To all the children who feel like they aren’t enough ... We are all missing something. No one has everything. Learning to cope with what you are missing in life will make you strong. And then helping other people will make you enough. Go for it.

Alice Peasbody lived in Victorian times.
2
Her nickname was ‘Pancake Face’. She didn’t have a nose.
3
It might have been all right to have no nose, but people did point, and snigger, and look at Alice with horror.
4
Alice began to wear a hood and keep away from people.
5
One day Alice asked the doctor for a pretend nose.
6
The pretend nose was attached to a pair of glasses. The whole thing was very clever. The china nose rubbed on Alice’s flat face, but when it was on, Alice felt more normal, and so she wore it.

Freddy hated school.
“It’s boring and a waste of time,” he told his teachers. “I’m going to spend the rest of my life playing Xbox, so why do I need to learn all this rubbish?”
One day he hit on a clever plan and sent a pig to school in his place. He dressed it in his school uniform and gave it an old pair of his glasses.
Freddy was not a thin boy, so the uniform fitted rather well.
The pig was very happy at school. It sat in class and it grunted. That was more than Freddy had ever done. The teacher was very pleased.
But when the teacher handed out worksheets, the pig ate his and did a wee on the floor.

Karam was going to like his new school. He was sure of it. He was new to this city. New to this country. He wanted to make friends. And everyone was so nice.
Everyone but Alex.
Alex was not nice. On Karam’s first day, Alex thumped him.
There was blood all over the playground.
“Stay away from Alex,” Paul told Karam. “He used to be nice. Then, about four years ago, he changed. Now he is evil.”

We were on the way to Madrid airport when my little sister Ashley said, “I left my yellow rabbit at the hotel!
“We can’t go back or we’ll miss our plane,” Dad said. “I’ll phone the hotel later.” Ashley sulked.
As soon as we got home, Ashley made Dad call the hotel in Spain. He asked the manager to find Yellow Rabbit and call him back.
“Don’t get your hopes up, Ashley,” Dad said. “But maybe we’ll be lucky.” Ashley hugged her teddy and sobbed for Yellow Rabbit.
Back in the hotel, Maria the cleaner found Yellow Rabbit.

People were running down the street screaming.
“Look out! Look out! Wolfman has escaped!”
The people were right.
Wolfman had broken out of his cage and now he was roaring and rampaging around town. Everyone was rushing to get indoors. They were very afraid.
Outside, Wolfman was ripping up paving stones. He was biting into trees and eating lamp-posts.
It was the most horrible thing ever.

I have a lot of little friends, Who live upon my head.
They jog and jive and jiggle When I am in my bed.
And then, when I am fast asleep, Their wives start laying eggs. Each egg contains a little louse, With lots of little legs.
I saw one down a microscope, His body looked like jelly.
I could even see his poo Working through his belly.

Mum, Harry and Kate were at the book museum.
“These books are very rare and worth a lot of money,” Mum said. “This is going to be great.”
Harry looked round. The museum was full of old glass cases. The books inside were dusty. Harry was bored.
Even the security guard was snoring in the corner.
Then Harry saw a man hang his jacket over the CCTV camera on the wall.
The jacket covered the camera.

I looked up from my book, and saw a bird at my window. All I said was, “Hi there, bird. You know what I’d like? I’d like to be you. I’d like to be able to fly off to any place I liked. That would be so good.”
And he said, “That’s fine with me. Just open the window and I’ll come in. I’ll lie on your bed and read a book. I’ve always wanted to read a book.”
So in he hopped, and off I flew.
