School's back in session. If it's not school, its daycare, and a schedule that requires healthy routine. And so comes the feeling of being busier.than.ever. | school supply shopping | school clothes shopping | and unpacking from summer vacation. Okay, maybe that's just me whenever I come home from a trip out of town. With packed schedules, time can be pressed for making healthy lunches your kids will actually eat and a quick healthy dinner that everyone is actually home for. I can help. Eating healthy ALL YEAR LONG doesn't have to be hard. Before you sabotage your plans for the perfect healthy + nutritious school year, let's talk. Did you know approximately 17% of children ages 2-19 in the United States are obese, which has steadily increased over the past 30 years? Many variables contribute to this statistic. But we have the opportunity to change these numbers by providing healthy foods to our children, encouraging play time, becoming informed about what our school systems offer for meals and snacks, and creating an engaging and healthy environment that promotes positive body image and healthy food choices. There are several quick and easy ways you can keep your kids lunch boxes and snack bags filled with the right foods! Including a variety of whole foods throughout your kids day, to ensure a well balanced diet, will keep them growing physically and mentally. Boundless energy for learning and play comes from your child's diet and nutrition - which doesn't have to include the sugar induced high associated with "fruit" roll-ups. Don't wait until September to consider healthy school lunch, daycare snacks, and easy weeknight dinners. Together, we can prep for the transition from slow(er) summer to busy fall. copyright barb biagioli, chhc, llc 2017
