Saving Lives Cardiac arrest First-aid innovation project
More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital each year, about 90% of people who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest die. Laerdal is committed to the supply of medical equipment and first aid training courses. Our mission is to give new recommendations based on existing training systems to improve the quality of training and the probability of witnesses implementing first aid.

Finding design pain points • Start with experience CPR training
Experience design, what is the content of the course?
In order to find and understand the pain points during the learning process, we experienced two CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (cardiac defibrillator) training courses.
Finding design pain points • Start with experience CPR training
Through the summary of the training course, from the perspective of the bystander rescuer in the first aid, we visualize the standard first aid rescue process of the trained personnel, and based on this, discover the problems that may be hidden in the whole process.

Outcome testing • CPR innovation workshop
What’s the plan? After determining the entry point and comprehensive research information, we decided to fill the gaps in Laerdal's curriculum with the workshop curriculum, cultivate more potential users, enable younger people to get to know relevant knowledge earlier, and promote the knowledge and efficiency of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In conjunction with Elgin Academy, a workshop on CPR's innovative knowledge dissemination was held to test the effectiveness of the program.

Little Yawn A more natural sleep trainer for Toddlers
How to help children to form good sleeping habits before school is a universal problem for parents. Mothers with young children are more likely to go back to or begin full-time work now than 20 years ago.
What’s the current situation? We all know that good sleep habits are important for children. But parents' busy work schedules, after-school activities, and homework can all cut into family time on school nights and can have a big impact on how much a child sleeps. This product “Little Yawn” focus on the new parents who already back to their work, aiming to compare and remind their children to fall asleep at the right time, and form good sleeping habits gradually. It especially working with yawning effect principles, to realize a different, more natural way of sleep trainer.

Clock forms can psychologically affect sleep mood
During the past years, over 2000 kinds of sleeping trainer products been produced differently. There are two main kinds of products, one works as a light change clock, the other produced with lovely doll appearance. Some of the properties like light changes on the screen will make children more excited and harder to fall asleep. Some of them convince parents well with soft materials.
Working principle It has proved that yawning can relax humans’ brain, get yawning before bed can do much help about calming down and remind them got prepared for sleep. And this idea exactly got inspired by “Yawning Contagion Effect, an interesting phenomenon among our life, which means when people see others yawning, they will follow the yawn. These kinds of suggestion and autosuggestion play an important role when persuading toddlers to go to bed.
Working principle Using this theory, Little Yawn is especially working like a cute pet keep “yawning through play sounds and actions to trigger and remind the children of bedtime in a natural way.

Functions
Even sometimes sleep early, but awake at night. Need to know how to modify home environment. Hope to know their children’s sleep situation. Don’t want to persude children to sleep all the time. Too much light will attract children and much harder to fall asleep Parents have to tell the familiar stories so that the children won’t be too excited before sleep. Also want have more time for themself instead of tell the same story

Sweet dreams at night, realised dreams in life
The Business Model Canvas The main customer groups are the parents who want to help their children adjust their biological clock to avoid media addiction and late night sleep, who are busy and not have so much time telling stories for their children at bedtime. And our second customer includes children’s smart toys’ market, Smart home products market and Children’s Health management institution. The price of each set of electronic components purchased from China is about 8 £, the material cost is about 6 £, the one-time die sinking cost is 1000-2000 £, the one-time software development cost is 1000 £, and the one-time appearance design cost is 1000 £. Another 1000 £ for Advertisement, 500 £ for Institution maintenance and 1000 £ for Patent protection. The Break Even Point: BEP= Cf/(p−cu−tu) =5000/ (35-6-8)≈240 (pic) According to the Break Even Point, for the first year, it needs 8400 £ as start- up Founding selling at least 240 products and starts gain profits in the second year by selling more than 300.
Revenue streams
The revenue streams come from the sales of Little Yawn. For the advertisement and Institution maintenance potential profits, the “Little Yawn” online website membership fee, (free for just sign in, pay for having the suggestion and advice from children’s sleep institution) and income from souvenirs and cartoon animations are also been added. In the future, advertisement and promotion will be evaluated, and we will get in touch with smart toy retailers to broaden revenue streams in the next stage.

Fruit Pie 3D puzzle game design
We often see parents teaching their children to different types of fruit while shopping at the fruit shop. A similar fruit puzzle building block is also popular in the market to exercise children's thinking ability in the identification and matching of fruit graphic. Furit Pie's game design is dedicated to extending two-dimensional graphic graphics to three-dimensional coordinates to foster children's perception of stereoscopic space and awareness of multi-angle thinking

Hard
Processing is used to show the shapes of fruits in certain angle randomly.
The code of Processing limites the time of every round by changing the board randomly every 5 sec.
Specific technology
Makey Makey is used to pair the real fruit in hand with virtual 3D models stored and sho the models on screen through Processing
The player’s score would get sum up and show when the time is out. The processes would loop.
Adapt the angles of fruit in your hand
Complete it in 5 sec , add grades Defult or over 5 sec, add nothing
Normal Observe the angles of the fruit board Time out, receive a result.
Choose the right kind of fruit
Easy
Detect the shapes of different fruits’ board

After a generation of prototype tests, I fixed the board to the wooden shovel, giving the child the role of the West Point Master and preventing the sharp pins from causing damage to the tester.
“We played similar games at school, but just some stickers, this is more fun!” - Mao Mao, 5 years old, from a kindergarten in Shanghai
