Obituary Norman Smith was the 5th of 13 children born to Leo Sr. and Lola Smith, on May 8, 1952 in Gadsden Alabama. He attended Carver High School, before choosing to serve in the U.S Army and Army Reserves. He retired after 32 years at the Atlanta Ford Assembly Plant. Norman was also known as the “Traveling Barber”. He would take his tools and his gift to not only cut hair, but to give encouragement to everyone who sat in his chair for over 50 years. Norman’s life changed when he met the love and joy of his life, Karen. They were happily married over 34 years. Together they walked as FAITHWALKERS, trusting God and serving the community. Norman was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren. There was no greater joy than to be surrounded by his family. He was also a devoted servant who found joy in just talking to people about God. He shared the good news to all who would listen to him tell of his almost 12-year journey with cancer. He wanted others to see God’s power through his constant battle with cancer, a battle he fought and won. When his work was finished the Lord allowed him to choose the day and time to gain his wings for his heavenly home. Family Tributes TO A LOVING FATHER
TO OUR GRANDDADDY
Daddy,
I love you so much granddaddy. I will follow every lesson you have taught me. Thank you for raising me like your own. I miss you so much already. I’ll always be your baby.
For 34 years, I was blessed to have you by my side. You were so perfect. I'd give anything just to hear your voice again. I will forever cherish every life lesson and memories that we've created. I can't thank you enough for always supporting my decisions, even if they weren't the best and for loving me unconditionally. I know without a doubt that you're safe in Heaven. Please continue watching over mom, sisters and your grandchildren. Our guardian Angel Love, Whitney
Love, Kiersten Thank you for being the best granddaddy. You were always there for me taking me to Waffle House. I love you and I will miss you. You're still my hero. Love , Joelle You were always reassuring me that you loved me and God would always protect me. I’m gonna miss you. I know that you’re still with me only now you are my guardian angel! Love, Micah
"Daddy, thank you for making a believer out of me. You told me that God would tell you when it was time to take your eternal rest, and you would let me know. It happened just like that!! I will forever value the friendship that we created. People don’t get the chance to be friends with their parents. I love you so much. You were the epitome of what a good God fearing man was. I’m gonna miss you. My memories will keep me smiling until I see you next time!
I’d selfishly give anything for one last hug, but I know that you are at peace and no longer suffering. Thank You for loving me unconditionally. Thank You for being my safety net throughout life, no matter what I was going through, and Thank You for showing me that God is real and faithful. Your memory will forever live within me. Until we meet again. Love, Britt
Love always, Brandee"
