CITY OF RACINE Winter Parking Regulations Take Effect

December 1st

Seven Day a Week, Alternate Side Parking Regulations are in effect from December 1 to April 1, excepting Thanksgiving Day, December 25th and January 1st. Vehicles must park on the even-numbered address side of the street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. of an even-numbered calendar day; and on the odd-numbered side of the street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. of an odd-numbered day. Vehicles violating these restrictions are subject to ticketing and a $20 fine. During declared Snow Emergencies: 1) no parking is allowed on arterial and collector streets while the Snow Emergency is in effect, violators will be towed; 2) on local streets, odd/even side parking restrictions (based on the following day’s date) start when a Snow Emergency is declared, and remain in effect until 6 a.m. Visit “Winter Parking” under “City News” at www.cityofracine.org for exceptions to these guidelines and a Snow Emergency Parking Restriction Map, or call the Police Department at 262-635-7750.

All property owners in the City of Racine are required by City Ordinance 82-109 to remove snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their property. All snow and ice must be removed from the full width of the sidewalk within 24 hours after cessation of a snowfall. Failure to remove or cause to be removed all snow and ice from the sidewalk in front, along the side of, or adjacent to your property will result in a violation notice being mailed accompanied by an inspection fee in the amount of $50.00. If upon reinspection a violation still exists, a reinspection fee for an additional $50.00 will be charged along with the costs incurred by the Department of Public Works for snow and ice removal.
