PAYING YOUR BILL
Semester Bills and Notification
All student account and billing information is presented through the Bates Payment Portal. Semester billing notification is sent on or around July 15 for the fall semester and November 15 for the winter semester; notifications are also sent on a monthly basis to individuals with unpaid balances. Please be sure to check your bill each month, as a 1% late fee will be added to bills not paid by the due dates.
Bates College Payment Portal through Flywire
All student account and billing information is presented through the Bates Payment Portal. Through the portal, which is powered by Flywire, Bates students and families can:
• access monthly statements
• see real-time balances
• create customized payment plans
• set up automatic payment from a US checking or savings account
• make payments in international currencies in user’s native language
Bates students should use their Bates credentials to log in to the Bates Payment Portal; parents and other payers will need to establish a new account once their student has added them as an authorized user on the portal.
Monthly Payment Plan
Payment plans enable students and their families to pay their Bates balance in smaller, more affordable payments rather than in a lump sum, and Bates offers flexible semester plans to enable students to pay their semester bill in five-, four-, or three-month installments. There is a $55 nonrefundable fee per semester to enroll in a payment plan.
Fall semester charges will be added to student accounts in mid-July; winter semester charges will be added in midNovember. Families who wish to sign up for a plan before semester charges have been added to the student account may do so by estimating the amount they wish to budget on the payment plan. After the semester charges have been added, the plan owner can modify the amount, if needed, through the payment portal.
Tuition Refund Insurance
Optional tuition refund insurance is available to Bates students and their families through GradGuard. Tuition refund insurance complements Bates’ institutional refund policy and provides coverage for losses incurred if you withdraw from school for a covered medical event. Covered expenses may include tuition, food, and housing, and other eligible education-related expenses (up to policy limits) and families can choose from several different levels of coverage per academic year.
