This is fortress tower, built around years 10191026, with a passage of up to 7.5 m. And a wall height of up to 9.5 m, which for years defended Kiev from enemy attacks! The princes borrowed the idea of building the Golden Gate from Byzantium. They were called gold because people had to pay with gold coins for entry. Although, this is only one of the versions. Some talk about a jewelry made of pure gold, others about the simple symbolism of the word. The gate was the main entrance to the capital. None of the invaders ever managed to get into the city through them. The Horde of Khan Batu partially destroyed them in 1240, but at the same time they got into the city from the side of the Pechersky Gate (in the area of modern Maidan). At the Golden Gate in 1648 the people of Kiev met hetman Bohdan Khmelnitsky, who returned with victory after the battle of Yellow Waters. Today this ancient architectural object is a symbol of the capital.

ROCK GARDEN.
The stone garden in Kiev is an amazing place, the idea of which came to us from distant Japan. Despite the fact that this place is significantly different from traditional Japanese gardens, it is still very interesting and unique for the capital. The idea of creation came only in 2011. Then near the North Bridge, a small park has, with an area of only 0.35 hectares grew. They created it in the form of a sail. That is very symbolic, because the square is located near the Dnieper river. The central element of the park is a large granite fountain, whose diameter reaches 11 meters. Inside there is an unusual sculpture - a large mushroom, from which streams of water flow down like it is raining outside. Three girls stand under the mushroom: two of them are touching the water as if they want to catch drops, and the third holds the dog in her arms, protecting her from the rain. The fountain itself is illuminated in the darkness, which adds some mystery to it. The stone garden in Kiev has a magical atmosphere and bright elements that you will not find anywhere else. This place is definitely worth to be visited at least once!

ALLEY OF MUSES.
Muses have been settled on the Obolonskaya embankment in Kiev! This is a project of young architects, graduates of the Kiev Children's Academy of Arts, and of its rector. So that the Alley of Muses was original, Thalia (the muse of comedy) and Melpomene (the muse of tragedy) were united into one - the muse of drama. Young sculptors created eight muses and their patron, the ancient Greek god Apollo. The statues are made of marble chips and white cement. It took half a year to make the composition. Near the sculptures there are shops where you can sit down and enjoy the view of the Dnieper, get inspiration from the muses or just relax. Obolonskaya embankment is one of the most beloved places for walks both by local residents and guests of the capital.

BRIDGE OF LOVERS.
The idea of creating a bridge at this place originated in the distant 1910, when the City Council of Kiev decided to lay another descent, so that one could get to the slopes of the Dnieper through greenhouses. Prior to this in one place on the Dnieper slopes the Dnieper was obscured by a huge and, as it seemed, impregnable mountain. The pedestrian bridge on the mountain was constructed according to the plan of the then graduate of the Polytechnic Institute Yevgeny Paton in 1912 (in Kiev the Dnieper banks are connected by another famous bridge, which is called Paton Bridge, its length is 1543 m.). From the first day the new bridge became, for Kiev, the best place for dates and declarations of love. During the years of the Civil and World War I the bridge was badly damaged - its wooden parts were scavenged by the people of Kiev for firewood and other needs. The bridge was partially renewed and restored in the postwar years, but the complete reconstruction took place in 1983, when the old metal frame was replaced and the bridge took on its current form.

rom July 6 to July 7, as soon as the sun sets behind the horizon, water in rivers and lakes gains healing and cleansing power. It is on this day that the summer solstice is observed, which in Slavic mythology and modern esoterics is considered the most powerful day in terms of energy. In almost all cities and villages of Ukraine admirers of this holiday, wearing embroidered shirts, weave wreaths of different herbs and flowers, burn bonfires and sing songs, channeling this incredible energy to everyone who wants to join the celebration. The power of fire is so strong and magical during this night, that a person, when jumping over a fire, is cleansed spiritually and physically, a kind of energy reload occurs. Even herbs are filled with healing power and, if collected before sunset, can shield you from evil and illnesses! But the main magic of this holiday that breathes with magic and witchcraft is the fern flower! It blooms only on this night with a fiery red color for a moment and to those who manage to find it many secrets will be revealed, their desires will be fulfilled, and luck will never leave them. On a dark Kupala night bonfires burn so bewitchingly beautifully and wreaths float on the water, foretelling fate, wreaths woven by Ukrainians ... So let the amazing Slavic traditions and cultural heritage that gave us the unusual holiday of Ivan Kupala continue to be remembered, so our descendants can carefully store and honor legends and traditions of this magical day ...! The Everglades National Park is located in the state of Florida in the USA and occupies the southern part of the subtropical Everglades marshy area. The territory of the park is 6.105 square kilometers. These places, covered with meadows and tropical swamps, are called "the grassy river". The park was created to preserve the abundance of life forms: animals who are at risk of extinction live here as well as rare species of birds. To protect the park from the development of Civilization, in 1934 it was given the status of a National Park. But people were still draining the swamps and using water drainage at a merciless pace. The development of agriculture and other human activities decisively advanced, and the pollution problem arose, caused by fertilizers and pesticidal waste - the soil and water were gradually poisoned. In this regard, in 1976 the territory of the park was declared
an international biosphere reserve by UNESCO, and in 1978 it also was declared “wildlife territory”. In 1979 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and in 1987 declared "swamped territory of international importance". In 1993 it was listed on the “World Heritage in Danger” list, but fortunately it was removed from it due to conditions becoming better. Freshwater produced for the large city of Miami near the park, drains the Everglades swamps. It is necessary to look for other sources of freshwater for the metropolis. You can’t build canals and dams that damage the habitat of animals and spoil the quality of the water itself. In my opinion, it is necessary to make a certain exclusion zone around the Everglades National Park that would span for a few dozens of kilometers, free from agricultural land and settlements.

The Belize Barrier Reef is a 280 km long coral reef chain off the coast of Belize in North America. Since 1996 it has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as one of the richest ecosystems in the world. This Reef is known for its habitat: 70 species of hard corals, 35 soft corals and more than 500 species of fish. Favorite place for tourists. But the ecosystem is in jeopardy. Hurricanes, global warming, rising temperatures lead to coral bleaching. Now 40-50% of them are damaged! An uncontrolled flow of tourists leads to the depletion of nature. To save the world, in particular the Reef, it is necessary to reduce the amount of waste. Reduce emissions. Come up with laws that can protect the Reef from the negative influence of man, because a man is alas, the greatest danger to nature and the incredible beauty that it creates!

ACTUALITY
The Dead Sea is one of the most unusual and unique reservoirs of our planet. First of all, because it is actually a lake into which the waters of the Jordan River flow, but despite the fact that the water in the sea does not flow anywhere, due to the high temperature, it evaporates quite quickly and the depth of the sea decreases. For 100 years,the coastline has gone down 40 meters. According to experts, the sea will completely dry out over the next 700-800 years. The Dead Sea is known for its mild climate, oxygen-rich atmosphere, mineralrich water, thermal springs and mineral mud. The industrial development of minerals and the use of tributaries led to a sharp drop in groundwater levels. The current situation entails an imminent environmental disaster. The construction of water channels to fill the Dead Sea with additional water and reduce the extraction of useful minerals would help save the Dead Sea from drying out. It is necessary to protect the unique and rare gifts of nature that our planet has presented to people!

The world around us is made up of miracles. The creator of the most unique miracles is nature. And people, unfortunately, direct their activities towards the destruction of these unique objects of nature. The threat of the disappearance of islands, forests, mountains is exacerbating today. Among 10 wonders of the world that may disappear before 2040 the Congo Basin is also listed. The UN warns that in 2 decades, two-thirds of Africa’s unique rainforest may disappear. And this is more than 10 thousand plants, 1000 species of birds and 400 species of mammals. How to stop this destructive process from destroying the sights of Africa and the world? It is necessary to prohibit deforestation; severely punish poaching; stop agricultural land use. Ting a very effective way is to invest state money in the development of tourism, just as Egypt did.

The Yangtze River is one of the planet’s greatest water bodies. Its length, in accordance to the official American geographical reference, is 6418 km! Today this amazing creation of nature suffers from industrial pollution and agricultural runoff. Irreparable damage has been done to wetlands and lakes that feed the river with their drains. The whole ecosystem of China suffers because of this! Some sections of the river today have the status of natural reserves and are protected by law. How to save the river? Cease the usage of plastic. Since plastic is not biodegradable, it accumulates in rivers, lakes, and seas. Implementing strict fines for the pollution of the river. Passing a law prohibiting enterprises from dumping hazardous substances into reservoirs, rivers and lakes, because this affects the quality of life of Chinese people! When mechanically cleaning the river, use nets, scissors and tongs to work, with which you can catch algae from the water or weed out plants that have become too large. Special mechanical filters also can be used to purify water in the river, they will remove debris and purify the water itself. I love Shevchenko! THE FIRST UKRAINIAN FESTIVAL "I LOVE SHEVCHENKO" TOOK PLACE IN JORDAN! ON 22ND OF MARCH, 2019, UKRAINIAN DIASPORA AS WELL AS GUESTS OF JORDAN AND DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATIVES VISITED THE FESTIVAL, WHICH WAS ATTENDED BY TALENTED UKRAINIAN CHILDREN FROM MIXED MARRIAGES, STUDENTS OF UCC "UKRAINIAN HOUSEHOLD IN JORDAN", "UA KIDS" GROUP, ACTIVISTS AND PROFESSIONALS, CHOREOGRAPHERS AND VOCALISTS. The event was opened by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Jordan Sergey Pasko with a solemn speech, who congratulated the Ukrainian community on the upcoming Jordanian Mother's Day, as well as thanked the students of UCC "Ukrainian Household in Jordan", singer Vlada Lagoda and activist Galina Grigorieva for promoting the growth of ukrainian culture in Jordan. The greetings were made by the initiator of the creation, the president of the UCC “Ukrainian Household in Jordan”, the author of the project "I love Shevchenko" Olga Zavidnyak, who spoke wishes of success to all participants and thanked all the organizers of the event. The participants of the festival vividly and creatively presented musical and poetic performances devoted to T. Shevchenko's work. Actor poetry and music, unsurpassed choreography did not leave the audience and guests indifferent. A special guest at the event was Natalia Sychenko, a volunteer who supports the “Lubenska Division”, purchases thermal vision equipment and body armor. The woman presented an ukrainian flag to the ukrainian community, signed by soldiers fighting in eastern Ukraine with Russian invaders. All participants of the festival "I love Shevchenko" received an honorary certificate. The holiday was organized by NGO "Ukrainian House in Jordan" with the assistance of the PU in Jordan and the MFA of Ukraine.
We express our sincere gratitude to our participants, talented children and teachers, organizers. The event was started by Ambassador of Ukraine to Jordan Serhiy Pasko with a solemn speech that told Ukrainian communities about the achievements of the famous “С.К.А.Й” (SKY) band. At the beginning of the concert, Olga Zavidnyak, President of the Ukrainian Household in Jordan, congratulated the ukrainian rock star and, along with singer Vlada Lagoda, the artists presented all the listeners with original and Ukrainian songs. The connoisseurs of Ukrainian music were very pleased with the concert. The event took place in a friendly atmosphere. 33 YEARS AGO, A TRAGEDY OCCURRED AT THE CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR POWER PLANT. ON APRIL 26, 1986, AT 1:23:47, AN EXPLOSION IN THE FOURTH POWER UNIT FOREVER CHANGED PEOPLE'S PERCEPTION OF A PEACEFUL ATOM. THE OFFICIAL CAUSE OF THE EXPLOSION IS A FAILED EXPERIMENT THAT NEARLY DESTROYED THE ENTIRE REACTOR. uch a sad story has a continuation. It has affected all countries, as nothing like this happened anywhere on Earth. We Are The World correspondents decided to go to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and tell young readers and their parents about what is happening there at the moment. I came here with CHERNOBYL TOUR to, dispel the myths in my own head and convey to the reader the thought first of all, of the pricelessness of life. We have arrived to ANOTHER WORLD. Having jumped on a comfortable bus in Kiev, after a couple of hours and armed with bright yellow dosimeters in order to document the radiation dose, we arrived at Checkpoint “Dityatki” the main checkpoint to the Chernobyl exclusion zone. We were warned about long pants, socks, closed shoes, sweatshirts, hats, and caps to avoid picking up beta particles. Everyone was issued tickets. They warned us to not touch anything with our hands. There are very dangerous objects and places in the area. It is forbidden to sit on the ground. Entry for children is forbidden. Have you heard about the Red Forest? My very young readers will agree that the name is fancy, and their older siblings, as well as parents, know that the forest is as close to the nuclear power plant as possible, so it became heavily polluted when the accident occurred. Radioactive objects still remain there, in addition to dangerous places, but what we have seen is difficult to describe. Not a zombie apocalypse, nor a wasteland, no crazy radiation like it’s told in the legends ... THE TRIUMPH OF NATURE! These lands embody the so-called age of Christ after the catastrophe — the area has become a true reserve for 33 years. Our group came here during a green, juicy summer, so the plants were everywhere: evergreens, poplars, wild apples and apricots, wild rose, various herbs and flowers. Somehow, the high level of radiation did not affect the environment. In fact it’s right the opposite. ALPHA RADIATION is the flow of positively charged particles (nuclei of helium atoms). Absorbed by a piece of paper, it almost does not penetrate the human skin. It is dangerous if its particles enter the body with food or air.

Starting with mother’s lullaby, gradually, with small steps, we enter the enchanted forest, travel along the path to the wizard’s house, while meeting gnomes, good fairies and evil orcs on the way. Thanks to fairy tales we learn to distinguish between good and evil, between falsehood and truth. We begin to understand the emotions and actions of the heroes by trying on their roles and falling asleep in a warm, comfortable bed whilst listening to the grandmother’s tale, we rewrite the storyline in our own way! We grow with fairy tales, drawing the necessary lesson from each, read or told. Thanks to these amazing and exemplary childhood stories we understand the irony or hidden sense. We draw parallels with life and find ways out of seemingly difficult situations. Fairy tales live next to us, you just need to feel them, and over the years we increasingly want their presence in our lives. And when the silver gray touches our hair and the time comes to read fairy tales to our grandchildren - on a quiet evening, in the soft light of a night lamp, we will plunge into this magical world. And, perhaps, the first tale that we will tell will be our own life story, slightly seasoned with a sauce of fables, fantasies and desires. Black Beard, Captain Flint, John Silver and the wellknown Captain Jack Sparrow – all these characters, regardless of their real existence or literary fiction, chained us to the TV screens or to a book from reading which time slowed down and the breaths were taken! Boarding, saber fights, and of course treasure chests, a black flag with a skull, a parrot screaming "piastres" and a pirate code ... I am sure many of us, back in our childhood, after watching the movie "Pirates" directed by Roman Polanski ran out into the yard not only to share the impressions, but tried to recreate the plot by distributing roles among friends and constructing "Neptune" from the things found at the school dump!.. But was everything in the life of the pirates so romantic and subjective as literature and cinema show us? We want to share interesting facts about these ruthless sea robbers with our readers.

The eyepatch has remained an indispensable part of the pirate image for a long time. However, the pirates did not wear it out of the reason that every second one of them lacked an eye. It was simply convenient for quicker and more accurate aiming in battle, and putting it on specifically before a battle was pretty time-consuming, so it was more comfortable to wear the eyepatch without taking it off. And also when descending into a ship’s dark hold, this allowed for better navigation, since 1 eye was already used to the dark.
The pirate wardrobe was far from as colorful as shown in the films! And certainly they did not wear large hats with feathers, otherwise they would be blown away at the first gust of wind. They wore the simplest and most comfortable clothes and tight-fitting hats with ties and flaps for the ears. Pirates walked barefoot on the deck, regardless of rank, and only the captain, when setting foot ashore, could afford some luxurious clothes.

It is believed that pirates sailed under a black flag, which depicted a skull with bones - "Jolly Roger". Maybe one of the pirate ships had one, but often they just raised a black or even a red flag before boarding without any image at all. By the way, the very name "Jolly Roger" - "Jolly Roger", comes from the distorted French jolie rouge, which means "bright red".
Frequently in films and books it is told how pirates purposefully hunted for huge wealth: gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, but alas, ships with such a load were extremely rare, and they were guarded in such a way that pirates would have to collect an entire pirate fleet to capture them. In fact, cargo ships transported goods for the colonies — soap, tools, hemp, food, medicine, navigation equipment, and telescopes. This was the main "treasure" that the pirates hunted for!

Throughout our lives we look at the sky and try to read the clouds ... Nature paints surprisingly vivid pictures of these fluffy, cotton lumps with a “windy” brush on a blue canvas of the sky. And everyone looking at this canvas sees there his own picture, understandable only to him... But what is there, above the clouds? I think children's dreams live there, desires, fantasies and fairy tales! For them there is a separate “heavenly chest”, where, since the creation of the World, everything beautiful that has been created by children's consciousness is manifested! Our country, beautiful and generous, hospitable and loving, with its endless soul opened wide to everyone who wants to know it, feel it, become its part for at least a moment! Spreading its wide wings caressing the tops of the Carpathian pines and the warm expanse of the Sea of Azov, Ukraine took more than 42 million people of different nationalities, religions and skin colors in her arms’ warm hug! Ukraine is rich in everything: sincerely loving its people, with fertile fields, seas and mountains, amazing traditions and ethnic culture. But ,most importantly, it is rich in children, children who sacredly believe in the strength and will of their country, children who want to be “architects” of a better future for their Ukraine ...!
