2024 ISSUE TWO WINTER AT THE GRANGE

Despite the cooler weather, we continue to see progress at The Grange. We’re also looking forward to welcoming the new owners of five villas in early September, with another five villas due for completion over Christmas and New Year.

Nine villas nestled around the vineyard are well underway, and we’re winding up the civil works for 18 new ones. Stay tuned for sales information on these sites, which is expected around October.

Our wine club is celebrating the release of our 2024 Rose this month. You'll find an article within that explores what our members get up to in the vineyard. You can also purchase this vintage through our Village Community Centre.

GROWTH AT THE GRANGE

We have several projects active onsite to increase connection and space in our community and deliver the opportunity to welcome new residents to it.

NEW VILLAS AND DUPLEXES

Civil works for 18 new villas are nearly complete, so stay tuned – we estimate an October sales time. We’ve also recently announced to our resident committee the future construction of 32 duplex villas. Due to start from mid to late 2025, this project will deliver smaller, easy-care living apartments in the village. The duplexes will be low maintenance with limited outdoor areas.

ENTERTAINMENT AND EVENTS PAVILIONS

The construction of two new community centre pavilions will commence in August.

Pavilions will provide the opportunity for multiple events at the one time.

Adding to the existing community centre space, these pavilions will provide the opportunity for multiple events or activities at the one time. Local company Stephen Lawrence Constructions have been contracted for the build.

NEW VILLAGE HOMES

Progress update

Situated in amongst our existing village, five stand-alone villas will be ready for their new owners in early September, with another five due for completion over Christmas and New Year. Nine villas have been sold to the north of the village, nestled in the vineyard, and are well underway with slabs and frames near completion.

Three clever tips from a local removalist

Beyond providing packaging materials and muscles on moving day, a good removalist can often help relieve stress long before the day arrives.

We’ve had Grange residents rave about the extra services that local family business, O’Briens Removals and Storage, have delivered during their move. With over 30 years’ experience, they had the following advice…

1. Plan to ensure your furniture fits Ensure any large furniture items fit the new space. A common problem people run into is not realising that their doorways or corners are too small to fit their furniture through.

Our professional team can help map these details with you prior to your move.

2. Outsource removal of household items during downsizing Downsizing can be made easier by outsourcing the removal of goods and heirlooms to your family and friends. This saves you time and stress.

3. Enlist a removalist team that cares about the task at hand Choose a removalist that’s compassionate and understanding. Moving from a family home filled with years of treasured possessions

WELCOME TO THE WINE CLUB

A small group of residents were tasked to tend to the grape vines at The Grange back in 2012. A year later, they raised their glasses with their very own vintage of shiraz. Today, around 70 residents take part in the more enjoyable aspects of winemaking as part of The Grange Wine Club.

While wine production is not for the fainthearted – from the pruning and picking to the fermenting and bottling – the club has always been about coming together to have fun.

“Originally the club existed to maintain the vineyard and operate the production. It can be challenging, so we now outsource the wine fermentation and bottling to Charles Sturt University. This makes the process much easier for our members to enjoy,” said Ken Larkin, Acting Chairman/Treasurer, The Grange Wine Club.

There is still much to be done. Activities include pruning days followed by BBQ lunches and day trips to the Charles Sturt Winery for bottling. The club’s activities span across several interests and physical ability levels.

“It gives you the opportunity to come together. If you can imagine pruning alongside

20 other people out in the vineyard… the conversations are great,” said Ken.

Part of the process is educational. Members learn from honorary club member, Ralph Fonte, about the needs of the vines; water, good fertiliser, and the pruning technique to ensure the vines remain healthy. A former vineyard owner, Ralph grew grapes for the Casella family, who produce a portfolio of wines including Yellow Tail and Peter Lehmann.

The Grange Wine Club recently bottled 1,248 bottles of their 2024 Rosé set for release this month. “This will be the third vintage of Rosé, which our ladies prefer, and it’s quite good. We celebrate the vintage each year with a launch – an afternoon of wine and cheese, where the Grange residents can try and then order their wine. Drinking the wine you helped create is always the best part.”

The Grange wine can be ordered at our Village Community Centre and gift baskets are available at Christmas and by special request.
