and the Project Managers for their feedback , designers discuss their designs with them and work on the design changes if required. Business Developer | They present the design options to the client and get their feedback. The feedback is shared with the respective designers and if the client is interested in any particular design , the 3D file is shared with the Technical Department of Black Pepper to produce execution drawings of the design.
7
Project Manager | The drawings are sent for costing. Quote is given to the client for approval.

BRAND IDENTITY Ipca is continuously evolving. Their stature as a quality driven pharmaceutical company that partners healthcare globally, continues to grow with each passing day. Their brand identity has evolved too. Modern, dynamic yet warm and friendly , energetic yet sensitive, their identity is an expression of the Ipca today that partners with global pharmaceutical leaders.
The butterfly represents life at its energetic best. At its heart is a molecular structure endorsing Ipca's pharmaceutical bent of purpose. The butterfly in flight , matching the soaring aspirations of the company. The colour in the idenity is associated with healing, trust, understanding, wisdom and confidence - traits that are second nature to a pharmaceutical company. As their work mirrors life , the tagline ' A dose of life ' expresses what Ipca lives by. Of touching all aspects of human life and helping it bounce back to health; much like the butterfly's nature of flitting from flower to flower.

RE DEFINED BRIEF To design an exhibition lounge that is never done before for Ipca Laboratories, the design should be associated with nature and the brand attributes. Exploring the design around organic forms and natural materials should suit the client's need as well as go with the brand identity. A lounge setting that is less likely to remind the visitiors of pharmacy or any medical related elements would be a good option to experiment with. The design needs to incorporate the brand image along with the brand personality into something that is different, warm and inviting. The stand should primarily be treated like a meeting place more than an exhibition place accomodating 60-80 visitors.

Layout Plan
FEEDBACK FEEDBACK The design is dynamic, ecofriendly and would definitely attract the visitors to stop by and have a look at the optical effect on the wall. IPCA - 'a dose of life' syncs with the negative spaces of the pipes that create motion like effect adding volume to the space. The design brings out life using repetitive static form.
Pantry
The effect on the wall is observed only when the visitors are moving at a distance. They would like to enhance the experience of the people who are sitting at the meeting tables. After observing the effect, it becomes monotonous to hang around for a very long time.

OPTION 3 | Approved Out Of The Box Warm / Attractive Nature
The stand is designed without using the brand colours. Keeping in mind the meeting space it has warm and cosy feel to it. Ambient lighting is used to create a relaxed evening mooda break away from the regular clinical approach which will anyway be around the entire pharmacy event. 53

DESIGN CHANGES They would like to extend the circular log treatment throughout the back wall. Layout Plan
They want the IPCA logo to be more prominent and the highlight of the design.

FEEDBACK FEEDBACK The design is warm and inviting and definitely in sync with the nature. It is different approach from the usual blue and white design options. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Ipca is a fully-integrated Indian Pharmaceutical Company, manufacturing formulations and API's for various therapeutic segments. At the CPhI Worldwide, Paris we crafted a 14.5m x 10m stall for Ipca. The objective and theme was set sharp, focused and clear - to showcase, 'Ipca is close to nature'.
As per the theme- 'Ipca is close to nature', we put up circular wooden logs - a mix of Oak, Birch & Mahogany, which were carefully coated with clear lacquer. The logs were in different sizes, which varied from 20cm to 35cm and depths varied in 20cm, 40cm, 60cm and 80cm. More than 1600 pieces were arranged in an asymmetrical manner ensuring minimal void space, beautifying the back wall. Accompanying this was a 7.5m Ipca logo put up carved from wood protruding outwards, adjacent to which a wide video wall was placed having the corporate presentation run.
The colour dominating the stall was mainly brown with plush white seating and deluxe brown wooden flooring. Soft lighting was used in the stand carefully highlighting every feature. The reception was also made to look appealing and at once gained the passerby's attention. The bar was exclusively designed with an enticing graphical design that synced well with the theme along with a bar menu which was also very artfully designed. Further to complement this, personalised coasters were well connected with the wooden theme enhanced with graphics from the 'Ipca garden of life'.

FEEDBACK The theme 'close to nature' perfectly reflects in the space. The clients were pleased with the change in the look of their exhibition space. The lounge setting is perfect for a conversation and building relations. The lighting affects the mood of the space positively. Logo remained the dominating element within the space with an elegant glow around the periphery. The space was inviting and comfortable for people to make conversations ; that being the main purpose.

" Surging ahead together with you " Mr Dhirajlal Ambani epitomized the spirit of dare to dream and learn to excel. “Our dreams have to be bigger. Our ambitions higher. Our commitment deeper. And our efforts greater. This is my dream for Reliance and for India.“ -Dhirajlal Ambani.

CONCEPT SKETCHES Reliance Lounge|With the concept of 'Surging ahead together with you' , the meeting tables in the lounge was suggested to be placed at varied levels , leading towards the focal point - The arrow of infinite growth.
Reliance Lounge|The wow element in the exhibition stand was missing. To bring out Reliance industries leadership and growth in the Petrochemicals sector , the lounge is created with steps leading to the awards podium which extends out as an arrow shooting towards the sky. The seating area is on the steps , bringing out the concept of 'Surging ahead together with you' .
The wall graphics show a man who dreams of flying, the background shows reliance industries that gives wings to your dreams.

Retail and Exhibition Design | Bansari Borda | 112
Graphics|The graphics used on the walls of the lounge area in the designed pitched need improvements. Reliance is India's largest private sector company with great number of achievements. The sketchy graphics do not reflect the corporate dominance of the company.
The graphic on the lounge wall shows all the range of products that Reliance petrochemical industry contributes to in India. The graphic treatment is sketchy and doesn't suit a corporate company like Reliance. The first highlighted alphabet along with the graphics appears like the children's alphabet book. Officials and industrialists discussing business in the lounge should have a better view that goes with theme - Surging ahead together with you.
Option 1 This graphic is based on having an idea and making it bigger. Dare to dream , learn to excel ; What is good for India is good for Reliance is one of the motto's of Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani. The man represents the people of India and the background shows the Reliance industries. He has a dream to fly , Reliance will wings to his dreams and together they will surge ahead towards growth.
Option 2 The concept remains the same as option 1 , it is subtle and less informative .The lounge has three steps with meeting tables placed on each of them. The steps lead to the awards podium and the growth arrow. The graphics acts as a background of Reliance industries that takes various sectors and people towards growth. 113 | Bansari Borda | Retail and Exhibition Design

In a weeks time of joining Black Pepper I felt like a part of their team as I was included in all the meetings, brainstorming and feedback sessions. I am grateful for their inclusive approach. Initially I was intimidated by the pace at which everyone was working around me. We were taught to think on paper in college, for the first time I saw someone thinking on 3DS Max. I realised the importance of sketching as that was the most quickest way of translating design concepts before I got better at delivering the design renders. From taking two weeks to complete a design option I could meet the deadline in 3 days by the end of my internship. Understanding the client requirements and meeting their expectations in time was important in Exhibition Design as the projects were done in a quick span of time.

RETROSPECT
During my Internship as an exhibition design intern, I got to work on signage for the IPCA Laboratories, emailers for Ion Exchange, brand study and campaign of Arihant Water Equipment. Multi-disciplinary outlook of Wits Interactive towards all their creative projects permitted me to apply my skills in diverse scope of design.
The past 6 months I have worked on a range of projects in various sectors, and with each I feel I have been able to contribute in equal proportion to what I have learnt. Classroom Projects proved to be of immense help during my Internship. Concept Visualisation came through effortlessly and was well appreciated by my mentor Priyanka and the team. Nervousness was replaced by confidence when something that was once drawn on paper was standing tall in an actual space. It was a great learning experience to kickstart my professional journey in the design industry.
