GOMACO CO-FOUNDER PASSES AWAY AT 83
Gary L. Godbersen, GOMACO’s President, CEO, and co-founder passed away on January 17, 2023, at age 83. In 1965, Godbersen, alongside his father, founded Godbersen Manufacturing Company (GOMACO) in Ida Grove, Iowa, to manufacture bridge deck finishing machines. GOMACO has since grown to manufacture a full line of concrete paving equipment. Godbersen was recognized throughout his career for contributions to the industry, including as an inaugural inductee into the Construction Equipment Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions to the construction equipment industry.
Yanmar Ce And Asv Form Yanmar Compact Equipment North America
Yanmar Compact Equipment North America (YCENA), encompassing the Yanmar Compact Equipment and ASV brands, has finalized its status as a single entity. This milestone comes three years after the Yanmar Group acquired ASV. Now, the Yanmar Compact Equipment division in North America and ASV have officially joined to become YCENA.
Attendance Surges At World Of Concrete
World of Concrete has concluded its 49th annual event. The trade show had 48,009 registered professionals, heavy foot traffic on the show floor, and over 120 countries in attendance. The show covered over 587,000 net square feet, with both indoor and outdoor spaces full of product displays, demonstrations, and competitions.
2023 Show Is Set To Impress
CONEXPO-CON/AGG always awes with its size, and the largest trade show in North America will be bigger than ever this year.
Sustainability in construction is a major theme for exhibitors. Many will feature new developments in electric equipment, alternative fuels like hydrogen, and other technology that makes machines more efficient and reduces the carbon footprint of construction activities.
CONEXPO is always a hotbed of brand-new launches and exciting updates from major manufacturers, and this show will be no different. Here is a snapshot of what some exhibitors have planned.
1. KOMATSU
Komatsu will feature equipment, technology, and service solutions that will demonstrate how its machines and solutions can help contractors optimize fleet capabilities, extend the life and improve the value of machines, operate with safety as a priority, and reduce employee downtime.
Machines on display in the Komatsu booth will include the PC210E electric excavator, the PC900LC excavator, and an HB365LC-3 hybrid excavator – all with the Smart Construction retrofit installed. Addition- ally, Komatsu will show the D71PXi-24 intelligent dozer, the HD465-8 mechanical haul truck, a PC360iLC-11 intelligent excavator, and more.
2. DEVELON DEVELON, formerly Doosan Infracore North America, will share more details about its new look and will display new machines, the Transparent Bucket for wheel loaders, a battery-powered engine, and the company’s new dozer line.
DEVELON will also feature the Concept-X smart control solution,
2an autonomous work site concept that can incorporate a range of technology and operate equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, and articulated dump trucks without human intervention. Also on display will be DEVELON’s new Smart X-Care fleet management service and the topography-scanning Concept-X Xite Cloud drone.
3. LIUGONG NORTH AMERICA
A total of 19 machines including two new battery-electric machines, most notably the 856H-E wheel loader, will be in the LiuGong North America booth. The display will cover six product lines and include new technological elements throughout most machines.
Other new products include a broad range of excavators such as the 9015FCR, 9051FZTS, 9057FZTS, and 995F; the 6612E roller; and the Dressta TD-16N and TD25M dozers.
4. K.A. GROUP
In K.A. Group’s booth, led by K-Tec, Case IH has provided tractor power-units that are paired with optimally sized scrapers. K-Tec’s 1228 Train scraper will be positioned behind the Case IH 555 wheeled tractor.
A variety of OEMs are providing ADTs ranging from 30 to 50 tons to show K-Tec ADT scraper hauler integrations. These will pair with K-Tec’s 1228ADT, 1237ADT, and 1243ADT. K-Tec’s EJB4X Ejector Body will be fitted on the back of a Volvo A45G. An earthmoving implements zone will show a variety of complementary attachments including a newly designed Land Leveler.

5. HYUNDAI CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AMERICAS
CONEXPO will mark the first appearance of the HS120V skid-steer loader and HT100V compact track loader, representing Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas’ re-entry into these compact categories. A range of new and upcoming machine models will be shown, including three international design award-winning compact excavators – the HX35AZ, HX40A, and HX48AZ. Fullsized machines will include the new HL985A, the company’s largest capacity loader. Two alternative-powered working prototype excavators will be shown: the HW155H is a prototype wheeled excavator powered by a hydrogen fuel cell engine. The prototype R19E is an electric-powered compact excavator.
6. JOHN DEERE CONSTRUCTION & FORESTRY AND WIRTGEN GROUP
John Deere is going big at CONEXPO with its largest booth ever. Wirtgen will join John Deere for the show, which will feature 36 world premieres of brand-new equipment. They will display more than 68 machines, including six machines that feature SmartGrade control functionality. Wirtgen Group machines will be equipped with the latest technologies such as: Wirtgen Performance Tracker, AutoPilot 2.0, 3D Paving, Smart Compact, and SPECTIVE CONNECT. Nine compact construction machines will include skid-steer loaders, CTLs, compact excavators, and compact wheel loaders. John Deere will also have nine electric or hybrid electric machines on display.
1. ROKBAK
Rokbak is making its first visit to a North American trade show and will bring two of its haulers and a team of experts along. The Scotland-based manufacturer will have its RA30 and RA40 articulated haulers on display. Product experts will be on hand in the booth, shared with Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Penta, to discuss the technical capabilities and key aspects of the haulers.
2. VF VENIERI
VF Venieri’s unique multifunctional articulated loader backhoe, the VF8.23G and VF10.23E, both of which are powered by Deutz Tier 4 Final engines, will be on display for visitors to CONEXPO. The company will also show loader backhoe and telescopic front boom compact machines powered by Kubota engines. The entire Venieri range is equipped with Bosch-Rexroth transmissions, Tier 4 Final powerplants, and heavy-duty axles. Venieri machines feature high-flow, high-pressure hydrostatic transmissions, allowing them to handle multiple attachments, such as asphalt planers.
3. BOBCAT COMPANY
Bobcat Company has gone all-in on technology in recent years, and its display will show that off in a big way. Attendees can see the T7X all-electric compact track loader, as well as the current fleet of battery-electric excavators: E10e, E19e, and E32e. Digital innovations and concepts will also be on display, including Bobcat’s excavators with intelligent control, operator vision technology (also known as TOLED display), MaxControl remote operation, Machine IQ, Features on Demand, and more.
Several recently launched products, such as Bobcat’s most powerful loaders, the T86 compact track loader and S86 skid-steer loader with super-flow, and its most compact telehandler, the TL519, will be available for visitors to check out.
4. VOLVO CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT
The 23-ton EC230 Electric mid-size excavator and DD25 Electric asphalt compactor are new additions to the Volvo Construction Equipment electric lineup that will be shown at CONEXPO. Space will be available for attendees to test drive electric machines. Volvo CE will also display autonomous concepts, the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell articulated hauler, a remote-controlled machine, and more.
The company will unveil a new model in its next series of excavators the morning the show opens. An upgraded L350H wheel loader will be on hand, and areas to discuss services and technology will also be part of the booth.
5. HYDREMA
Hydrema will be going green thanks to its first electric vehicle, the DT6 dump truck. This vehicle sports a new design based on technology developed from the ground up on a fully electric platform.
Also on display will be Hydrema’s 912G and compact 707G articulating dump trucks. The 912G and 707G both offer the multi-tip dump feature allowing for the dump body to swing 90 degrees from side to side. Hydrema will display its largest model, the 922G, with a high-mobility feature (922HM). Rounding out the booth will be the MX16 wheeled excavator.
1. CASE CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT
More than 30 new machines and a variety of new attachments will make up the CASE Construction Equipment booth. Central to the new product lineup is the E Series excavator line, which includes seven new models – two in brand-new size classes for CASE.
Visitors can also get up close and personal with the Minotaur DL550, CASE’s first compact dozer loader. More product launches and details on CASE’s technology, services, and solutions will also be on display.
2. LIEBHERR
CONEXPO attendees will have a big opportunity to check out Liebherr’s machines at the show – the company will show more than 30 exhibits on more than 60,000 square feet of space that, for the first time, includes a demo area. New earthmoving machines will include medium-sized wheel loaders, the TA 230 Litronic ADT, the PR 766 G8 crawler dozer, and more. On the concrete side, the 36 XXT truck-mounted concrete pump will be launched in North America, while the crane sector will feature the LR 1400 SX crawler crane and LTM 11005.3 as new or recent additions to the line. A number of electric machines will also be on display.
3. LBX
Construction and forestry jobs are always demanding, and LBX is showing off its innovative solutions to meet those demands across a range of segments. One of its innovations is the new X4S series of excavators, Tier 4 Final machines designed to save money without sacrificing strength. Another new product to be displayed is the 40B Forestry Series with improved designs for performance and durability.
The company’s Precision Grade control system as well as its WAVES+ technology, a 270-degree birds-eye view system that enhances safety, will be available for visitors to check out. LBX will also host its Rodeo Showdown, giving operators the chance to put their skills to the test.
4. CATERPILLAR
Operator Stadium, Caterpillar’s home for CONEXPO, will host the finals of the Global Operator Challenge – nine operators will face off using Cat equipment to determine who is the best of the best. Cat will also feature more than 30 machines, including battery-electric prototypes, and new unveilings.
The display will include the new 950 medium wheel loader, as well as a preview of the Next Generation 926, 930, and 938 small wheel loaders. Cat Paving will display the PM822 cold planer equipped with integrated Cat Grade technology and System K rotor options. The AP455 Mobil-Trac paver will be on hand, along with a new three-dimensional screed plate. Caterpillar Industrial Power Systems will have a booth where it will unveil a new high-power internal combustion engine and show lithium-ion technologies.

The all-new PF-7000C series highway-class pavers will be shown featuring a new Tier 4 Final engine and new telematics. The new PF4410X 8-foot paver featuring a new Cummins diesel engine for global markets will also be on hand.
In addition, Blaw-Knox will introduce its all new Blaw-Konnect Telematics system which will show real-time GPS location, monitoring of machine vitals, and paver-specific performance. Blaw-Knox will also introduce the Omni-118 front-mounted screed for the PF-5000 series pavers.
3. GRYB INTERNATIONAL
GRYB International is making its first appearance at CONEXPO with a showcase of its six brands: Bateman, Winkle, Shearex, Serco, e-Trak, and GRYB. The GTR Tiltrotator will be on display and demonstrated live at the event. Designed to optimize excavators with axes, making it easier than ever to get into hard-toreach areas. Attendees will be able to see the tiltrotator in action as it maneuvers from one attachment to another.
4. SBM MINERAL PROCESSING

SBM will also share more information about the new REMAX 600 impact crusher, which it is testing with autonomous crushing technology. A range of sensors constantly records and evaluates feed material as well as intermediate and end products.
5. CDE CONEXPO-CON/AGG is an opportunity for CDE to show off new equipment and projects while also displaying the work that its industry partners are engaged in across North America, where more than 100 million tons of CD&E waste has been diverted from landfills.
A majority of the equipment in CDE’s display will make up a new C&D waste recycling wash plant in the United States. Equipment on display will include the AggMax scrubbing and attrition system, the Counter Flow Classification Unit (CFCU) for density separation, and the EvoWash sand classification and dewatering system.
6. SAKAI AMERICA
Sakai America will provide a snapshot of its newest technologies and products, including a new prototype soil roller and its new Guardman emergency braking technology on four different asphalt rollers. There will be a variety of additional machines on display, from highway-class asphalt rollers to the 84-inch and smaller soil compactors, as well as a sampling of the company’s light compaction equipment line.

Electrification is giving a lift to Manitou Group’s lineup at CONEXPO, where a collection of electric machines will be on display. A pair of rotating telehandlers and a conventional telehandler have been introduced in the electric line, along with mobile elevating work platforms.
Those won’t be the only new products on hand, as Manitou plans to make a number of major introductions during the show to flesh out its lines of material handling, lifting, and earthmoving machines. Service and solutions products like the EasyMANAGE telematics platform will also be on display.
2. ASTEC INDUSTRIES
Astec Industries has a spread of product offerings that stretches from crushing and screening to roadbuilding, and it will be displaying that comprehensive expertise at CONEXPO. New product launches will come in the roadbuilding and forestry sectors, while featured products are targeted across multiple segments.
On display from the roadbuilding side will be the company’s RX-505 cold planer, an SB-3000 material transfer vehicle, and two commercial class pavers, the CP130 and a CP-75 II. On the aggregates side, Astec will display its FT300 mobile cone crusher, the PTSC2818VM portable screen, and a 9200 fines recovery plant.
3. VÖGELE
A selection of pavers, in a range of sizes that pave from paths up to highways, will be shown by Vögele. In combination with the AB 220 extending screed, the SUPER 700i small paver can pave at widths between 3 feet 11 inches and 7 feet 3 inches. The SUPER 1300-3i is compact yet features a maximum laydown rate of 385 tph. The maneuverable SUPER 1703-3i 8-foot paver meets the demands placed on asphalt pavers, especially when combined with the VF 500 front-mounted screed. The SUPER 2000-3i tracked paver has a maximum laydown rate of 1,540 tph.
4. TRIMBLE
Trimble will make a new product announcement targeting small contractors, in addition to demonstrating the complete line of Trimble office software and field solutions, including Trimble Earthworks machine control systems, which now features horizontal steering control for dozers and compactors.
Trimble will also highlight its solutions in robotics, including live demos of Spot, the Boston Dynamics robot dog, equipped with the Trimble X7 Laser Scanner. Attendees will be able to get a hands-on demo and talk with product experts about Trimble’s ERP, estimating, and project management solutions.

1. WEILER
Innovation in roadbuilding and quarry products is on the agenda for Weiler during CONEXPO as the company shows new and existing products. On the asphalt paving side, two new pavers – the P385C and P285 – will be on display, showing improvements in its conveyor drive and heat systems. All four models of Weiler’s material transfer vehicles are set to be in the booth as well. Weiler has also updated its W530B road widener and will show a number of other pavers, soil stabilizers, and rollers.
For quarry operators, the D560 top hammer drill will be on display. In addition, Weiler is introducing the Weiler Watch asset management system.
2. TAKEUCHI
New machines, including one North American debut, are on the slate for Takeuchi at CONEXPO. Notably, the company will show off its new TB350R short-tailswing compact excavator during the event. Another highlight is the North American debut of the TB395W, a wheeled excavator with a top travel speed of 18.1 mph.
A pair of machines will be on display with tiltrotators attached, as well as the TB20e battery-powered excavator with a hammer, TB257R excavator fitted with a mulcher and front window guards, a TL8R2 CTL with a rake, and a TW60 wheel loader with a broom.
It can never hurt to have more control of your excavator, and Rototilt will feature its solution for adding control during CONEXPO. The Rototilt Control concept will be on display, showing off the company’s new proportional control system, along with a new tiltrotator series, ergonomic joysticks, and an app for rapid remote support.
There are eight models of Rototilt tiltrototators avail- able for machines from 1.5 to 43 tonnes, along with the QuickChange system for automatic tool swaps. Rototilt will demonstrate its tiltrotators throughout the event.
VMAC plans to add a trio of new products to its lineup of vehicle-mounted air compressors, generators, and other tools – including some unique introductions for the company.
Honda GX390 gas engine, providing both power and compressed air. In addition, VMAC will introduce a 5-in-1 Multifunction Power System, offering compressed air, power, a battery booster, charger, and welder also powered by a Honda gas engine.
5. KEESTRACK
An electric feel will be in the air at the Keestrack display during CONEXPO, as the company continues to share its growing number of electric units for aggregates. The Keestrack ZERO-drive machines are designed with no combustion engine on board, and use electric motors to drive equipment.
The newly designed R5e impactor will be on display. A full-electric plug-in, it also has a plug-out connection to power additional equipment. Able to process up to 400 tph, it is mobile and can be transported in one piece. At CONEXPO the unit will be displayed with a drop off engine/genset that can be placed on or near the machine.
6. HITACHI CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY AMERICAS
CONEXPO marks a big step for Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas with the release of its Dash-7 excavators and wheel loaders taking centre stage at its excavators, features three pumps that work together and direct oil flow for maximized efficiency.
Hitachi will also focus on technology, with new tools in its ConSite telematics suite on display: ConSite Oil, which monitors engine and hydraulic oil conditions, and ConSite Air, which provides remote diagnostics and software updates.
7. SUPERIOR INDUSTRIES
Ever wondered what 250 tons of aggregate pro- unveilings. A pair of new cone crushers will be added to the Superior catalogue at CONEXPO: the Dakota Bearing Cone and Endeavor Spider Bushing Cone. A new Portable Sentry HIS Closed Circuit Plant is also brand-new and will be on display.
New conveyor components are set to be shown, and Superior will also feature its TeleStacker conveyor with a working automation panel that visitors can interact with.
