INTRODUCTION What is rude, insulting, bad taste and obscene? Perhaps obscenity, like beauty, is only in the eye of the beholder. A lot of good people believe that war is obscene, censorship is obscene, most of the ‘news’ is bad tasting, and that some news reporting is hard core voyeuristic ‘porn’ of the very worst, least defendable kind. There is a widely held view that many ads are insulting to our intelligence, and that the gap between rich and poor in the world is disgusting. Yet leading politicians through out the world seem to be OK with arms dealers living in big mansions, and they schmooze with serial murderers, liars and thieves who they give medals to, and then go to church ... but they think the word ‘Fuck’ is obscene? They imprison musicians for singing songs? Fuck them and their ‘holier than thou’ supporters. Their hypocrisy is truly decadent. They should join the decent part of the human race. Of course there is the right and the wrong place for rude, insulting, bad taste and ‘obscene’ songs. The main thing to remember is that there is a right place. So, if you have got this far, this ‘Song Book’, with clickable links to every song listed, could be the right places for you to be. We may have the very links you are looking for. For example if you need a song to tell someone where to go, then there may be a few useful links in the ‘Fuck, Fuck You, Fuck Off, Mother Fucker’ chapter. We are trying to offer a useful public service here, as well as an objective survey which may be useful to academics and those studying human psychology. Without a doubt humans have been singing so called ‘obscene’ and ‘bad taste’ songs for thousands of years. Probably the first “grunt” was either a curse or a sexual expression. Rude and lewd songs are as much a part of our culture as the most pious prayers, in fact some of the best ‘bad’ songs may actually be prayers. The day no one sings or plays a single ‘objectionable’ song is the day the machines have taken over. The good news is that currently we are living through a ‘golden age’ of the rude, insulting, bad taste and ‘obscene’ song. There is no shortage of things to be rude and insulting about, and seemingly no shortage of people all to happy to become very insulted. It seems that one Youtube post has the potential to turn so called ‘normal’ people into enraged lynch mobs. They need to lighten up and listen to ‘Fuck Yourself’ by Kieth Vai. This manages to be rude, insulting, in bad taste and ‘obscene’ all in one brilliant track; truly a manifesto for self liberation. As we trawl the dark side of the human psyche, searching the internet for signs of anger, passion lust and depravity, we discover tormented souls with talent. We also discover tormented souls with no talent at all who are simply lashing out at the world, or just using gratuitous obscenity to get YouTube hits. So, while searching the underground sewers of human culture, and the dark side of the web, we are still looking for quality. Only the best of the ‘bad’ will do. Love them or hate them, these songs express a part of humanity we should be proud of, the part that tells the truth, even if it is fucking shit, and it often is. FUCK, FUCK YOU, FUCK OFF, MOTHER FUCKER Fuck Everyone - Everlast (1990). The lyrics are aimed at Tipper Gore and her pro censorship campaign to ban music with “profane language”. The campaign was stated by Tipper after listening to ‘Darling Nikki’ by Prince (1985) in her 12 year old daughters bedroom. See ‘Darling Nikki’ in the ‘Sexually Explicit’ category + Freedom of Speech by Ice-T below. Freedom of Speech - Ice-T (1989), from the album The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech ... Just Watch What You Say. ‘Freedom of Speech’ is an extended attack on Tipper Gore: Yo Tip, what's the matter? You ain't gettin' no dick? You're bitchin' about rock'n'roll, that's censorship, dumb bitch The Constitution says we all got a right to speak Say what we want Tip, your argument is weak In his book The Ice Opinion, Ice-T wrote, "Tipper Gore is the only woman I ever directly called a bitch on any of my records, and I meant that in the most negative sense of the word". In "You Shoulda Killed Me Last Year", his spoken-word intro to his album O.G. Original Gangster (link to text), he curses out the police, the CIA, the LAPD, the FBI, George Bush Sr. ... and Tipper Gore. Fuck Yourself - Steve Vai. Best played loud on Sundays and other holy shopping days and on Songs of Praise. This inspirational holy hymn sounds like it might be by Frank Zappa, but it is not. It is by Steve Vai who played with Zappa and is on his Flex-Able Leftovers album. If You Don’t Wanna Fuck Me, Then Baby Fuck Off - Wayne County & The Electric Chairs (1978). Fuck You - Dean Johnson & The Weenies. Kick Out The Jams Mother Fucker - MC5 (live in Detroit 1970). This was possibly the first time the words ‘Mother Fucker’ were recorded in a music lyric. Fuck You - Fifi L’Amour. Sung with Xaviera Hollander, author of the Happy Hooker. The entire song has only two words: “fuck you”. Fifi L’Amour sadly died in 2012. Her other YouTube performances are listed here. Fuck Them All - Mylène Farmer. In French (with English subtitles), however she sings “Fuck them all” in English. Fuck You Symphony - Millie Jackson (and orchestra). Fuck Em All - Salty Dick. A World War II classic from the CD ‘Salty Dick's Uncensored Sailor Songs. This song “represents the naval and merchant marine view of things”. More ‘Fuck Them all‘ - a fucking long list of ‘Fuck Them All’ songs.
SEXUALLY EXPLICIT Darling Nikki - Prince (1985). Tipper Gore (wife of ex US vice President Al Gore) heard ‘Darling Nikki’ in her 12-year-old daughter's room. She was so appalled that she started a pro-censorship organisation, the ‘Parents Music Resource Center’ (PMRC) to campaign against music with ‘profane language’. Thankfully Tipper Gore’s campaign failed ... except to inspire some good tracks from musicians protesting against it. ‘Mother’ by Danzig (1988) is perhaps the most considered reaction to the PMRC, and got in the Top 40 charts. IceT’s “Freedom Of Speech” (see ‘Fuck’ section) was a direct attack on Tipper Gore. "Hook In Mouth" - Megadeth (1988) compares the PMRC to Orwell’s 1984: F is for fighting, R is for red, Ancestors' blood in battles they've shed. E, we elect them, E, we eject them, In the land of the free, and the home of the brave. D, for your dying, O, your overture, M, they will cover your grave with manure. This spells out freedom, it means nothing to me, As long as there's a P.M.R.C. Wreck A Pum Pum - Prince Buster. Why D'ya Do It? - Marianne Faithful. Lyrics by Heathcote Williams. He's So Gay - Frank Zappa Foreplay Playground - The Raped. They caused an almost perfect storm of hysterical indignation and censorious outrage with their first EP ‘Pretty Paedophiles (1977). This did them no good, so they changed their name to The Cuddly Toys. I Can't Come (B-Side) (1977) - The Snivelling Shits. This was the only song ever released by the Snivelling Shits. The main reason for it’s release was to prove that the music reviewers at the New Musical Express were a bunch of clueless hacks who didn't know what they were doing, and were so desperate to jump on the punk bandwagon that they'd praise any old crap that proclaimed itself to be punk ... NME made it their single of the week. The song was ‘written’ by Giovanni Dadomo who worked for the opposition music papers at the time, Sounds & Zig Zag.

PROTEST Big Boys Bickering - Paul McCartney. Environmental protest song banned by MTV and the BBC for being “obscene” due to using variations of the word Fuck seven times. McCartney explained his use of words for the song: “When I am talking about the ozone layer and the big hole in it ... fifty miles wide hole. I don’t think well that’s a “flipping hole”, I think that is a “fucking big hole”. And it’s got to be closed.” Punk Prayer - Pussy Riot. This outraged the Russian establishment with its neo-punk message. This was considered so insulting to Putin and the Russian Orthodox church that the artists were dispatched to jail. So much for singing prayers. In ‘modern’ Russia this is ok only as long as no punk prayers are sung attacking the corruption of the Church (as Jesus might have done if he had an electric guitar). GRATUITOUSLY OFFENSIVE GG Allin Song list - almost every song is offensive; ‘I Wanna Punch You In The Face’; ‘I Hate My Audience’ , ‘Stick A Cross Up A Nun's Cunt’. The list is very long as GG Allin must be one of the most prolific writer of gratuitously offensive songs in history. He took a lot of LSD and other drugs, but it was a spell in prison that sent him really loopy. He came out in a raging fury against society. From then on his songs were all purposely written to be as gratuitously offensive as possible. Thankfully he channeled his anger into writing offensive songs (although they are not especially brilliant), rather than any direct action.
