Christmas and New Year recycling and rubbish collections 2016/17 Happy Christmas and thank you for all you have recycled this year. There will be NO collection on Monday 26 December. If your collection is due on this day, your next collection will be on Monday 2 January. All other collection days will remain the same, even if they fall on a Bank Holiday.

Garden waste and Christmas tree collections

There will be no garden waste collections for 2 weeks from 26 December to 6 January. Normal collections will start again from Monday 9 January.

If we experience extreme bad weather this winter, please check our website and local radio stations for updates on your collections.


Recycling and food waste collections We throw away more rubbish at Christmas time than at any other time of the year. Please remember to include these common Christmas items with the rest of your recycling.

Food recycling bin

Free Christmas tree collections From 9 to 27 January, we will collect your real Christmas tree for free as part of our fortnightly garden waste collection. The trees will be composted. Please ✓ Cut your tree if it is more than 1.2 metres tall so that it will fit in our vehicles ✓ Remove the pot and any decorations ✓ Put it at the edge of your property on your collection day so that our crews can see it easily. Green recycling box

• Paper – greetings cards, gift tags and wrapping paper (white backed, non foil) • Plastic bottles, and pots, tubs and trays used to contain food – including cream pots, ice-cream tubs, fruit and take away trays (no black plastic thanks) • Cans, tins and aerosols – including biscuit and sweet tins • Glass bottles and jars – including mincemeat and cranberry jars • Foil – including mince pie and quiche cases and takeaway trays • Textiles – unwanted Christmas jumpers (in plastic bags to keep dry) • Small electrical items – please put small items in a carrier bag next to your green box for example, broken fairy lights, electronic toys, and toasters.
