Marge Luther School Days Oct 1 – Dec 30

Celebrate the start of a new school year with our annual Marge Luther Back-to-School programs for kids in kindergarten through third grade. Visit the newly renovated Youth Services department and complete our Playful Learning Challenge to open the library treasure chest. Return two more times and pick out a free book to take home. Join the School Days Reading Club and complete 50 books by December 30 to receive your personalized READ poster (also displayed on library screens until January 31). Program funded by an endowment from former Barrington teacher Marge Luther.

The Gallery in the Library proudly presents an art exhibit featuring works by artists from Little City in Palatine, IL. “For more than 20 years, the Center for the Arts has provided children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to explore and expand their unique and creative talents, promoting a sense of accomplishment and empowerment through the arts. The result is a dynamic arts organization that on a daily basis pushes the edge of the artistic envelope, and strives for innovation by offering new possibilities of artistic engagement through exposure to new mediums and ideas.”

Share My Kingdom documentary Wednesday, Sept 17, 7 PM

You’ll be inspired and moved by this documentary, which delves into the lives and art of three artists with developmental disabilities who emerged from the art studio of Little City Foundation. Get a view into the compelling life histories and artistic creations of Harold Jeffries, Wayne Mazurek and Luke Tauber. While the three men in the documentary seemingly have the odds stacked against them, they are able to turn their ideas into reality. The film premiered at the Gene Siskel Film Center and has been shown at the Athens International Film and Video Festival and the Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival. Refreshments. Register.
