Yes, I Think So... The Caledonia Election is Tuesday, April 2nd

My name is Jeff Scott an Angry Caledonia Taxpayer and here is my reason why I am voting against all the Caledonia Trustee incumbents that are running in this coming election. My son was taken advantage of by the Town of Caledonia. The Town of Caledonia gave my son permission to leave a parked vehicle for 48 hours, then turned around 12 hours later and had my son’s car towed 2.4 miles at a price of $300 to their contractor Finishing Touch Auto body. When I contacted our Caledonia Village President Ron Coutts he had no idea of what the auto body shop charges. I was told he would talk to the police chief and get back to me. So much for me being a Caledonia taxpayer no return phone call, no explanation. This is a guy who wants to continue to run the town of Caledonia? Mr. Ron Coutts has been on the Caledonia board since 1993, and village board president since 2007 and they have no idea on who they hire for contractors or what they are allowed to charge their taxpayers for a tow? The common sense thing to do was to find out and correct the problem. Instead as usual the taxpayer gets a BIG BILL and no response. What a Town!

I am not stupid and I’m sure the Caledonia Village Board Trustees members are not either, so here are some interesting questions that you should think about? 1. Why would the Town of Caledonia hire an auto body shop instead of a professional towing company? Would they hire a plumber to install a new furnace in the town hall?

2. If the contractors are working for the town as a sub-contractor do you think they would set limits

on what they could charge? (6 times their normal rate is reasonable?) Are they considering the taxpayer? Before any elected official make any decision they discuss the rules, policies and charges and then they make their final decision. So I am to believe they hired somebody to do the towns towing (an auto body shop) and have no idea what they are charging? Who is going to believe this? I certainly don’t! Do You???

3. If Mr. Ron Coutts told me he did not know the towns policy or pricing, is this a reasonable response for the

town president who is running this town? Who passed this policy then? Who approved the company Finishing Auto Body?

4. If this was Ron Coutts son or daughter do you really think they would have been charged $300 by the town’s contractor for a 2.4 mile tow?

5. One last thing, Ron Coutts the village president has been in Caledonia office for 20 years what is he going to do for Caledonia that he has not tried or done before? Does Caledonia belong to the taxpayers or to Ron Coutts and his village trustees? This will be decided on April 2, 2013
