House in Koloděje building project / 2018–present / Norma architects / with Ing. arch. Jana Moravcová, Michal Slusar The house for the five-member household is maximally utilizing the capacity of the plot given by the land-use plan to accommodate the family programme. The layout is based on demands for privacy and non-conflictual day-today operations. Other parameters were room orientation according to the direction of sunlight and surrounding urbanism (road to Běchovice, neighboring houses). Strict geometry and plain solid surfaces are revived with the structured render, each facade has an individual character to differentiate the atmospheres in the garden.
School in Říčany competition entry / 2017 / Norma architects / with Ing. arch. Jana Moravcová, Markus Krieger, Ondřej Teplý The new elementary school in a promising catchment village and redefinition of the square. Creating a horizontal platform for a clear urban approach to school and location of sports grounds. On its edge operates the compact half-transparent cube, filled with a compressed school programme and a gym. The classrooms are adjacent to the longitudinal facades, in the center is the inner architectural landscape of the accompanying functions, vertically interconnected. The light facade system has three levels of transparency, the interior is adjustable.

Botanical Garden in Prague competition entry – 3rd place / 2017 / Norma architects + Rehwaldt Landschaftsarchitekten team: Moravcová, Rehwaldt, Antošová, Štefanič, Zachmeisterová, Sladká, Vaňková, Černý, Teplý Competition for the new entrance area of the Botanical Garden in Prague. Complex programme including educational activities (lecture hall and library), administrative, a glasshouse, restaurant, and public garage serves also to surrounding residential zones. The existing terrain morphology is used to hide a volume of the garage and create the new public terrace overlooking the entire garden. The transparent glasshouse on the front edge defines the entrance, the permeable partly lifted wooden architecture on the side offers contact with surrounding forests.

Restaurant Parukåřka student project / 2015 / UMPRUM The task to replace an existing wooden pub on the top of the hill with a new restaurant for 150 people. The proposal preserves the existing public toilets with a viewpoint on the roof and connects it with a new volume, partly integrated into the terrain. The jagged concrete structure follows the shape of the hill in two directions and offers a tectonized walkable landscape accessible from above, a background for summer open-air events. The widest part includes a bar and kitchen, in the forefront is located a space for music performances - a local tradition. The whole facade is foldable to interact with the existing terrace.
Grafoprint 3.0 student project / 2015 / UMPRUM The conversion and extension of a former printing factory with a long history. The historical 19th-century brick building, complemented in the 30s and in 70s with a skeleton frame structures, is extended with a contemporary steel layer, prolonging the structure towards the city center. The hybrid compiled structure hosts a public library with a printing workshop, an educational research center, a swimming pool and canteen “levitating above the tunnel. In the interior, the conserved historical layers and original technical equipment of a modern ruin are juxtaposed with new materials and laboratory aesthetics.
SmĂchov – Study of the City student project / 2014 / UMPRUM Research on the formation of the post-industrial district and its surrounding landscape focused on actual and overlooked urban topics aiming to find connections between past and future, between the city and periphery, between the hills and the valley. The study reveals the existing marginal structures/places and emphasizes them as a layer/ecosystem which can be further developed, where the historical and up-to-date can overlap. The transfer, presented with text and collage of samples, is driven by a contemporary view on nature, technology and urban landscape. In the four geo-located and 3D mapped threads, the character of changing district emerges.
Horizon master thesis / 2018 / UMPRUM The project is focused on a vast and empty site in the Prague historical city centre, surrounding the main railway station. The horizon is a special place in the urban structure where the issues of different perspectives, scales and disciplines intersects. The complex rupture is a natural morphologic break, a traffic junction, an administrative border between 4 districts – a situation where the coordination and vision are necessary.
Combining preservation, demolition and construction in the critical spots, the proposal evaluates the existent qualities from multiple perspectives, restores the permeability of the entire territory and adds new layers, inputs, and bonds to visually, physically and functionally interconnect the territory within the city. The form of local development expanding the existing functions (housing, transportation hub, educational center, park, cultural institutions), is a reaction to the ongoing change of Prague and densification of neighboring districts. The complemented and networked horizon provides an open platform for further development and preserves the dynamic character of “unfinished, which is in my opinion the most important feature of the territory.
Totems - A Dispersed Village student project / 2017 / UMPRUM To inhabit extreme conditions, the bare frozen landscape of Nova Zemlya, a model of a dispersed village adapting a local nomadic tradition is proposed. The village as an expandable system of supportive bases is open for long-term or short-term living in independent mobile units, oscillating around them in the open landscape. The individual bases–totems mark the crucial spots of the valley, covering the distance of 1-day travel, from the downtown port to the baths up in the mountains.
Studio housing student project / 2016 / UMPRUM A prototype of a studio apartment house generated from the site conditions and surrounding urbanism. The introverted section is a reaction to the noisy traffic on both sides, the volume and shape aim to correspond with surrounding villa urbanism. The studios with high ceilings are connected through a loggia in the vertical skylight and can be rented together. The gap between houses – a local phenomenon – is repeated to support the local urban pattern and preserve free space for future growth or joint of individual houses.
Terraced House student project / 2013 / UMPRUM A family house in the outskirts of Prague on the long plot with an orchard covering the steep hillside. The house is recessed under the level of the street and partly integrated into the slope to appear unobtrusively on the visually exposed edge. The rooftop extending the narrow street on the top level is used for parking. A vertical volume transverse to the slope with the staircase, library and bathrooms reaches the depth of the plot and overlooks the orchard. The 3 equal adjacent apartment units follow the shape of the hill. Each equipped with the rear facility background offers an independent and flexible use of space.
Vacant Lot student project / 2014 / UMPRUM An apartment house for a community of four families is placed in a vacant lot with a working gas station. The proposed house is touching the ground with a single core and two lateral supporting walls to preserve the gas station service. The plain street facade is double layered, with loggias hidden behind the semi-transparent layer of steel wire mesh panels, the backyard facade where the main living spaces are situated is in contrast tectonized with a distorted landscape of cantilevered balconies.
Boundary / Unit Bangkok student project / 2016 / INDA - Chulangkorn University in Bangkok, TA / with Mew Kerdpanya, Rebekah Lee A short workshop dealing with the urban micro-settlement and endangered locality near the popular tourist site Khao San. The site surrounded by city and temple is a calm labyrinth of semi-private and private spaces. The proposal takes an already working feature of the community, a common “Boundary” space, and amplifies it with a new permeable system extending the shared space vertically, providing new technical functions. “Unit” – the second element derived from the local lifestyle is a habitable cube in a cube working with layers of transparency.
Dubnica Interface student project / 2016 / Dubnica nad Váhom, SK / with Václav Pošmourný, Jakub Wiesner, Mária Smetanová A short workshop focused on the entrance of transforming military zone in the mountains. The shift from military to industrial production raises a need to provide publicly accessible facilities connecting the zone with the city. The new interface allowing an overlap of activities is defined by a horizontal surface in between two parallel structures. The first one is a new 4-floor volume for an administrative, the second is an existing object transformed for public activities – the bare skeleton with new transparent skin is preserved as a vertical attractor, its plinth is prolonged with the horizontal volume and opened with the wide ramp towards the city.
Hollow Wall student project / 2017 / UMPRUM / with Michaela Marešová, Jaromír Čížek The quick task to design a habitat for a community of 3 people in the tropical rainforest. To reach a mosquito free canopy and sunlight, a narrow vertical lightweight structure is proposed. Three diverse insulated personal units are vertically and horizontally distributed in the woven net to keep a mutual distance. The in-between walkthrough space with shared kitchen is a common platform, open for guests.
Dream Space student project / 2012 / UMPRUM The project about a personal dream space, complemented with personal architecture. Identification with the spot within the existing city fabric, where the dream-like and day-to-day overlap. The vivid atmosphere of surrounding dream locations: a hill, a path, an adjacent old apartment building, contrast with the personal architecture – the inconspicuous box of a simple scheme – a rooftop extension, opened towards the hill. Interior space is organized by two transverse vertical cores with stairs, the first one entering the apartment, the second one the rooftop. Both cores are equipped with all the necessary amenities and storage.
Brasília / Utopia Map student project / 2016 / UMPRUM The project of the self-made on-line interactive map for Google Maps Api, created for the Brasília city as an answer to the topic of urban utopia. The virtual interactive environment – a network game – offers a clear map and equal conditions for its users. The users can insert their own marks with coordinates and assign to them their own projects, specific properties, images, icons and actions. The utopia/map is a plural, shared space, at some points overlapping with reality.
Tbilisi Square / Gallery student project / 2013 / Tbilisi, GE / with Jan SkoÄ?ek The student workshop was about the transformation of abandoned public space in the representative locality facing the city centre of Tbilisi, next to the main city boulevard with cultural and municipal buildings. To preserve the quiet reserve where one can rest from the surrounding density, we decided not to build inside the recessed square and instead articulate its perimeter. The boundary uses different depths – part of the gallery space is hidden under the avenue, part is located in the narrow linear bent-up volume raising into the observation tower, part is kept as a plain retaining wall.
Workshop with ON/OFF workshop / 2017 / Norma space / with Berk Asal and Samuel Carvalho from ON/OFF (Berlin) Participation in a student workshop organized by Norma space in Prague. Working in three teams with a limited amount of material, we designed and realized on-site projects for three locations: the waterfront, the Norma space gallery and a small square in between these two. A mobile 2,5 m x 4 m screen/frame is a realized part from the series of urban frames proposed for the waterfront. In the daytime the translucent screen diffuses sunlight, at night, it is lit up by movie projections from the boat “Avoid or by the city traffic.
Chair student project / 2011 / Secondary Professional School of Applied Art A self-made chair in the school joinery workshop.
Table student project / 2012 / Secondary Professional School of Applied Art A furniture design and realization in the school joinery workshop. The table consisting of one material can be carved from a single wooden board.
