Welcome to Kids’ Hidden Trivia

Bible Word Searches!

If you like Bible word searches, you’ll love this book. Here are 100 puzzles to expand your Bible knowledge and test your word search skills, as thousands of search words— selected from the kid-friendly Simplified King James and New Life Versions of the Bible—await your discovery. And there’s a bonus: In each puzzle the leftover letters spell out a bonus trivia question to challenge your memory of God’s Word!

Each puzzle features a scripture passage with the search words printed in bold type. When a phrase is bold and underlined, those words will be found together in the puzzle grid. Once you’ve found all the search words, begin at the top left-hand corner of the puzzle and read the leftover letters in order—they’ll spell out a trivia question that adds to the fun. If you run into the letter “X” repeated, the question is complete.

Answers—for both the puzzles and the trivia questions—appear at the back of the book, beginning on page 207.

We know you’re eager to get started, so just one final word: Enjoy!

1. In the Beginning. . . of Time and Space

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void. And darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good, and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

The First People

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper that is right for him.” Out of the ground the Lord God made every animal of the field and every bird of the sky. He brought them to the man to find out what he would call them. And whatever the man called a living thing, that was its name. Adam gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field. But there was no helper found that was right for Adam. So the Lord God put the man to sleep as if he were dead. And while he was sleeping, He took one of the bones from his side and closed up the place with flesh. The Lord God made woman from the bone which He had taken from the man. And He brought her to the man.

3. Sin Enters the World

And the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” And the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Really Old Folks

When Adam had lived 130 years, he gave birth to a son in his own likeness. And he gave him the name Seth. Adam lived 800 years after he became the father of Seth. He had other sons and daughters. So Adam lived 930 years, and he died. When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh. Seth lived 807 years after the birth of Enosh. He had other sons and daughters. So Seth lived 912 years, and he died. When Enosh had lived ninety years, he became the father of Kenan. Enosh lived 815 years after the birth of Kenan. He had other sons and daughters. So Enosh lived 905 years, and he died.

5. Good Old Noah

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them. And behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”

6. The Flood, the Boat, the Plan

“See, I will bring a flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh under heaven that has the breath of life. Everything on earth will be destroyed. But I will make My agreement with you. You will go into the large boat, you and your sons and your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. You are to bring into the large boat two of every kind of living thing of all flesh, to keep them alive with you. They will be male and female. Two of all the kinds of birds, and animals, and every thing that moves on the ground are to be with you to keep them alive. And take with you every kind of food that is eaten, and store it. It will be food for you and for them.” Noah did just what God told him to do.

7. After the Flood

And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built. And the Lord said, “Behold, the people are one, and they have all one language, and they begin to do this. And now nothing that they have imagined to do will be restrained from them. Come, let Us go down and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the Lord scattered them out from there on the face of all the earth, and they stopped building the city. Therefore, its name is called Babel, because the Lord there confounded the language of all the earth, and from there the Lord scattered them out on the face of all the earth.

God Calls Abram

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Leave your country, your family and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you. And I will make you a great nation. I will bring good to you. I will make your name great, so you will be honored. I will bring good to those who are good to you. And I will curse those who curse you. Good will come to all the families of the earth because of you.”

So Abram left as the Lord told him to do, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

9. A Baby for an Old Couple?

And God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai, your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her and give you a son from her also. Yes, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations. Kings of people shall be from her.” Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to him who is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?”

Fightin’ Twins

These are the children and their children’s children of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham was the father of Isaac. Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan-aram, and the sister of Laban the Syrian. Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she could not give birth and the Lord answered him. Rebekah was able to give birth. But the babies within her fought together. And she said, “If this is so, why am I like this?” She went to ask the Lord why. The Lord said to her, “Two nations are within you. Two peoples will be divided from your body. One will be stronger than the other. And the older will serve the younger.”
