the Bayview District of San Francisco. The first-floor double-height maintenance bay and those offices above are interlocked by the bridge corridor at the second-floor entrance. Conceptually, the building is massed as a simple metal box floating above a horizontal concrete plinth. We felt strongly that the architectural expression should be one of a civic building upheld proudly by its industrial surroundings. I worked on Revit and drawing updates for this project, as well as interior layout updates. Bruk

small safety support campus. We have to design this firehouse to meet some specific safety requirements(air-side). Unlike normal offices, a firehouse needs to be a live-working environment for firefighters. As a member of Marjang Architecture’s team, I participated and responded to schematic design, design development, Revit modeling, and renderings. Also, working with Karen, I produced a lot of visual simulations for interior design.

We used the Oakland map as the background of this project. Maps are the first guide for visitors. We were trying to emphasize belonging, identity, and culture to the local Oakland. The red dot is the proximate location of the MOXY hotel in Oakland. I worked on design development for this project, see the iteration 1-6 below. Before these iterations, I was working on the physical models for this project. I made a 1/8” scale site model and a bunch of 1/4” scale and full-scale mock-up panels. We did a lot of tests to evaluate the most suitable width of the path pattern.

This project was a proposal for Urban Confluence Silicon Valley competition. Our team was a combination of Faulders Studio and White Arkitekter. The idea was by occupying the whole given site to create a superstructure to maximize the interaction between this object and visitors. Visitors are welcome to feel this environment rather than simply step in a “building“. We packed laminated timber as the main material to lower the carbon footprint, also our estimate of power produced by PV panels on the frame is 1.5 million kWh per year. That helps us achieve carbon neutrality faster. I participated in schematic design of this project. Studio和White TMRW

an art piece for RaDD development. This project could be also called “Shapeshift San Diego”. We used the same logic to design this object. It is hard to identify this project. I mean, is this an art piece or a facade? What if the piece is big enough to cover the whole building? What if we have some 3-dimensional movements in this design? What if we have twenty or more of this type of project all over the world? I did the design development and renderings for this project.

By splitting a project into two parts, architects could maximize the floor area ratio to save clients’ money, facade designers could re-form an atmosphere to fit whatever is desired. We designed these horizontal movements with some interrupt ripples to meet the existing design languages on the campus. We designed a 3-dimensional facade at the start. Because of the special claimant condition, we moved to flat panels with fins strategy. In this project, we designed it together.

Nazareth, Design Proposal Nazareth is a great developer in San Mateo. They own three adjacent blocks in this area, and all of their projects look like the “colonial style”. We were trying to present something new to them that is more comfortable for young people. We provided outdoor balconies for every unit. In the past one and half years, We got two public facilities, one multi-family housing, and twenty more housing renovations. Every client has different demands, adding another floor, inserting an ADU, or adding another bathroom. These jobs cannot just be classified as interior design. I learnt building code and planning code from these projects. I worked on these small projects so that Karen can focus on those large facilities.

Toward a Three-dimensional City High-rise buildings respond to the lack of available urban land. Filling the city, skyscrapers have become the inevitable choice for urban development. However, skyscrapers can also limit the production of shared public space. This highly concentrated urban living environment undermines the balance of urban life - an imbalance between population and communication space that will eventually destroy the city’s structure.
