Hospitals: Baptist Hospital of Miami

WHAT’S NEW

Baptist Hospital now calls a “Code Hero” to honor those who make the decision to donate their organs at the end of their life. Known as the Honor Walk, families often refer to it as the “loneliest walk,” as our heroes travel a corridor from the intensive care unit (ICU) to the surgical suites where the organ donation process begins. With the family’s consent, when a “Code Hero” is called over the intercom, staff, patients and families have the opportunity to line up and escort the hero in this life-changing journey. It’s a silent, but powerful, way to pay tribute to the organ donor patients and their families and an opportunity to express gratitude, respect and compassion to the family. Families are invited to fly the organ donor flag at Baptist Hospital and receive special recognition as a reminder of their loved one’s selflessness.

FUNDRAISING AT GLANCE

Baptist Hospital is undergoing a sizeable renovation, touching on several different areas. Top priorities include the renovation of the surgical suites to accommodate new technology and increased complexity of surgical cases. Simultaneously, patient rooms, as well as common areas, such as the lobby and waiting rooms, are being renovated to be more functional and suitable for our patients and their families. Philanthropic funds are being collected to support this effort, highlighting Baptist Hospital’s commitment to maintaining a patient-centered approach to healthcare. Philanthropy helps our organization advance our mission and vision to deliver high-quality services to our community. Environment plays a significant role in one’s healing process and so, we have established a dedicated focus to improve our facilities to better each patient’s experience at Baptist Hospital.

DID YOU KNOW?

As part of the renovation currently underway at Baptist Hospitali, we have identified ways we can improve our patients’ experience. While we focus on the modernization of surgical suites and creating more functional waiting rooms, we are also establishing a roadmap to enhance patient satisfaction. An important area that Baptist Hospital identified as part of this roadmap is to color code the entire facility. The objective is to make it easier for visitors to navigate the hospital and help eliminate stress and save time. Each area of the hospital will be distinguished by a color, which makes for more seamless hospital visits. Colors have been selected and the project is underway as part of the renovation. Shifting our attention to create opportunities to increase patient satisfaction is vital to establish a healthy community that feels cared for when they walk through our doors.
