o Free Elective Courses: Courses that students can select from any faculty.

2) University Requirement Courses These are a set of courses designated by the University to ensure that all students acquire a broader knowledge. Students must complete from 13 to 20 credits as university courses according to the facultiesโ€™ own regulations. These courses include: - Mandatory Courses (5 credits) : A set of mandatory courses: Human Rights (1 cr.) โ€“ Arabic Language (2 Crs.)โ€“ English Language (2 Crs.). For non-arabic speakers, it is possible to replace the Arabic Language Course, one of the mandatory university requirments, with an optional course in other foreign language (FREN001), ITAL001 or SPAN001 - Elective Courses (from 8 to 15 credits) : A set of courses offered by all faculties in the university for all students to choose from. Students may not register in university elective courses offered by their own faculty in the same major.

ENGL 001 ENGLISH LANGUAGE (2Cr.:2Lec) โ€ซุงู„ู„ุบุฉ ุงุงู„ู†ูƒู„ูŠุฒูŠุฉโ€ฌ A general course that enhances language skills and provides coverage of basic grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing for foundation students. It deals with basic competence in reading, through exercises on getting main ideas, guessing meaning from context, understanding details, predicting and inferencing. Writing development from paragraph to composition, proceeding through writing and developing of topics sentences, supporting sentences and paragraph writing is the focus of the course. Writing and reading build vocabulary through exercises and dictionary use and cloze exercises. The latter develop grammar where the use of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, transition signals, the reconstructing of sentences and main and subordinating clauses is practiced. The importance of human rights in our societies, not only from a theoretical point of view but rather more from a practical one, is highlighted. Special attention is given to certain global themes on human rights, which touch on critical topics related to our society. It also covers the following topics: Human rights, key values of human rights and other values, characteristics of human rights, history of human rights, some problematic cases, the evolution of human rights, the implementation of human rights and NGOs, human rights in Lebanon, children, citizenship, democracy, discrimination and xenophobia, education, and gender equality. It severely disrupts bodily functions, ruins families and destroys societies. This course will introduce basic aspects of addiction and identify their toxic effects on the human body. In this course, students will explore how addiction develops, looking at the environmental, genetic and personal risks involved. They will also understand what happens when a drug enters the body and how it affects the brain, and how this process can make recovering from addiction a challenge. Substances like alcohol, cocaine, nicotine, sedative-hypnotics, cannabis, hallucinogens, opiates, and other substances causing health problems in our culture are identified and discussed.
