Dream On

Ipride myself on working well under pressure. Or, at least, that’s what I tell myself.

I am a shameless procrastinator and have been for my entire life. My therapist says it’s because I’m a perfectionist. My mom says it’s because I’m lazy. I think it’s open for interpretation.

When my now-husband popped the question on a bright morning next to the pool of my parents’ beach house, I just knew I was up to the challenge. Unlike anything else in my life, I had been planning this forever.

If there are any men reading this, the way I felt is not unique. Most women, for better or worse, spend much of their younger years dreaming about what their walk down the aisle will one day look like. And that amount of dreaming and preparation? Well, it can take a toll when you’re fnally living out the moment.

It makes things too heavy. Too loaded. Too overwhelming.

I felt this tremendous pressure to live up to the visions of my younger self. The ones I had meticulously cut and pasted into scrapbooks, vowing that I would one day bring to life these fantasies taken straight from the pages of magazines like Vogue, Glamour and, of course, inRegister.

Truth is, when the time fnally came, I froze. I was paralyzed with fear that I would choose some color, some fower, some ribbon, that I would regret. The pressure was just too much, and no all-nighter could save me.

I got so in my own head about my wedding and how people would perceive me that one afternoon, about two months out from the big day for my husband and me in Alys Beach, I collapsed on the sofa and told him that I wanted to cancel it all. “It’s too late,” he told me. Stupid, procrastination. I would love for this story to end with me not regretting anything and all my fears being a simple case of nervousness. But, in my role as editor, it is my duty to tell you the truth. And that simply isn’t it.

I regret many things that I chose for my wedding day. If you would like me to list them out for you, please feel free to contact me. For the sake of positivity, I will leave you with vagueness. But while those regrettable decisions might make me grit my teeth a little bit when I look back through my wedding photo gallery, they don’t change the happiness that I felt on that day.

Truth is, it doesn’t matter if everything about your wedding is fawless, timeless and chic. It’s just a party, for goodness sake. What does matter is that you’re marrying the love of your life. Unlike the fowers or the dress or the band, you’re going to be with that person standing across from you at the altar forever. And here’s the good news. You can marry them again and again and again.

So catch me in Las Vegas very soon. I need a do-over.

Love always,

Picture This

One look at this bridal portrait of Allyce Trapp Alexander and you can feel her joy. When the then-bride-to-be teamed up with friend and photographer Eric Garcia of Geauxgarcia Photography, she was determined to capture more than just some cookie-cutter bridal images. Her love for all things royal inspired her to pose sitting on the foor with her arms crossed—á la Princess Diana in her iconic 1990 portraits taken by Patrick Demarchelier. You know the ones. When it comes to anything to do with a wedding, there’s a tendency to play it safe—to stick to the status quo. But when you think outside the box, the results are as beautiful as the sentiment behind them.

HIDDEN GEMS

Engagement rings are more than meets the eye, literally. Hidden diamond details are trending, and they offer grooms the opportunity to add a private detail specially for his bride, as is seen in this two-carat oval ring from Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry. “Hidden halos are designed with a discreet layer of diamonds tucked away beneath the center stone,” explains Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry assistant vice president of marketing Amy Graham Hughes. “This engagement ring style seamlessly provides an accent to the boldness of the center stone while offering a unique and unexpected sparkle.”

VALLEY GIRLS

State of the Art

For couples looking for something a little different when it comes to their wedding registry, Ann Connelly Fine Art offers art registries for brides- and grooms-to-be. Since original artwork is one of a kind, couples registered at the gallery have a fund to which family and friends can contribute monetarily. From there, the team at Ann Connelly helps newlyweds navigate the process of purchasing a piece together. “They are starting a life together and navigating that new life and what they want,” explains gallery co-director Chelsea Norris. “It’s really special to see couples come together and choose their first piece of art.”

Small and simple lily of the valley bouquets are not new, dating all the way back to Victorian weddings, but they are trending. The sought-after bloom is among the most delicate and expensive flowers used in bridal bouquets. Typically flown in from Holland, lily of the valley symbolizes purity and rebirth— ideal for a bride on her wedding day. And despite the classic bloom’s price point and fragility, we don’t see it leaving the hands of brides anytime soon.

Lasting LEGACY

Maci Gauthier Frazier always adored the wedding dress worn by her grandmother, Evelyn Gauthier, back in 1956 and later by her aunt, Fran Gauthier, in the 1990s. “I remember fawning over the bridal portraits hanging in my grandmother’s house, and I always planned to wear it for my bridal portraits, even after her passing in 2020,” Frazier says. Although Frazier chose a more modern gown for her wedding day, she notes the importance of honoring and preserving the past, especially when it comes to family. “Who we choose to marry, along with the many decisions leading up to that point, has so much to do with who raised us and instilled the morals and values that we look for in a partner,” she explains. “You wouldn’t be who you are without them.”

TWO WEDDING GOWN STYLES THAT ARE AT THE TOP OF BRIDES’ MINDS

Two Looks in One

hether it’s a removable topper or an overskirt, brides are looking for dresses that have a little versatility. “Brides want to be able to have multiple looks for different parts of their wedding days,” I Do Bridal Couture owner Ramsey Sims says. This allows brides to be modest for their ceremonies and change it up for the reception to something a little more fun without having to change out of their gowns completely.

Ask the Experts

GOT GOWN QUESTIONS?

THESE LOCAL PROFESSIONALS HAVE ANSWERS.

How do you suggest brides balance trends with timelessness?

Nikki Vu: It’s all about incorporating classic elements with trendy touches, such as a statement veil or jewelry. The most current trend is sleek, minimal, clean and chic styles. Most of our brides want their dress to feel classic and timeless but with a modern twist. You do not have to incorporate all the trends for your wedding day, especially in your dress. I always remind my brides to wear the dress that feels the most unique to their personal style and makes them feel beautiful and confdent. I highly recommend trusting your personal style and preferences rather than feeling pressured to follow or incorporate every trend.

Who should accompany a bride to her appointment?

Marie Gilley: A bride should limit the number of people she brings to an appointment to only immediate family, such as the mother of the bride and groom or someone whose opinion you value. The more guests you bring, the more opinions you will have, causing you to get confused. You must remember it is your dress and the gown that makes you feel beautiful on your special day.

What is the most important thing for brides to keep in mind when they are working on a custom wedding day look?

Pedram Taheri: I always tell brides to enjoy the journey to your big day, trust the process and be openminded about the unique creation we have been bringing to life together. Every girl has dreamed of their wedding day, so close your eyes and see yourself walking down the aisle. What do you see yourself wearing? We all dream, and we at Pedram Couture make that dream into a reality.

What is your advice to an indecisive bride?

Sarah Jeansone Wampler: We remind our brides to focus on what’s important: fnding a gown that represents their best self. Many gowns can accomplish this, but we truly believe that the best one will separate itself from the rest and rise to the top in the bride’s mind. Our job is to recognize when this happens and help guide her decision. Don’t stress! It’s easy.

Ladies Who Lunch

AVERY RICHARDSON DERANGER’S BRIDAL LUNCHEON BROUGHT TOGETHER FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR AN AFTERNOON OF CELEBRATION

Weekend weddings often transform into a bustling whirlwind of activities, leaving little opportunity to pause and savor the moments with cherished friends and family. To kick off Avery Richardson Deranger’s wedding weekend, her mother and grandmother decided a bridal luncheon would be the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Held at the New Orleans Country Club, Deranger says it was a

great change of scenery for the whole group, which included her mother, soon-to-be mother-in-law, grandmother, great aunts, old family friends, bridesmaids, and a few of the bridesmaids’ mothers.

“We had a private shuttle with a driver bring us from Baton Rouge and back after the lunch,” she says. “It was so great to have that extra time to talk, drink and laugh with some of my favorite women. We just had the best time on that bus, and it was like an extended party!”

Her mother, Wendy Richardson, and grandmother, Linda Dalton,

were responsible for throwing the luncheon, and Deranger’s close bond with Dalton made the party that much more meaningful. “She’s my only living grandparent, and having her alongside me during the wedding planning process just meant so much, especially because she’s very fashion-forward,” Deranger says.

Upon arrival at the New Orleans Country Club, the ladies were directed to the bar next to the luncheon room, where celebratory cocktails awaited them. Having her wedding photographer in attendance allowed for special memories

to be captured, like speeches given and genuine conversation happening during the luncheon, as well as staged photos with guests during the cocktail hour.

Cathy Anderson, a harpist who plays at The Ritz Carlton in New Orleans, set the mood with light background music while they ate. After lunch, the bridal party participated in the traditional cake pull, where each girl grabbed a ribbon and pulled out a different charm each with a different meaning, like a wedding ring symbolizing you’re the next to get hitched, meant to wish them good luck in their future endeavors.

Deranger recommends having a girl’s day like this to celebrate the women who have done so much for you throughout the long season of pre-wedding planning and events. “It was all so special to me, and it was something I didn’t have to worry or stress about, which was a welcomed distraction,” she says.

WarmWelcome

INSTEAD OF A TRADITIONAL REHEARSAL DINNER, ALLISON KAMP AND RICHARD PELLMAN HOSTED GUESTS FOR A PRE-WEDDING

CELEBRATION AT JUBANS

ith guests converging on Baton Rouge from around the country and the world, bride Allison Kamp and groom Richard Pellman didn’t think a traditional rehearsal dinner with just the wedding party seemed right.

Wanting to open the invitation to all of their friends and family, they opted for a welcome party at Jubans.

“They wanted that classic Louisiana look,” event designer Tiffany Pilgrim of August Events says. “The Hallelujah Bar and attached patio was the perfect option.”

With orders to “surprise us” from the couple and their families, Pilgrim and her team took to transforming the space, using the event’s date, April 28, as inspiration for the vibrant, spring-inspired color palette.

Starting from the statement blue velvet linens from Nüage Designs, the bright fower arrangements were designed by Forage Floral Design utilizing some locally grown blooms. Bold was the directive from the August Events team, and Forage’s Meredith Cooper delivered with modern arrangements that brought life to the space.

Thanks to pleasant springtime temperatures, the party was able to easily flow from inside to outside.

Groom Richard Pellman and bride Allison Kamp John Gray and his jazz trio were the finishing touch on this Louisiana- inspired party. Special ice cubes are just one of the ways that Jubans makes their old fashioneds stand out from the rest. The drinks were served to guests upon arrival at the event.
inRegister Weddings 2024-2025 31 THE PARTIES

Another detail that set the tone for the event was live music by John Gray and his jazz trio.

“We all knew we wanted live music,” Pilgrim explains. “John’s swag perfectly matched what we were going for with this event.”

And with old fashioneds fowing and a variety of passed food and buffet stations, the event was a lighthearted way to kick off a weekend full of wedding celebrations.

“Everything went off perfectly,” Pilgrim says. “It was just a great event.”

THE DETAILS

All the Small Things

EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT WEDDING DAY FLAT LAYS

When it comes to weddings, it’s all in the details.

From the invitation suite to the heirloom keepsakes to the personalized favors, no aspect goes untouched. And if you’re going to spend all that time curating, you may as well document it. Right?

“Everything is about those Instagrammable moments,” says wedding and event designer Angela DiVincenti Babin of Angela Marie Events. “You’re documenting your story, and all of those details that are special to you are part of that.”

Wedding fat lays, aka styled arrangements of objects designed for an overhead photo, have become increasingly popular in recent years, with brides wanting to capture all of the details that went into their big days. But with these delicately styled scenes being captured amidst wedding day chaos, this is a detail best planned for ahead of time.

Read on for inspiration and advice from Babin for executing a fawless fat lay.

inRegister Weddings 2024-2025 35

Talk to your florist ahead of time to get blooms set aside for a flat lay.

Rather than the box the ring came in from the jeweler, investing in one that matches the flat lay helps create a special backdrop for the engagement ring and wedding band.

Who, What, Where, When of Flat Lays

WHO

Decide who will be assembling the flat lay on the wedding day. “Most of the time, your photographer is in charge of the flat lay, but with me, I do them myself,” Babin notes. “That’s a conversation you want to have in advance so there’s no confusion on the big day.”

WHAT

Babin suggests keeping a box throughout your entire wedding season where you can put things from various party invitations to heirlooms to wax seals. “People think about the wedding invitation suite, but with a lot of couples, there is so much more than that from all of the parties they have had as an engaged couple,” Babin says. “You want to bring those, and also remember to have an addressed envelope to go with your wedding invitation suite.” Then there’s the flowers. Babin says to have a conversation during the planning stages with your florist. Make sure they know which blooms you would like to see in your flat lay, and have them factor that into the floral budget. Also ensure that someone—whether your wedding planner, your florist or a member of the wedding party—knows to get those flowers to your photographer for the flat lay photos.

This one is tricky. Since these are often done in the space that the bride is getting ready in, there isn’t always an ideal location. Photographers will be looking for well-lit spaces, preferably with natural light, like near a window.

WHEN

Babin says to plan for this to take about an hour, depending on how many different details and shots you want. This will happen during the getting ready portion of the day, so plan for your photographer to be busy capturing flat lays while nothing else photo-worthy is likely to be happening.

Often overlooked, doing a standalone scene for the groom allows his details to shine, too.

Rather than feminine flowers, opt for elements like hand-dyed ribbon to tie the flat lay back to the wedding color scheme.

Have the groom select some heirloom pieces that are sentimental for him.

WEDDING CONTENT CREATORS GIVE A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE OF THE BIG DAY

lanning a wedding takes a village of vendors to ensure that getting hitched goes off without a hitch.

While couples prep and sweat all the details for their big day, what happens when the wedding whirlwind overshadows small moments? Luckily, wedding content creators have emerged equipped to document all those memories that might otherwise have been missed during the exciting but hectic day.

Yes, wedding content creators are a thing, and you may see one

wielding an iPhone at the next ceremony you attend. From getting ready to the couple’s exit, these vendors capture it all and digitally deliver content to the happy couple as soon as the morning after the wedding day.

Hiring a wedding content creator wasn’t at the top of Emily Hightower McCollam’s musthave list when wedding planning. However, after being approached by Julie Milne, a photographer just starting her event content creation venture, McCollam decided to hire Milne’s Soirée Social in place of a traditional videographer.

McCollam recalls waking up the morning after her wedding to a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes snippets in a convenient online folder that could be easily shared and emailed to friends and family members. Her mother even played the videos for her grandmother, who couldn’t make the wedding.

McCollam says she received about 300 clips of things she missed while in her bridal blur.

“After it was all said and done, my family and I were like ‘Oh my gosh, we’re so glad that she was there,’” McCollam says. “We got to relive it the next day. I would recommend

it to anybody even if you do have a videographer. It just provides a different angle of looking at your wedding as opposed to waiting three to six months and having it be a structured video. It’s different than just having a videographer there.”

Milne began dabbling in event content creation after getting encouragement from a fellow photographer. So far, she has captured just over a dozen weddings for couples wanting an unplugged ceremony or those looking to get memories back almost instantly.

Milne is all about going undetected on the wedding day, capturing all the little memories along the way. However, she is also ready to coordinate some time for a fun TikTok trend.

Alexis Fury entered the business after seeing event content creators pop up everywhere while living in the Northeast. After moving to the South, she realized the trend hadn’t quite made it here yet. In January, she started Day of Bestie, a wedding and event content service.

Because wedding content creation is a fairly new idea in the wedding world, both Milne and Fury have seen plenty of discourse about their current ventures. Some feel that it’s an unnecessary add-on while photographers and videographers fear they can get in the way. But Milne and Fury have coordinated with and worked alongside other wedding vendors to ensure that everything goes smoothly on a wedding day.

“We’re not there to replace your professional photos or videos because those are classic, timeless pieces that you’ll keep forever in your albums and whatnot,” Fury says. “We’re just there to enhance the day and work together with the photographers and videographers. We’re not trying to make their job harder.”

Milne agrees.

“It really is about just knowing that you’re there for a couple,” she says. “We’re all there to make sure that the couples have a magical day, and we can all beneft from each other.”

Prep Work

A TIMELINE FOR BRIDAL BEAUTY, FROM MAKEUP TRIALS TO FILLER

Every bride wants to look fawless on her wedding day. But perfection doesn’t come without a little prep work.

Just like every other wedding day detail—from the venue design to the fowers to the gown—requires months of planning, so too does bridal beauty. According to certifed makeup artist Paige Jeansonne, makeup and skin prep should begin at least three months prior, though, she notes, six full months in advance is ideal.

But where is a bride to start?

With the help of Jeansonne and medically trained and licensed aesthetician Candace Chapman of Jane Olsen Cosmetics, we assembled a timeline for bridal beauty prep. Read on for the step-by-step guide.

ADLER & DASSO WEDDING/ CAROLYNN SEIBERT PHOTOGRAPHY inRegister Weddings 2024-2025 44 THE DETAILS

1 YEAR OUT

Book your makeup. The sooner the better. Jeansonne gets bridal makeup on the books sometimes more than a year in advance. As soon as you know the date and location of your wedding, she suggests getting hair and makeup arranged.

Insider Tip: Have your makeup trial done before an engagement party, engagement photos or your bridal portraits. That way, the full face of makeup doesn’t go to waste.

6 MONTHS OUT

Have a skin consultation. Because all skin is different, Chapman recommends scheduling a consultation with an aesthetician to create a customized plan of action. While there are plenty of options for those who only have a short timeline, if you struggle with acne or skin texture, Chapman suggests starting early so the skin has more time to heal from intensive treatments.

3 MONTHS OUT

Finish skin preparation. One treatment Jeansonne always recommends to brides is dermaplaning, which removes all peach fuzz and dead skin from the face, allowing for the perfect application of foundation, resulting in silky smooth skin.

2 MONTHS OUT

Filler. Because filler can take a few weeks to fully integrate into the face, Chapman advises

getting it two months prior. Then, if you feel that you need a little more at one month prior, you have time to get a touch-up.

1 MONTH OUT

Stop skin prep treatments. Start teeth whitening. If you’ve never used retinol, now is not the time to start. And if you are using a retinol, Jeansonne recommends stopping three weeks before the wedding, unless it’s being used for breakouts. If you’ve never gotten your eyebrows waxed, don’t start now, either. Jeansonne has seen brides make this mistake and end up with dry spots and bumps around the brows.

If you can’t get professional whitening done by a dentist, Jeansonne suggests using Crest whitening strips for one hour once a week in the month leading up to your wedding.

1-2 WEEKS OUT

Brows done. For those who do regularly get their eyebrows waxed, one week prior is the optimal time to get this done. If your skin is on the sensitive side, allow for plenty of rest time by waxing two weeks prior.

DAY BEFORE REHEARSAL DINNER

Manicure. Pedicure. Spray tan. While some things are best done on your own to save money, Jeansonne notes that self-tanning is not one of those things. “It’s your wedding day, so take that extra time and money and get a professional spray tan,” she says. “If you’re getting married on a Saturday, get the spray tan on Thursday.”

WEDDING DAY

CO2Lift Pro carboxy treatment mask. For that gorgeous glow, Chapman always tells her brides to use this at-home face mask on the day of the wedding. “It gives your skin that healthy, plump vibrancy that everyone wants, and it makes your skin the perfect foundation for makeup,” she notes.

THE VIBRANT DESTINATION WEDDING OF JAIME GLAS AND HUNTER ODOM

Inspired by groom Hunter Odom’s annual family trips to Cozumel, Mexico, he and the Queen of Sparkles herself, Jaime Glas, decided to tie the knot in a colorful multi-day celebration bringing friends and family together for a hot July getaway.

“Five years ago, I was invited on my frst vacation with his family, and after stepping foot on the island—and jumping in the sea—I knew it was where we would be married one day,” Jaime says. “From that trip, we dreamt of bringing all of our friends and family back to paradise.”

With plenty of the color and sparkle that she is known for, the wedding celebrations invited Hunter and Jaime’s guests into the vibrant world that they have forged together. “We worked to bring all of our favorite parts of Cozumel and traditions we’ve made over the years to our guests in the most colorful way possible,” Jaime says.

Read on for a day-by-day account of the unforgettable festivities.

inRegister Weddings 2024-2025 49

To start the wedding weekend off strong, guests embarked on a sightseeing sunset cruise around the island. After arriving at the InterContinental Presidente Cozumel Resort Spa, aka El Presidente, and receiving guest gift baskets, everyone was brought to the boat dock, where three large catamarans awaited. The group set sail to one of Jaime and Hunter’s favorite places: El Cielo, a tiny island off the southwest coast only accessible by boat. “El Cielo translates to heaven,” Jaime says, “and it really does look like heaven.”

The boats stayed close together, allowing everyone to enjoy the sound of the acoustic guitar playing from one of the catamarans. “It was such a gorgeous sunset that day,” Jaime recalls.

Her favorite memory from the cruise was sharing a dance with her brother, her only sibling, who is just 16 months older than her. “I remember pausing and thinking that it was a really special moment,” she says.

Jaime wore a vintage 1980s dress bought on Etsy years before. “I got the dress soon after I met Hunter, and I got it with him in mind because it has sailboat motifs on it, and he loves sailing,” she says. “I also thought that it would be great for a wedding party in a tropical place.”

Rather than having a formal bridal luncheon, Jaime opted for a more casual, catered pool party with brunch from local breakfast spot Jolly. “They have the best avocado toast in the world,” Jaime explains, noting that the dish is a musthave every time she visits. “And the chef at Jolly even came to the wedding.”

Hunter held a similar party with his groomsmen at a bar near the hotel, and then everyone headed back to get ready for the long night of festivities ahead.

Jaime’s rehearsal dress, much like the rest of her wedding, was bright and straight from her imagination. “I saw the dress in gold at her atelier and asked if it could be made in rainbow,” Jaime says of the custom Nardos mini dress.

After the wedding party fnished the rehearsal at the church, they joined guests for a cocktail hour and dinner at Buccanos, which Hunter and Jaime consider to be the best restaurant in town. With colorful lights hanging in the palm trees, foral-flled rainbow tablescapes and more, the night did not lose its light.

The welcome party was held immediately after at the couple’s favorite place to celebrate, El Palomar, an old house converted into a bar with a large patio wrapping around. Jaime, Hunter and their wedding guests danced the night away with giant, rainbow light-up letters in the background. “It was so hot, but that also had to do with how much everyone was dancing,” Jaime says.

While there hadn’t been any rain on the radar for their wedding day, in a coastal city like Cozumel, isolated storms are inevitable.

Thanks to her well-connected wedding planners, the bus carrying Jaime got special permission to pull up to the church’s front doors. “The streets were basically fooding, and I had to take my shoes off to run inside,” Jaime recalls. “But when we came out of the ceremony, the clouds were cleared with the sun shining, and there was a rainbow!” The couple kept four vials of rainwater from that special day to baptize their future children with.

The wedding ceremony was held in the oldest church in Cozumel, with forescent forals from foor to ceiling. The design was hand-drawn by Jaime, specifcally noting that the rainbow fowers be installed following ROYGBIV order. After the ceremony, the wedding party took to the streets for the post-ceremony parade flled with colored smoke bombs and the tunes of a mariachi band.

At the reception, Jaime changed into a short version of her custom Nardos wedding dress to cool off before performing a choreographed frst dance with Hunter. Then guests enjoyed another evening full of dancing, drinking and celebrating the bright love of Jaime and Hunter.

“I fell in love with Hunter around the same time I fell in love with Cozumel,” Jaime says. “In a way, it’s a place that symbolizes our love for each other. Our love is colorful, vibrant, passionate and sincere. The best way to share that with our friends and family was to have them right there with us on our special day.”

FROM ITALY TO GREECE, ELOPEMENTS OFFER COUPLES A CHANGE OF SCENERY FOR THEIR SPECIAL DAY

BY BRE PIZZOLATO

Eloping may elicit visions of a hastily arranged rendezvous or late-night ceremony with an Elvis impersonator as an offciant. At least that’s what my grandmother envisioned when I told her we had scrapped our plans for a 200-person wedding and instead would say “I do” in front of 20 guests on the side of a mountain. The horror in her extended silence was palpable despite my repeated assurances that eloping “is a thing these days.”

In 2022, a national survey by Helzberg Diamonds found that 62% of engaged couples were open to considering an elopement-style wedding. In the context of modern weddings, eloping has shed its taboo connotations, becoming a popular option for couples interested in a ceremony that is smaller or even adventurous. “People are craving doing something unique and a bit more simplistic when it comes to their weddings,” says Hannah Sherman, a luxury elopement specialist with Dune Travel Group. “Plus, why not combine your

wedding with your honeymoon and have it be even better?”

Sherman plans custom itineraries for couples looking to elope and honeymoon around the globe. “Italy would be my favorite pick, hands down,” she says. After all, it’s the most romantic country in the world. But before you start packing your bags, it’s important to consider the legalities and logistics of a destination elopement.

“Some countries require you to be in the country or city for almost a week pre-ceremony for an appointment at the consulate,”

Sherman says. Couples also need to consider jet lag, coordinating with vendors who may or may not speak English, and accommodations for guests, no matter how few. Last but certainly not least is the dress. How will all of that fabric ft in a carry-on?

“Sometimes the fight attendants are very nice and will let you hang the dress in the special compartment with their uniforms, but I wouldn’t count on it,” Sherman says.

But just like a traditional wedding, once all of the details are sorted and the day arrives, it’s sure to be a good time.

Ready to run away together?

Here

are Sherman’s top three destinations for eloping.

Tuscany, Italy

Eloping in the Tuscan countryside is as romantic as it is picturesque. The city’s eternal charm and idyllic olive groves, vineyards and fields of sunflowers offer the perfect backdrop for saying “I do.” Sherman says you will need to plan ahead for this destination. Spring and fall are the best times to visit because of the temperate weather, but they are also the busiest.

Santorini is ideal for outdoor lovers, with its white sand beaches and rugged hillside cliffs. Lake Como, Italy

This upscale resort area is known for its dramatic views set among the foothills of the Alps, which remain snow-dusted for most of the year. Perfect for couples who want to experience the very best of Italy, Lake Como is complete with stunning villas, garden follies and ferries, all situated just an hour away from Milan.

SARAH BETH SAFFELL AND HAYDEN FRONTERHOUSE TIE THE KNOT WITH A ROMANTIC BATON ROUGE WEDDING DAY

Rather than take time away from their wedding, Sarah Beth and Hayden opted to take formal portraits together at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden a few months after their big day. Sarah Beth says it was a fun opportunity to wear her custom Monique Lhuillier gown from I Do Bridal Couture one more time.

inRegister Weddings 2024-2025 59 THE COVER COUPLE

“On our wedding day, it turned out to be raining,” Sarah Beth recalls. “The original plan was to have the flowers that made up the arch lining the entry. But with the arch inside the venue space, you could see it all night. It ended up being better than I ever imagined.”

It just felt right,” says Sarah Beth Saffell Fronterhouse about her decision to host her wedding to fancé Hayden Fronterhouse in her hometown of Baton Rouge.

The pair met in Texas and are residents of Dallas. But, for some reason, Baton Rouge kept calling Sarah Beth home.

She considered booking in Dallas. And then California. But she just couldn’t commit.

“There’s something sentimental about getting married in the town you grew up in,” she says. “Baton Rouge was just right.”

And when you know you know.

Starting with a frst date that saw Hayden fy in from Austin to Dallas to take Sarah Beth out for dinner and followed by three months of long-distance dating, Sarah Beth says their relationship progressed in a natural way that, again, “just felt right.” After nine months together, Hayden popped the question to Sarah Beth on February 25, 2023, at Dallas Hunting & Fishing Club.

“The photographer totally missed the moment,” Sarah Beth says with a laugh, recalling the proposal that happened on a cold night around an open fre. “But it was sweet and very low-key.”

Once Sarah Beth decided on Baton Rouge for their wedding day, she knew Capitol Park Museum was the only venue for her and Hayden. December 16 was one of only two open dates. So Sarah Beth said “yes” to a winter wedding, dashing the dreams she had of summer nuptials in favor of dodging hurricane season. Unwilling to scratch her vision of a colorful wedding day, though, she enlisted the help of August Events.

Event designers Tiffany Pilgrim and Maranda Cardinale searched alongside Sarah Beth for nearly six months to

fnd the perfect metallic chinoiserie wallpaper to be applied to custom-built installations behind both the band and bars.

“The whole color palette came from the wallpaper,” Pilgrim says. “Dusty blues. Whites. Pinks. And we really fought for that metallic fnish. We wanted it to really stand out.”

From there, Root Floral Design used overfowing foral installations of roses, blue delphinium, hydrangeas and plenty of greenery to transform the “concrete jungle” of the Capitol Park Museum into the romantic, dreamlike vision that Sarah Beth had for her wedding day.

“Sarah Beth had a really strong point of view in the best way,” Pilgrim says. “The result is a wedding that felt really unique, special and personal to her and Hayden.”

And after months of planning, that’s what every bride hopes for.

“Wedding planning can be so stressful,” Sarah Beth says. “But in the end, so many things ended up being better than I even imagined they would be. It was the perfect start to our life together.”

inRegister Weddings 2024-2025 60 THE COVER COUPLE

“I always said I wouldn’t get married there because it doesn’t have a center aisle,” Sarah Beth says of First Presbyterian Church, which she attended throughout her childhood. “But then I had someone explain it to me that you walk in on one side and walk out on the other, symbolizing you walking in unmarried and walking out starting a new life together. I was sold after that.” Sarah Beth and her mother had the church change their Christmas decorations for the season, though, swapping out red ribbon for white to better coincide with Sarah Beth’s wedding vision.

Hear from Him & Her

What is your favorite things about one another?

H: My favorite thing about Sarah Beth is her personalty: sweet, loving caring and always positive and fun. And her faith.

SB: My favorite thing about Hayden is his kindness, patience, humility and compassion. I also love his extremely witty sense of humor. And his hair!

How did you know he/she was the one?

H & SB: It was clear from the beginning that we had the same values. Our relationship has always been so lighthearted, fun and easy, but there is also a depth we share with our faith and worldview.

What is one detail that sticks out when you think back on your wedding day?

SB: It’s hard to choose, but the metallic chinoiserie wallpaper that we used in the stage and bar backdrops was my favorite detail. That was the foundation of our design plan and it brought a sense of romance and warmth to the venue. The floral trees were another detail that was part of my vision from the beginning. I love how they broke up the space and drew the eye up.

Metallic chinoiserie wallpaper found on Etsy was the foundation of the color scheme for the wedding. Applied to custom builds by See-Hear Productions, the wallpaper was the centerpiece.

Sarah Beth chose photographer Stephania Campos for the unique perspective that she brings to weddings. “She started in fashion photography, and I just loved her portfolio,” Sarah Beth says. “Her images feel feminine and whimsical, and just make you feel like you’re there.”

Some moments, like this special one of the newlyweds enjoying late-night fries and milkshakes, were captured via Polaroid for a vintage look.

Did you disagree on anything during the planning process?

H & SB: There were really no disagreements. We were pretty laid back about the planning process.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to engaged couples?

SB: A great wedding planner can make all the difference and help you stay focused on your vision throughout the processes when there are so many big and small decision to make.

The couple met in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 2021, while both living in Nashville, Tennessee at the time, but their paths had yet to cross. Kacy is a graduate of both Auburn University and Belmont University and Michael is a graduate of the University of Tennessee. They currently reside in Nashville, Tennessee. Kacy works for HCA Healthcare, and Michael works for Dell Technologies. Their wedding ceremony and reception will be held at the historic Nashville Public Library in downtown Nashville on May 18, 2024. They cannot wait to bring some Louisiana flare to Tennessee as they celebrate with friends and family!

Daniele Renee Cavalier & Coleman Michalka Glas

While Danielle was graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Louisiana State University and moving out of her hometown of Baton Rouge, Coleman was finishing his master’s degree in real estate at the University of Florida and returning to his hometown of Dallas. They both landed in Dallas in 2018. After many failed attempts by friends, the couple finally met at a happy hour in 2019.

As time passed, they started traveling the world together—literally! From Louisiana to Las Vegas. Austin to Miami. Mexico to Spain. They went everywhere.

After three years of building a life together, all while raising their new pup Henry, the pair got engaged in Charleston, South Carolina, while celebrating their third anniversary. They are elated to be getting married in New Orleans in June 2024.

Wilfred & Sharon Hebert

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

June 1, 1974

50 YEARS MARRIED

Wilfred and Sharon Hebert are happy to announce their 50th wedding anniversary! The couple have known each other since elementary school in the small town of Oscar, Louisiana. They began dating in high school and have only looked forward to their life together ever since.

The couple has stayed together and grown together through multiple military assignments in the Army (both active duty and reserve) where Wilfred served as a master sergeant. He also had a long, dedicated career with federal OSHA here in Baton Rouge. Sharon began her career at Ochsner clinic and progressed to her final employment with Pennington Biomedical as the Human Resources Director, a position she loved and took great pride in fulfilling. Though they enjoyed their careers, both are now happily retired. We, their daughters, are incredibly proud of them and the lives they have lived, but we are mostly grateful for the family they created for us. Anyone who has ever known them has loved them, as do we.

THE HONEYMOON

Mon Amour

oneymoons are often remembered by a series of selfes and the occasional photo taken by a waiter or polite passerby. But thanks to a gift from groom Hayden Pizzolato’s sister Madison Montgomery, Mandi and Hayden’s Paris honeymoon memories were documented professionally. “The experience itself was such a fun memory,” Mandi says of the shoot with The Paris Photographer. “The photographer was basically a tour guide, too. When our frst location was too crowded, he knew the streets to go to that would have great views and told us about Paris history along the way. We went straight to the airport after taking these photos, and it was the perfect note to leave Paris on.”

Sister, Sister

Sharing the spotlight on your big day? The mere suggestion is enough to send some brides into orbit. Yet, for the Kennon sisters, it was a dream come true. Melanie Kennon McGavern and Suzanne Kennon Hughes happily shared their special day on October 10, 1992, as featured in the January 1993 issue of inRegister

The two were engaged around the same time, and their parents, Bob and Suzanne Kennon, wondered amongst themselves how they would handle an October wedding followed by another in February. Not to mention that their eldest daughter, Genie, was expecting their frst granddaughter that November.

Then came the phone call. “Within minutes after

Melanie called to share her news with Suzanne, Suzanne called her parents and said she and Denny wanted to share their wedding date with Melanie and Ted,” the article states. Suzanne had already booked the church and country club and selected the bridesmaids’ dresses. For Melanie, it was ideal because “you know, Suzanne has excellent taste,” she told inRegister. With three sixpences each, the brides said “I do” at First Presbyterian Church before celebrating with friends and family from 18 states and England at the Baton Rouge Country Club.

One bride’s nightmare is another’s perfect day. There’s no right or wrong way to celebrate love, and one thing we can all agree on is that every bride deserves the day of their dreams. Trends come and go. It’s the memories made, and love shared, that last a lifetime.
