Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

myBarker

myBarker is the School Portal where you can access information including the School calendar, student timetables, reports and receive notifications about forms to complete. Detailed information about the School can be accessed under Discover More or use the search function to quickly find the information you are looking for. The myBarker App can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple Store.

1. Login to my.barker.college using your Barker Portal parent credentials. If you have forgotten your username please visit https://password.barker.college. Forgotten passwords can also be reset by following the prompts. 2. Take a Tour – Use the Take a Tour feature in the left hand navigation for a quick overview of the features on myBarker.

Select the school calendars you wish to view e.g. Prep, Primary, Middle or Senior, along with School Dates.

The first point of contact for all matters is your child’s Head of House in the Secondary School and Class teacher in the Junior School.

3. The To Do List features the forms that you currently have waiting to complete. To Do items, at this stage will be online forms to action. With online forms, you will be taken directly to EdSmart forms to complete or action. Currently it is not possible to delete/archive items in your To Do list. This feature will be added for future phase rollouts. Items in your To Do list will be automatically removed AFTER the event.

Green shows your completed tasks. Red indicates the tasks that are overdue or still need to be actioned. White indicates your General notifications eg general information from the School pertaining to sport etc. No action is required. You can also Create a Task by selecting the (+) and completing the information that will appear in the pop-up.

4. Left Hand Navigation menu – allows you to navigate to My

Apps which include Subscriptions and Magazines, Research

Resources, as well as quick links to Flexischools, Tuckshop volunteers and the Bulletin and Junior School News. Links to the

Sports Hub, Community Directory, Canvas, School TV and the

Barker website can also be accessed from here.

5. Discover More – Here you will find content categorised by Community, Junior, Middle and

Senior School. Use the search bar at the top of your page to access information quickly. The notifications icon indicates the number of new notices that you have received. Please view and Mark as Read once completed. The ‘Star’ icon next to the notifications bell can be used to favourite regularly visited pages.

6. Selecting Student Profile will provide access to your child’s timetable, co-curricular activities, academic report and academic dashboard. Click on the respective tab to select.

7. Co-curricular Activities – this tab displays your child’s particular cocurricular activities with links to additional information, upcoming events for that activity and a contact email.

Select the relevant day that your child will be playing sport and double click on the event.

The pop up will show the team your child is playing in, time and location, including a hyperlink Google map.

ICT Support

The service arm of the Barker College ICT Department is known as iCentral and is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm during school term time and from 8am to 4pm on Saturdays and during school holidays. iCentral is only closed for public holidays and from Christmas Eve to the start of the first full working week in January. iCentral is located on level 2 in the Secondary School Library and can also be contacted via phone on (02) 8438 7775 or via email at icentral@barker.nsw.edu.au

CANVAS

Canvas is our online classroom for Years 3 - 12. It is a central location that connects students with every aspect of their learning. On Canvas, students can: • engage with online content and learning resources • keep track of ongoing progress • view homework and assessment tasks

• submit work and view feedback

• participate in discussions • collaborate with their peers • communicate with their teacher

Canvas is supported by BL@Barker, a blended learning program that provides students with an empowering environment that enriches face-to-face teaching with online learning opportunities.

Seesaw

Seesaw is a digital learning platform and Learning Management System for Pre-K to 2 students at Barker. It provides families with an immediate and personalised window into their child’s School life.

Students are able to independently document their learning with built-in creative tools, whilst being taught important Digital Citizenship skills.
