Early College Graduates Barberton High School has developed an unprecedented model that allows students to earn a free associate degree from The University of Akron while completing their high school experience. Early College High School (ECHS) students earn college credits and complete their academic general education requirements. All college expenses, including textbooks and tuition, are covered by BHS. Each associate degree has a path to a bachelor’s degree and additional graduate education opportunities at The University of Akron and other institutions across Ohio. This is the first class of students to complete the program.
