As your child gets older you may be faced with all sorts of unfamiliar problems and issues. If you are unsure where to look for information call the Family Information Service. We will endeavour to respond promptly to enquiries and if we are unable to help we will put in touch with people who can. 1 Big Database is a website which holds information about national and local organisations that offer help and support to parents and carers living in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire. This includes:

The Directory has contact details plus a brief description of local and national organisations and groups that provide information/support for families living in Bath & North East Somerset who have a child or young person with any additional need. There is also an events calendar where you can find out what’s going on in the local area and a Blog which will give you up to date information.

Who are we? The Information & Advice Service is part of the Family Information Service and provides individual appointments at a range of venues in your local area. There are also drop-in sessions in some Children’s Centres and visits to existing groups. You can contact the service direct or ask your Health Visitor, Children’s Centre or Family Support Worker to do it for you.

The Service can help you by:Looking at your entitlement to welfare benefits, tax credits, free school meals etc. and helping with claim forms.

Providing you with information to help you to make decisions about your family’s future and give you confidence the confidence to return to work. Information about appropriate registered childcare options. Identify whether there may be any financial help with funding your childcare. Linking you to other organisations that can help you make good lifestyle choices.

The service is available to anyone with children up to the age of 20 (or 25 if they are a young person with additional needs) All enquiries will be dealt with in strict confidence and the advice given will be impartial. To book an appointment yourself, please telephone the Family Information Service or ask one of the professionals mentioned above to do so on your behalf.
