Stem cell transplants can be an effective form of treatment for blood cancers and some genetic conditions . The procedure is used to replace diseased or damaged stem cells, often after chemotherapy or radiation, with healthy cells The new stem cells can form a new immune system to help attack cancer cells head -on .

Baptist Health is actively pursuing clinical trails through its Blood and Marrow Transplant Processing Lab to bring the most innovative options to our patients, and to date, more than forty -five patients with a range of different diagnoses have participated in clinical trials at the lab

The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program marked its 100 th patient in February 2022 . From program inception to the end of this fiscal year, the program has treated 120 transplanted patients . The first transplanted patient reached three-year survival last year.
